We visited the ancient excavation site of Keeladi in Sivaganga district where the archaeological findings reveal the Sangam-era settlement on the banks of Vaigai river.
About 11,470 artifacts were dug out from Keezhadi and group of sites over sustained excavation over the years and these would be displayed at the site museum.
In a major turning point in the cultural historiography of the ancient Sangam Age, the Tamil Nadu Archaeology Department (TNAD) has stated that the cultural deposits unearthed during excavations at Keeladi in Sivaganga district could be safely dated to a period between 6th century BCE and 1st century CE.
This is the first time the date has been officially announced by the TNAD.
The new findings in the report, released on Thursday by Minister for Tamil Culture and Archaeology K. Pandiarajan here, place Keeladi artefacts about 300 years earlier than previously believed 3rd century BCE.
One of the six samples collected at the depth of 353 cm and sent for carbon dating test in the U.S. “goes back to 580 BCE,” Commissioner of Archaeology T. A Decent man in DMK
Mr. Mahesh has to do lot of work in his department. We expect more from him. He got an excellent opportunity to develop Tamil Nadu in education. He should concentrate on all kind of exam conducted by Central Government Neet Jee main NTSE UPSC RAILWAY EXAMS .. He has to provide a foundation to the students to meet all kind of such exams, who are studying in government schools. First of all he has to train the teachers to develop their knowledge and to serve a quality quality education. The education department spent in crores but the government school students do not get benefits as compared with other. If mr. Mahesh work sincerely to develop his department TN will become no 1 in India / World. அன்புடன் அறிவுடைநம்பி.
