  • This is a short demonstration of a 2" Quad stereo recording made on location in the early 1970's. The left channel was on the normal program track and the right channel was on the cue track. Overall, the stereo fidelity and imaging is acceptable. A stock Ampex AVR-1 was used as the playback VTR.

The great thing for me is not much the "stereo 2" quad" thing but this Mark-Almond video....an awesome underrated band.

The legendary Dannie Richmond on drums, while on a hiatus from Charles Mingus.

Great video, unfortunately brief. So little live performance video of this underrated early 70's band exists. Their first LP remains one of my very favorites of the era. Thanks for this!

They could have used a M/S matrix with the sum channel on the program track and the difference channel on the cue track, making the tape playable on any other quad machine in mono and balancing the stereo image better. Great picture!

Is there more tape than just this?

What kind of source tape is it again?

Man, the fast switcher takes at the end of each stanza are distracting as hell.
Anyone know the name of this song? Amazingly nothing comes up in Google for any of the lyrics. I guess Mark-Almond is so obscure not even the 1970s rock historians are paying any attention.
