Despite Seider's numbers being lower in his second year, in the final stretch of the season I was really impressed by his consistency. He was out there working insanely hard every night, shutting down everybody and he started to show a little more offensive creativity, I think. I still remember a play in a tight game with Buffalo that I don't think mattered too much in the standings, but Seider had a shift where he just relentlessly pounded on a Buffalo skater until he finally got the puck from him and the crowd noticed how awesome the effort was and started cheering. He's so good at so many things that I feel like he has a legit shot at being the best D-man in the league. Purely because he's already so good, at such a young age.

      @AnaheimRob ปีที่แล้ว +1

How is it easier to find a Trevor Zergas? He is one of three, maybe four young players that are considered the "new faces of hockey". When the Ducks visit a city people buy a ticket not to see the Ducks but to see what Zergas will do. When Detroit comes to town people don't buy tickets to see what Seider is going to do. Seider had a down year compared to those in front of him in this re-draft as well. Seider is good, very good and might even be elite one day but realistically he hasn't earned a number two spot even if it is just a re-draft.

@@SuicidalGaming Absolutely. JJ had a great first 20 games or so and then disappeared for like 40 games before he played better at the end of the year. Jack was much more consistent but he definitely played like a rookie the whole year. Cozens year was really incredible considering he centered two pure rookies who really were green.
I came in to the year hoping Cozens would be a good #3 center in the NHL. He's clearly at least a #2 center in the NHL and you can't even say that's his ceiling for sure. He's still so young with his game being so defensively sound. He's in a good situation where they don't need him to be a #1, but I won't be surprised if you redraft this class in 5 years and he's #2 overall on the board.

Obviously with tage playing how he is it’s more of a 1a/1b situation giving us matchup versatility. Cozens will get selke votes sooner than later. He’s lowered his giveaways each year while increasing his takeaways and he’s becoming more and more physical. As soon as he sures up the face off dot which has also improved every year he’s gonna be all around the best center we have. Tage also needs to clean up his face offs.

I know you think Makar is the best defenseman in the league (along with just about everyone else), but if he's better than Toews, it's by a hair's width as far as I am concerned. Some would say that Jack Hughes was put in the NHL to early, but with his 2 first seasons pro being relativly bad, I'd say that Seider goes first in my redraft. Swedish defensemen of the year draft +2 and NHL rookie of the year draft +3 and top-2 defensemen in the NHL from the start is what you want on every NHL-team.

The Rangers absolutely have a development issue, especially when it comes to their forwards. We are talking about a team that has drafted just ONE forward in the last 30 years who has gone on to score 70 points for them in a single season. Embarrassing to say the least. This team has been bad at developing forwards for nearly 30 years now. Here’s an idea, how about letting Kakko and Lafreniere have some significant power play time for once and see what they can do, instead of putting them out there with under 30 seconds left on the PP as the puck is being dumped into your zone.

Ngl, Zegras, Boldy, and Cozens are dime a dozen every other draft. Seider IMO is clear #2 if not #1 if Hugh's didn't have the year he had last. Having a physically gifted puck carrier who is both elite in offense and defense doesn't come along often. There isn't a defenseman his age or younger that has the ceiling he has. Luke Hugh's is the closest, but we will see how he does this year. Seider at 5 is criminal IMO.

Couple of things - as a Sabres fan I take issue with your outright dismissal of Cozens as “dime a dozen”: in his first three years in the league he went 13 to 38 to 68 points, and he just turned 22 in February. He is also one of Buffalo’s best PKers and is a has great advanced stats. He is also tough as nails. Lastly, I see your Sieder and raise you a Power.

For people wondering why their team didn't have a pick, these are the trades in the first round for 2019 (info from wikipedia):
The Ottawa Senators' first-round pick (4th) went to the Colorado Avalanche as the result of the Matt Duchene for Kyle Turris, Shane Bowers, Andrew Hammond, a third-round pick in 2019 and this pick or the 2018 top 10 protected first.
The Philadelphia Flyers traded back from 11th to 14th and 45th with the Arizona Coyotes.
The Columbus Blue Jackets' first-round pick (19th) went to the Ottawa Senators as the result of the other Matt Duchene trade where him and Julius Bergman were sent to Columbus in exchange for Vitalii Abramov, Jonathan Davidsson, and this pick (top 3 protected)
The Winnipeg Jets' first-round pick (20th) was re-acquired in the Jacob Trouba trade for Neal Pionk and this pick. It had previously been sent to the Rangers in the Kevin Hayes trade for Brendan Lemieux, a conditional 2022 4th, and this top 3 protected 2019 first.
The Toronto Maple Leafs' first-round pick (22nd) went to the Los Angeles Kings as the result of a trade on January 28, 2019 that sent Jake Muzzin to Toronto in exchange for Carl Grundstrom, Sean Durzi and this pick.
The San Jose Sharks' first-round pick (29th) went to the Anaheim Ducks as the result of a trade on February 24, 2019 that sent Brandon Montour to Buffalo in exchange for Brendan Guhle and this pick (being conditional at the time of the trade). The condition - Anaheim will receive a first-round pick in 2019 if the Blues' first-round pick is between picks 20-31 then Anaheim will have the option to take either St. Louis or San Jose's first-round pick in 2019.
Buffalo previously acquired the 29th pick as the result of a trade on February 26, 2018 that sent Evander Kane to San Jose in exchange for Danny O'Regan, a conditional fourth-round pick in 2019 and this pick (being conditional at the time of the trade). The condition - Buffalo will receive a first-round pick in 2019 if Kane re-signs with the Sharks for the 2018-19 NHL season and if the Sharks qualify for the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs.
The St. Louis Blues' first-round pick (31st) went to the Buffalo Sabres as the result of a trade on July 1, 2018 that sent Ryan O'Reilly to St. Louis in exchange for Vladimir Sobotka, Patrik Berglund, Tage Thompson, a second-round pick in 2021 and this pick (being conditional at the time of the trade). The condition - Buffalo will receive a first-round pick in 2019 if the Blues first-round pick is outside of the top ten selections in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft - was converted when the Blues qualified for the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs on March 29, 2019.

I think Shannon is right in saying that assuming he stays healthy, he has all the goods to grow into a bona fide superstar in this league. Newhook at 13 is interesting because it implies the Avs perhaps gave up to early on him. In Colorado, opinion seems divided. To many he looks like Jost 2.0, to others the potential is still there. But perhaps Montreal will be a better place for him.
Kakko at 15 is worth having a conversation about. It always makes you scratch your head when a can't miss player turns out to struggle as much as he has. I think a fair amount of it comes down to how the Rangers mishandling their draft talent IMO.
