From 1998 until they temporarily disbanded in 2012 after 14 years of success,then later reunited in 2018, Shane has always been the lead vocalist of Westlife as approved by their bosses Louis Walsh and Simon Cowel.
Actually the producers Steve Mac and even the USA producers ( for the Rat pack album) chose Shane as a lead because his voice was versatile and could fit all kinds of songs. His tone interpreted the songs as the songs writers intended the songs to be.
