rappers often do this when they need to catch their breath and then he is quiet after he caught his breath because the music is still going and he needs the next cue to continue on with the song cause imagine intro... no way someone can do that in one breath :) i hope this explanation helps
He could be a little better live. He doesn't really show emotion or aggression like he does in his tracks. That's what makes NF so good. His live music is kind of bland and remixes his songs to much. Tyler Kingren that was 5 years ago when he released his first album which he is performing. Look up a clip of him now and you’ll see how much he improved
