in repeater mode, if the main router is using 10.0.0.x can i still set the repeater to use 192.168.1.x
Nope, set it to IP to DHCP and Gateway or DHCP server to your main router ip address.
You cannot have two DHCP server running in a single network. also the IP range has to be the same.
