  • This is the fourth video capturing the abundant and fascinating wildlife that live in the city. Wildlife Camera Trap Project - Q4 Highlights footage was collected at specific points along the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum from July to September 2021. Included are surprising images of the beautiful blue grosbeak and America's only marsupial species, the Virginia Opossum. Watch a baby opossum "play 'possum" when a racoon approaches.
In this quarter, 25 species were identified on camera from 2,450 files reviewed and analyzed by volunteers from Trees Atlanta and Georgia Audubon! During the full year of observation and review, the project tracked 57 species identified from 28,333 files from October 2020 to September 2021! Wow!
The city is habitat for wildlife -- among the buildings, roads, humans, and traffic. Animals find food and shelter in green areas with trees, plants, and waterways. Wildlife is an important part of our community and urban places are often teeming with activity that isn't often seen by people. This video gives you a peek at the creatures that we share our urban ecosystem with. This video is a product of the Wildlife Camera Trap Project, a partnership with Trees Atlanta and Georgia Audubon. Six cameras have been installed in various locations along the Atlanta BeltLine Arboretum. Volunteers have adopted each one to help maintain them, move them around, and download images. Thanks to Georgia Audubon (www.georgiaaud...) the massive volume of footage is reviewed and edited to produce this highlight video.
This video is from the fourth quarter of this project (Q4, footage collected during Summer 2021). The Fall 2020 (Q1), Winter 2021 (Q2), and Spring 2021 (Q3) videos are available to view on Trees Atlanta TH-cam channel or on our Arboretum webpage (links below).
