You will never run out of stories Mike. And they have all been very interesting to this point. I wish your family the best as you progress through this extremely dry season.
I'm glad you bring a bit of Wyoming to Alaska! I watch because of the wonderful story. Also listening to you. You have a great personality and it's always fun to listen to you're perspective on ranching! I wish you and your family good blessings! Thank you for letting me come along!
I'm living and working on a Cattle Station in the Northern Territory of Australia, the station is 2 million acres, 3125sq/miles, we have a combination of Wagyu beef & a composite Wagyu beef herd about a 50/50 split, we are currently running about 30000 head. I am what is called a borerunner and drive around checking the bores, troughs & tanks, driving about 1500km per week on the rough black soil roads, we have 2 borerunners onsite, the roads turn to deep black soil mud in the wet season, we have 2 seasons up here, wet & dry.
Been to Wyoming 2X. Many gorgeous and fascinating places in Wyoming, 1500 miles from me. I have a relative out that way. I'm from Central New York and yes hay is quite the commodity. We have had the rain so you are doing hay in between rain drops making sure not to get it wet, big round bales, regular bales. Wishing you the best in finding hay. Every day is a new day on a farm/ranch you never know what the day is going to bring. Nothing more American than farmers/ranchers. Enjoyed your video, keep them coming.
I'm glad Blonde Cow is retiring and living her "life out" on the ranch. It looked like a naked neck chicken instead Turken. Loved all your new editions to the ranch, even the goats. I always wanted to raise several mini Herefords.
"He's got a little hitch in his giddy-up" cracked me up. I'm sure he does. I loved that you called the chickens who don't lay eggs yet, "Freeloaders." Great video, Mike. You all have a great weekend.
It will never get old. Keep up the great work. Real life, everyday stuff is great to watch. Dont make it up, just keep the film rolling and push forward. I have a smaller farm operation - down to pigs/chickens and even mini-cows. We had a heifer just gave birth the family's first a calf, and it took my neighbor and I to pull her out. Just from watching, I was able to apply those things I have watched to my own issues at hand. Work can be just as hard and on going with no end. I learn quite a bit each time I watch and enjoy the videos of the animals and family life. Bless you and the family. Wish I was closer than Arkansas myself to have the great pleasure of touring your ranch. 5 star...thanks for what you do.
Watching this from the Isle of Skye in Scotland and really impressed by the condition on your cattle despite the drought conditions being experienced on the ranch. Those Aberdeen Angus cattle are renowned for their ability to thrive on marginal ground and they are a credit to your stockmanship. I notice that the Hereford breed might have featured on the ranch in times past and if that was the case was there a particular reason for moving away from that breed? It is pleasing to see your daughters participation given the many distractions presented in this digital age. Erin displays real empathy in the projects she is promoting and hopefully the recipients of her endeavours will have a greater appreciation of the journey from ranch to fork. Wish you well in your quest for hay in the coming period and in continuing to share with us your 'Wyoming Life' regards to all from Scotland.
One thing I'm sure no one would tire of - and probably will get a lot of new viewers: Bean getting trained as a cattle dog! He's getting so big and I recall you saying you may have him professionally trained. That would be exciting. How is he around full grown cattle - last time we saw him he only played with the calves.
Love the baby goats. They are so cute. All of the animals reminds me when i grew up on the farm. Miss those days going out with my dad tending to the animals.
Mike, I don't think you will ever run out of interesting stories and videos. Never a dull moment on the ranch. Keep on and continue to run it into the ground. In a good way that is!
Mike and Erin you guys are superstars I love watching your TH-cam channel! I am hoping to have a ranch one day I love working around the and allways dream of having a life like that instead of a job.
I ran across your channel showing up in my feed and have now watched several videos even going back a year. I have only this to say...I commend you for the hard work and the sincerity of your heart for your herd. Thank you thank you for all you do and God bless you and your family.
Just a suggestion - when you think you need to change things up a bit, I think it'd be interesting to have an interview with an "old-timer" in the area. Someone that my know about the early years of your ranch, or maybe just knows about the general area around your ranch.
I love this idea! I'm in rural Northern Nevada, but spent the first 18 years of my life in the West Texas dirt patch. Some of my favorite childhood memories were sitting with my grandpa at the local breakfast place and listening to all the old timers tell stories and just shoot the bull (no pun intended!)
I can understand why that bull might be grubby but I got to say I think he handled the procedure the other day well. I believe that you will always have subjects to talk about.

Here in Australia we have had constant rain.. This rain follows a drought that had some want to leave the land and now it’s a whole new story 6 months later. Same hay problems a year ago.. Have faith! Rain is on the way. U seem to have a real positive attitude in such tough times. I really enjoy your Vlogs! Please do a segment on your drone and how you learned to use it and why you selected this drone that your currently using?
Just a few thoughts... I lived in Washington State about 30 years ago, and got our fresh milk from a 'goat farmer', in trade for blemished vegetables. I discovered that ice cold goat milk tastes really creamy, and was easy to digest. Also, it's excellent to cook with (gravy, pudding and bakery items). Goats LOVE to eat scrub and coarse grasses. Perhaps you have the start of a dairy farm?
