But WWE own the Starcade name, along with all WCW related trademarks. I'm guessing AEW can use Bash at the Beach because it's can be argued that it's too generic a name to trademark unlike something like Starcade or Halloween Havoc

Some of those guys bounced back and forth between the two groups for years. Booker, Ultimate Warrior, Sting was in the WWF before they bounced to WCW. On the I there hand, The Undertaker, Triple HHH, Big Show, Goldberg basically came from WCW either on their own or the buyout.
I like it, AEW has a WCW feel and It's all good. It's gotten someone who grew up watching wrestling for yrs to gain a intrest again. I'm not into the story lines, but AEWs style of wrestling draws me. And I love seeing guys I grew up watching still get some TV shine. DDP, Tommy dreamer, Billy Gunn...I believe more WWE wrestlers want to make a appearance with AEW but don't have the balls yet.

What if AEW is just dripping WCW into the show, in the early days to educate the young viewers who don't really know about WCW, to get them to go watch WCW and there for learning where they're coming from. Their foundations? I haven't found the homage to WCW to be overwhelming, over-saturated and over done. Yet. If the audience is going to make comparisons and associations they'd rather it be with WCW and not WWE.
That would be a bad strategy (or objective) because most young viewers will subscribe to the WWE Network to watch old WCW, so they'd be generating more money for their competition.

This one could be good because I always thought all the motorcycles during the pre show was a unique event. Cody waited too long. My main criticism is that the themes and music of the athletes are a little lackluster in aew. That's just me though, super happy about aew so far though.

Unfortunately The WWE reactivated that license last year for merchandise use. So Cody cannot use it but yeah I been waiting years for a new Halloween Havoc.

Okay a few things. This isn’t a ppv at all. They’re doing 3 shows in a week during the Jericho cruise. They’re going to do a themed wed night show that takes place in Miami. And they’re also doing some matches from the boat. As for hanging on wcw too much. Aew feels like nitro when it was good. Long term I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not. I do think they need to get some better stories going. So far they haven’t done a storyline that insults our intelligence like the wwe does on a weekly basis. But just throwing matches out there for matches sake will eventually get old. Also some of the great bte skits they do need to be on the main show.

I’m sure WWE is absolutely terrified of a wrestling show that gets 800,000 viewers and gets beat in viewers by NXT, WWE’s C level show. Where were you guys when TNA was getting millions of viewers on Spike? Old TNA makes AEW look like a Indy promotion.
It's about Dusty's old ideas he doesn't want them to die being buried like wwe are doing to some of them. It's not about reviving wcw at all, but even if it was it wouldn't be a bad thing. Wcw was huge when I was growing up.

I disagree. I don't see an issue with it. What's so wrong about bringing back some old PPVs but also doing new things as well? People act like there isn't room to do new things as well. Bash at the Beach isn't gonna be a PPV. It's gonna be a show on Dynamite which most likely means it probably won't be an annual thing or any of the other PPVs that Cody trademarked for. People jumping to conclusions.

For one, schavionne wasn't there cuz he works for ga bulldogs basketball. 2) Cody is trying to by his dad's properties and use them, u can't own a trademark if u don't use it! 3) he is buying these trademarks to write a biography of his dad, how can u write that and not mention his greatest achievements? I mean seriously! Try to write your daddy's eulogy, and not use the words of where he worked, his last name, his ideas, and so on and so forth! At least he is using the trademark. I hope he gets Halloween havoc too!
My main criticism is that the themes and music of the athletes are a little lackluster in aew. That's just me though, super happy about aew so far though.

Its not a big deal to me. WWE has WCWs ppv names they have played with multiple times: Great American Bash, WAR GAMES?? And aren't we getting Starrcade again? cmon yall with that 2019 jargon...respectfully speaking ofcourse. A name is a name but the delivery is what ultimately matters.
WCW was good and had some great PPVs and wrestling concept matches. Why not use some of those old ideas in addition to trying some new ones too? Bash at the Beach was fucking great so was War Games, Starrcade, Halloween Havok etc.. I would like to see AEW bring back not only Bash at the Beach but also Halloween Havok. WWE isn't using them so why not? They do need more PPVs after all. They have All Out, Double or Nothing and Full Gear of their own creation already.

Unfortunately The WWE reactivated that license last year for merchandise use. So Cody cannot use it but yeah I been waiting years for a new Halloween Havoc.

If anyone gave WWE a run for there money it was WCW. And if Cody is using some of that formula then go for it. WCW might of went away but there formula impacted history ultimately. In the last 20 yrs WWE has not, time for a refreshing.

Okay a few things. This isn’t a ppv at all. They’re doing 3 shows in a week during the Jericho cruise. They’re going to do a themed wed night show that takes place in Miami. And they’re also doing some matches from the boat.
As for hanging on wcw too much. Aew feels like nitro when it was good. Long term I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or not. I do think they need to get some better stories going. So far they haven’t done a storyline that insults our intelligence like the wwe does on a weekly basis. But just throwing matches out there for matches sake will eventually get old. Also some of the great bte skits they do need to be on the main show.

outside of tnt and some of the old wcw guys on the aew staff, I see no resemblance. aew wrestling wise is nothing like wcw, and besides Chris Jericho who's doing a great job as champion, theres no old stars taking all the glory.

They're doing a Jericho Cruise for the Bash at the Beach. In a way that's something new as well. Why not pay tribute to it?
