Good choice. The CBR650 are such great bikes. Cheap AF to run and have enough power to let you know you're alive. Decent suspension and rather comfortable. I've done 700kms in a day and felt pretty good.
Volgnit it’ll be coming soon. Hopefully on a dry day. Done more miles on the rain than I have in the dry (500 miles on rain: 50 in dry) so starting to get a little annoyed.
You have to go with your heart, especially at your age, you don’t need to compromise like an old git like me. I have finally realised my sound woes are related to turbulent air (as my latest vlog demonstrates). With me it’s not air off the top of the screen, it’s air coming round the side of the screen that is hammering, or more like tapping on the side of my helmet. It took me changing back to the standard Tiger screen from the bigger touring screen to work it out.
OldManTony you do indeed ha ha. Yeah it’s not fun. The first thing I do on a bike with a screen is put it on its lowest setting so I’m in clean air. That didn’t work on the vstrom so that’s why I tried bigger screens. If you want to stop turbulent air on a tiger try a madstadt screen. Expensive but very effective. Too effective I found when I rode dads bike but didn’t want to fiddle with it and he had it set to him.
A Garden Shed Vlogs that’s why I tried switching to the lower screen. It was with a bit of experimentation that I’d discovered it was dirty air round the sides of the screen. I nearly went for a Madstad, but decided £280 was just too much, so I’ve gone for a Puig which has decent reviews and is used and recommended by Arizona RE on his Tiger.
It was nice to meet up with Holly the Honda on your way up to Leeds last week Freddie - and lunch was good too :). You used the vstrom for a purpose, having seen you riding it at last years Sunny Hunny run you were a lot more confident riding it (standing in the pegs coming out of the car park was an example of this confidence). But, you used your head to realise it was time to move on, and the Honda is more suited to what you need. Also, too many trolls out there these days so don't blame you for being choosy as to what you share. That is your priviledge.... Have a look at Andy Man Cam's vlogs, he has added an after market gear indicator, don't know if it would work on Holly?
Mad Monk_1702 good to see you too keith. I bought the vstrom with my head. It was meant to be comfortable practical etc but it didn’t give me that fuzzy feeling inside. I get a bit annoyed with throwing money at it to try and fix the faults. I don’t think it was the vstrom that gave me confidence think it’s just my riding in general has improved. I spend most of the way round Scotland standing on pegs (legs got cramps). As for trolls that didn’t enter my train of thought I just bought the bike that appealed to me most. Yeah I am tempted by to be honest I seem to have got used to not having one again.
There's always someone with a snide comment ready for you. I'm still getting lots of buffeting with the CB500X. Going to try a few things but I think it's just a problem with the shape of adventure styled bikes. You should be able to a gear indicator on the bike for not too many pennies.
CalmBiker it is the Internet ha ha. May be with some bikes but I have ridden both dads tiger and an s1000xr and didn’t get buffeted on either. Hope you find a solution. I am considering getting one. But seem to have got used to it.
They are awesome bikes, getting the suspension set up for your weight is a really good idea, worth doing whatever bike a person rides! I have to admit, I am a little concerned with how much I am going to actually be able to record when I get my new bike, it's throttle will go round to 11 compared to my Guzzi and KTM! :D
Hippo-Drones yeah never had it donr before but I heard it make any bike feel so much better. I tend not to ride fast most of the time but occasionally the mood strikes. I look forward to seeing it.
If this beginner has enough common sense to keep it in bottom end of the rev range - no problem at all. If it's a kid who won't be able to resist reving it to the limit every chance he/she gets - maybe not.
Hey man, thx! glad to hear that. When I drive in my car, I sometimes receive comments like "you know the engine can actually rev above 2k, do you?" :) ofc a bike needs a little bit more than that, but I do not plan to drive my bike more agressive than my car. do you own a cbr 650f?
Yes, just like this one but white, bought it last year. This engine has a nice long, totally linear transition from mild to angry as you rev it up. For commuting and town traffic you just keep it down low. On a twin or a triple you have more torque right away, but you'd need to have drive by wire throttle control and switch modes to tame it down. It's not the most popular choice nowadays, but if you park it next to a Ninja 650 or an MT07, those bikes look like toys IMO.

I think you know in your heart when you find the bike that's the one. Ride safe buddy.
wyvernbiker think I’ve found it.
Love the look of the cbr650f its a lovely bike man glad you like it
just bought a 2018 model with only 2400 miles very excited
Nice. Hope you enjoy it.
I had this problem with my Thundercat I had headaches on longer rides and now low down grunt. Thats why I went with the FJR ;)
I’m looking forward to watching your review and having a good look around the Honda.

hello! do you think a complete beginner can handle the cbr 650 f and would you recommend it as an entry bike? thx!
