Hey Phil, I'm back and what luck to come back to the "Rock" and Toms creek road. Thank you. Yes the drive up to top is steep but I've got up in an old Toyota Corona. There's a gap in the rock you can walk through, but watch your your step at the end! Also just near the stairs is little track to a rock overhang cave. The view from the top is stunning just as you show. At Ellenborough reserve when it's been raining heavily in the upper reaches of the Ellenborough river, it get tainted by the red soil and meets the Hastings river which is clear. The two water's don't mix till down river near Kindee bridge. Just before the bridge got restored you could have called it Kindee "swinging" bridge. Very unnerving to drive across I'll tell you. Thanks for listening mate. Happy travels👌🏍️🇦🇺
Welcome back Neil 😌 There's some great places around Comboyne, that's for sure. Seen a Toyota Hiace up the rock once - but the road was much better than now though. I was at Kindee Bridge when they were revamping it. They allowed me to walk my bike across as I'd just come from Beechwood and it's miles to go back. Catch ya mate 👍
Have been riding every day last ten days , done about 3000km around SE qld and into Northern NSW , just day tripping from Gold Coast , but still enjoy watching your videos in the evening , your channel deserves more subscribers , so many you tube viewers clicking motorcycle review channels searching for their unicorn adventure bike , but it’s all there to be done , your channel shows the way.👍
Good job Phil , great lookout I’ve been away for 4 weeks , got back on my DRZ today , yes they have some torque , and seem much more sure footed compared to the DR
Another really well put together video. I grew up in Upper Lansdowne and spent my youth riding trail bikes all through that comboyne region. It’s a stunning part of the world and I’d love to head back there one day on my WR250R. Love your work!
Beautiful again Phil; thanks for your thoughtful photography - there might be millions of adequate cameras in people's bags or pockets; carried past the sort of scenes you bother to emphasize; it's a bit like most of that technology is wasted! It seems to need 'attitude' rather than technology.. Anyway thanks for sharing again.
Well said, and thanks Ron! Yeah, so many people go straight past the very thing they're out to see. My old mate used to say, "You've got to smell the roses, not ride past them" I think he's spot on. Cheers 👍
Great camp out....love the things you cook.....who says you have to eat de-hydrated food. We don't have the long distance here away from a store....we carry a few supplies, but always close to a store to pick up fresh things......the rear tire is looking tired... Garth
Good one Phil, I'm keen to get the drone out around Comboyne Rock at sunrise, you've given me the insight I needed to give it a shot, thanks mate. Love Toms Creek Road, the views from the top are amazing and Kindee Bridge is a good little spot for some photos or video too, well put together.
Bloody awesome mate!! That was a speccy ride through there!!👌👌 how’s the views from that rock bloody hell!! I’ve never been up there will be up to check that out soon😮 Great vid mate cheers!!🍻
Get up there Sam, perfect family weekend away if you stay in Comboyne. Or camp down at Swans Crossing - and don't forget Ellenborough Falls for a video 😎👍
@@MidCoastAdventures We're keen on heading up for a night or two before the end of the year outside of the school holidays. Will let you know when we're heading up!
Excellent adventure vid mate. Great film work and editing. I especially like your filming skills, when it comes to the water shots. As always, the way you take the time to provide a link to your Google Maps, of your route, is always great to get a feel of just where it is you are adventuring, What do you use for your ride navigation? It's a great time to be alive with the amazing GPS and Sat/Navs we have access to these days. So much easier and confidence inspiring. The drone shot of the bridge at the end was cool. Really showed off the amazing engineering that still stands strong to this day! (PS: Shouted Ya some "coffees/ bourbons") 🙂 👍
Ah good on you Sean! 😎🙏 Good to hear your feedback on the videos mate. They're fun to make, and I enjoy the photography side, plus the editing 👍 Thanks again mate 😎
These are some very nice places to see, places I once wish I could have visited but I'll thank you for taking us there. You might be using this as a motorcycle video(And it Is) but you're also showing an artistic side w/ scenery along w/ editing skills. Takes all of that to deliver this to us...... thanks again. peace
Great little overnighter Phil, and just the most awesome scenery! I lived in Elands many moons ago and didn't know of Comboyne Rock - I'll be checking it out on my big trip next year 👍
Have you got a broken speedo cable mate, I noticed it wasn't working, I could of been looking at the wrong thing though, cheers mate keep up the good work.
@@MidCoastAdventures - bit of a lapse in mind and a poorly adjusted throttle cable were the culprits, copped a decent bruising to the leg but for an off at about 60km I got out with minimal damage... stay upright mate heh
When did you do this ride? A few months ago, I decided not to do the last bit of the ride to Comboyne Rock, due to the totally loose 30 mm gravel. Our Ural just couldn't get enough traction, and we started sliding back down the slope. We entered the forest from West of Kendall, passing Swan's Crossing.
@@MidCoastAdventures I crushed an ankle about 1½ years ago, so the loose stuff wasn't safe for me, sadly. I'll see how well it settles. We're often up there. Comboyne Plateau and Kerewong SF are special places, and Tom's Creek Road's our favourite way to get there.
Thanks mate 👍 As for NP and yhe drone, well basically it's not worth the effort . Need to apply for a permit no sooner than 10 days prior to your visit, so you have no idea what the weather will be. Best idea is simply fly the drone outside the official park. In the Comboyne Rock video, the whole area is state forest 👍

Question - how long does it take NP to respond to a request for permission to fly a drone in the park?
Is the process easy of a pain?
