    Thankyou for showing us your room, its so well equipped and everything so easily accessible and organised. I love that you have picked up things here and there and given them a second life and made them work for you. My room is similar, smaller but made up of repurposed and similar sentimental items including my childhood sewing tools and bits and pieces from my Mum. I love my little space and like you
    only managed a spot for myself when my daughter moved out, we are so lucky to have our own spaces and I appreciate mine everyday! Enjoy your week!

    Wonderful peek into your sewing room thank you. I am in awe of all your pairs of scissors and I think you have everything anyone could ever want 👏🏼. I have those magnetic dishes for pincushions too and wow aren't they strong. I keep it on my ironing board and also have a job to pull it off😂. They are designed for mechanics so I'm told. Thanks so much for the tour of your sewing room. You have the same philosophy as me. I don’t have anything bought new for mine. I have an antique dresser and mirror that belonged to my late husband, a cabinet I bought an auction 40 years ago, a dresser that my grandmother gave us when we got married. I have my moms sewing machine from 1974, and her sewing box, and many tools. For cutting I have two plastic folding tables I took away from my dad. He wanted to take them for furniture when they went to a gorgeous new assisted living facility. My mother thanked us for vetoing that idea.
    The only brand new things are two inexpensive bookcases I ordered from Walmart. I needed more fabric and pattern storage. Even the curtains were thrifted for $1 a pair.
    Like you I’ve sewn on my kitchen table, our utility room, the corner of my bedroom, and on a picnic table when I camp white my daughter. I only have a room since everyone moved out. I live with my son because I can’t live alone anymore. Because my eyesight is failing, too, I recently ordered a used air threading serger, which is the most I’ve spent on anything.
    I trace my patterns the same way. Then I put the original pdf and the traced pieces in a zippered pouch I get from Amazon. To get it flattened for storage I stick it all under my machine over night.

      @Silver_Threads_Sewing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you SO much Sue! We sound so much alike! I have diabetic retinopathy and my vision isn’t great either! I am so glad you have an airthread serger. They do help a lot. Bless your Dad. Men never want to get rid of anything 😀 I am happy you talked him out of them. I enjoyed your comment so much! ❤️

    No need to throw away your dull pins and needles. Those tomato pin cushions have a little strawberry hanging from the top center of the tomato holds resin used for sharpening them. All you do to sharpen the pin or needle is to push the point of it in and out of that strawberry repeatedly until it is sharp again.

    I thoroughly enjoyed your sewing room tour! I love how you store your presser feet in the little drawers! And the bread box is adorable! I recently organized all my patterns by putting the pattern envelopes in notebooks with clear pockets. Then the pattern and instructions are in manila envelopes that are stored in numerical order by the pattern numbers. I have four notebooks. One for dresses, one for tops, one for bottoms, and one for children's patterns. I can flip through my notebooks, find a pattern i want to make, and then get the pattern and instructions in the bins on the shelf. I found this idea from a couple of TH-cam sewists. Take care and happy sewing!

    I’m new here and I really got a lot of ideas because I live in an apartment. I really love the cutting table. I am thinking I can do that. Never thought of looking for the shift robe as a storage. I will be looking for one at the thrift stores. The container for the needles-omgoodness is exactly what I have been trying to figure out for my needles. I would love to know what sewing books you have that you love. I am a collector. You had some great ideas. My stuff is all over the place. TFS.

    I loved this video and your sewing room! The hardest part of sewing a garment for me is dragging out my sewing machine (in cabinet), clearing the dining table for cutting and construction , getting out all my necessary things and setting up my ironing board with iron in some little space left so I can still move lol. I look longingly at our small room currently used as an office for a someday sewing room maybe❤

    Enjoyed! And, yes, silicone headed straight pins, yeah, like that idea! They won't melt under the heat of an iron because they have a heat tolerance up to 428℉ while temps of an iron on cotton can reach upwards of 400℉!
    I always have to know the science underpinning a mechanism! Thank you for the tip, it's why sharing is so important! I've seen those silicone coated pins before but it never crossed my mind they'd be this utilitarian.
