    Thank you for posting this vid. Every couple years I update my "free TV" antenna and your video helped in my selection process.

    I have both the amplified and non amplified versions. With the amplified version I'm able to receive 35 channels and with the non amplified version I'm able to receive 20 channels. They are used on two separate TVS in the same location in my house.

      @@shamekiajohnson7247 Good morning Ms. Johnson. It all comes down to location of one's antenna and the geographical area that one lives in. Online one can enter one's zip code and it will tell one how many channels that are possibly available for one's area. I'm currently operating 8 different antennas on 8 different TVs in my house and the TVs with antennas downstairs get more channels than the TVs upstairs. The TVS downstairs are newer smart TVs whereas the ones upstairs are first generation smart TVs. Some of my TVS get 30 channels and others get up to 35. During regular channel scans on one's TV will help one keep updated on the channels and if one will need to relocate one's antenna for better channel reception.

    The RCA app simply points out the location of TV Station Antennae's. It is not crucial to the operation of the antennae. Over the Air antennae can be spotty depending on atmospheric conditions. With this particular antennae, the cord is just too short to give flexibility of placement. In the end, it is no better than the $10 antennae.

    When I first started investigating how I might be able to "cut the cord", I purchased this exact model antenna - about 4 years ago. I was able to pick up about 19 total channels but had to move the panel from a window on one side of the room to a window on the other. Yes, it definitely helps to be by a window.
    Being the inquisitive type I purchased an RCA Yagi style antenna and a powered splitter and utilized the pole that held my old DirectTv satellite dish and the RG6 cable that was already running into the house and split to other parts of the house. I upped the number of channels to 34 and used it relatively problem free until recently. We started having trouble picking up the NBC channel and it's sub channels recently. It was still coming in but often broke up.
    There's another NBC tower about 50 miles away that I wasn't picking up with my Yagi antenna so I went bigger and more powerful with a Range Xperts Long Range VHF/UHF antenna. I hooked it up on the same pole using the same coax cables. The new scan increased to 46 channels including the NBC we were looking to pick up while still receiving a signal for the other NBC tower.
    Everyone's situation is different. If you live in a city with several towers under 25 miles this flat panel antenna should work fine (most of the channels it picked up for me were about 30 miles away and had strong signals).If you live in a more rural area you will need a little more power and mounting an antenna on the roof is the best idea. If you have an attic it's possible that would work too but outside is where you'll get the most bang for your buck. A high quality amplified splitter also helps if you're running cable to a few tv's (I use an RCA amplified splitter).

    I will need to return this back to Walmart, as I believe it’s useless, if my TV has no channel scan. Right?
    Also, btw, I lost my fire stick stations. What a mess this failure was!

    • @skywind007
      @skywind007  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, without channel scan it would be difficult to establish if there is a gain in the number of channels.

      All TVs have channel scan. Fire stick has nothing to do with anything. Firestick uses internet, not over the air.

    I live in La Porte. I have had problems with another antenna. It, for some reason, doesn't receive 2 and 11 in Houston. How did this antenna do in this area?

    How do you use TV remote to scan channels

    • @skywind007
      @skywind007  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That part varies from TV to TV. Every TV is different. But usually, you have to go to MENU and then "Channel Setup", then AUTO SCAN.

    I'm guessing this one doesn't need a converter box

    • @skywind007
      @skywind007  16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No. It's just a directional antenna. If you have a very old analog TV and you live in the U.S. or any other digital TV country, then you do need a converter box regardless of which type of antenna you use. RCA does make another directional antenna that comes with an amplifier box (not a converter box). This type of antenna works both with and without the amplifier box but works better with the amplifier box, so you receive more channels. By the way, in my area local broadcast is getting worse and worse. You might want to get Netflix instead of any of these antennas if you live in Texas.

      I got this for free for the purpose of me making a review on it. I received it directly from the manufacturer but it is normally sold by Walmart, ebay, and I believe Best Buy. I like your name Skywish r. I used to know a TH-camr by the name "Pink Sheep Rules Saku37 Drools of r".

    • @skywind007
      @skywind007  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You use your phone to find the towers that emit a TV signal, so you can aim your antenna toward that tower. You will need to use the app indicated by this product. Keep in mind that your phone must have a compass for this app to work. Most high end phones will have a compass, such as iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones. But cheaper phones typically don't have a compass, so the app will load but it will not function for any useful purpose.
