CD vs SACD is like AM vs FM.

Lack of proper promotion of the SACD format, on Sony's part, is the biggest reason for the system not replacing the CDDA format. Sony had already taken over Columbia Records, which had a huge library of music, from which to draw. Sony dropped the ball, also, on offering the format for both home and car applications, at prices that were easily affordable. A car head unit, with SACD capability in both stereo and surround, would have kicked butt in most cars. While Sony did have at least one model, it wasn't widely distributed. As for discs, thank goodness for Dutton-
    Vocalion!

I wish it would have caught on more. It's my favorite format. I still buy them when they release something in sacd. Keeping my oppo forever.

I still purchase SACD's. I have a Marantz SA-10 reference SACD player - but I do rip all my SACD's to DSF files using a Sony S6500 universal player and the hacks available on the internet.

I've been an SACD fan ever since the first discs appeared in 1982 and I've had numerous SACD players in the intervening years. I currently have PS audio equipment for playing the discs and love it. I'm still buying the discs and download DSD albums - mainly DSD128 - as well now.

I think that SACDs are way too expensive. A good UK or Netherlands Import CD can really compete with the overall sound of the SACD for far less money.

Hi Chris, I appreciate your great videos and unique approach to subjects!
I found many times information that there is no equipment or almost never available in studios, so DSD gets converted to PCM for editing, mastering etc. This is real pitty for thisvinteresting format...
Looking forward for your new videos. All the best!

Hi, Yes i found that info too, but in theory they convert it to a very high version of PCM...
Thank you, I try to be continously dual language, even with delays.
      Best,
      Chris
