That Abreu stretch was insane. That's the only way he could have gotten him and I've never seen an awkward stretch like that to get an out.

But come on give credit where credit is due. It's not easy as for a Team to pitch No Hitters and have like 20 No Hitters all together as a Team. That's an accomplishment on its own and a incredible feat to have on record. The White Sox have a great number of great no hitters under their belt and they are second to the Dodgers.

Dodgers fan here. I heard he was in the process of a perfect game in the 7th inning. I was watching my Dodger's game and I actually tuned in to watch the rest of this game as I would simultaneously go back and forth during commercials. So happy for Rodon after what he's gone through with all the injuries. Abreu's play in the 9th was the play of the game. That's an unbelievable effort by him.

i remember when they cut him this offseason. itr sucked cause it just seemed like the injuries would end his career right there. but then he pitched his way into the starting rotation in spring training, and then tonight!!! amazing! so happy for carlos.
the fact at the 100 pitch and he threw a 97 mph high fastball... Awesome.

It’s pretty common knowledge that when you’re on fire in a perfect game or no hitter and have been in the strike zone all game the ump is most likely gonna give the benefit of the doubt. Kerry Woods 20 strikeout game is the most clear example off of the top of my head.

I only started really watching baseball in 2017 ( I know that’s a bad look considering my allegiance, but I swear I’m legit) and I was so hopeful I’d get to see my first perfecto live. Still a nice no no though.
I watched Philip Humber's perfecto live, and let me tell you it's something magical to watch. Especially when a non-star turns a career night into a perfect game.

Not gonna lie, as a Pads fan watching Musgrove throw our first no no 6 days ago I’m a little triggered Rodón didn’t get the perfect game off a toe tap hbp 😤. At least Musgrove beaned Gallo right in the knee and in the beginning/middle of the game 😏

Correct me if I’m wrong, but you aren’t required to make a big effort to get out of the way. If it hits you it hits you, but there’s a big difference between than and being Wilson contreras and leaning into the strike zone with the intention of getting hit

Perez had a legitimate hbp and it was Carlos Rodon's fault the perfect game ended since at the end of the day it was a bad pitch. Simple as
You can't blame the hitter for that. A lefthander's slider down and in to a right handed hitter is very hard to read, that's why it's such a good strikeout pitch. The batters sees the pitch as being way closer to the plate than it ends up, and then the pitch keeps sliding towards the batter after it passes his eyeline. It's why you see instances of guys like Chris Sale getting batters to swing and miss on those types of sliders even when it hits the batter. To the batter, that pitch doesn't look like it's going to end up that far inside.
2 strike count, his goal is to get on base. He didn’t move into the pitch, I wouldn’t hold that against him. But for sure, in any other situation, he backing away from that lol

Rodon did/didn't make history; he did indeed throw a no hitter, however he didn't get the perfect game due to the hit by pitch.
