My pleasure - great to have you along. Yes Vic and Jo are almost entirely responsible for my TH-cam endeavours! They are currently moored about 2 minutes from my house - very lovely neighbours indeed!

Nice to see you settled into your new studio. Good honest informative video. I paint mostly in oils and use Gamvar which, like you , I decant into a small pot. Although most of my work is not generally impasto, I do have areas of thick paint and will err on the side of caution by waiting beyond touch dry to apply it.

I paint different, using acrylics and added some marks with pens and markers. Decided to "protect" it with varnish. First brush strokes dissolved the pens, smeared the markers and trashed the whole painting. Doh! Big lesson learnt. Still have no idea how to protect the work, except to buy "proper" art pens and markers - which is difficult as I'm in China. But visiting UK in August so will be buying a haul of permanent sharpies etc. I enjoy your videos.

How lovely to see you working in yor new bright studio Ben, your paintings are looking good. Do you use a medium for speeding up paint drying time? I use Galkyd or liquin original. I have been trying mixing my normal oils with an alkyd titanium white which works well.

Hi Anita, lovely to hear from you. I don't - just old fashioned oil! I'm never in too much of a rush for them - they just go in the old drying cupboard where I forget about them!

Do you use matt, satin or gloss? I use Gamvar as it allows you to varnish once touch dry, other varnishes require paintings to be left for weeks or months before varnishing. That can be a real pain if you want to 'move' your painting quickly to exhibition or client.
Those thick paintings are looking very yummy, are they on plywood?
    👍

I'm not quite sure to be honest Jim. I need to check on the bottle - either way I like the look. MDF mostly - 9mm. It's very light and affordable too.
