Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan were/are so talented that in today's NBA, they would STILL dominate the league and setting even more historical records...they can take the contact and still make buckets...with today's NBA rules, it would be insane to see the results of their performance on the court...
Just know Bird IS THAT DUDE..IF he's not in ANYBODY top 5, ya trippin..To make the point clear, the man won a 3pt contest and didn't even take his WARM-UP JACKET OFF..
It doesn't make sense, but my favorite Larry Bird moment happened after he swished a spectacular running jumper off one leg for three points. He started running down court with a huge grin on his face, held out his hand to the defender running alongside, the guy got a big grin on his face and gave Larry a celebration palm slap. The great sportsmanship and love of the game was more enjoyable than Bird's great shot.
Same here! Those were the type of shots that inspired me to become proficent at shooting from anywhere on the court... and in any manner possible ( eg shooting in traffic, on the run, floaters, baby hookshots, bank shots, and using the left hand if necessary when close to the basket). It wasn't about his "IQ" or how fast or tall he is. It was about using raw instincts, skill, vision, and the ability to make his teammates better by putting the team goals ahead of everything else! Basketball nowadays is a snooze fest. Everyone now just jacks up 3s and flops for a cheap foul call. At the end of the day I learned from players like Bird, Magic, and Jordan, that the majority of the work needs to be done with the midrange game in order to soften up the opposing defense, which will then lead to taking more and more higher percentage shots... including, layups and 3s. Bird would school today's players without breaking a sweat.
That was Byron Allen with the interview at the beginning. He was a stand up comic who the youngest comic ever on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He then became a Tv producer of shows like Made in Hollywood. That is his voice saying "Coming Up Next". You can see him now on Funny You Should Ask which he produces. He now owns the Weather Channel.

When the GOAT Jordan is saying damn, “he didn’t even takeoff his jumper can you imagine if he took off his shirt” you know you have someone special. Remember all you youngsters backed in the game was so much more physical. Today’s game if a fingernail touches a player of the refs call a foul with the players complaining and whining. Bird fractured His cheekbone, came back into the game and dropped 27 points. LeBron just sprained his ankle and was out for two games. Jordan would average 60 points in today’s game with magic and Bird averaging 40. LeBron, Kevin Garnett, and Steph Curry if they played back then without all the rules, they would average 20 Points.
