    • @bradleyj.fortner2203
      @bradleyj.fortner2203 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gordonliddy7971 Technichally it's called "media blasting" because you can run different types of abrasive media through it, such as crushed glass or walnut shells etc. Crushed glass resembles sand though, so Sand Blasting is the layman's term.

    Loved this little 3 parter. The only thing I would have done differently with the jeep, is during the original design at Tonka, I would have mounted the spare tyre inside the back section. But they didn't so you had to follow the original design. Still looked kick ass though. Great restorations, thanks for sharing 🙂

    • @TRGRESTORATIONS
      @TRGRESTORATIONS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a slot on the side and the back for the spare tire. Not sure why the side mount is a thing though, it looks weird and doesn't seem very practical.

      @@TRGRESTORATIONS oh cool. I didn't notice the slot for the back. Yeah side mounts always look strange. But oh well, Tonka thought it was a good idea lol, and that's what matters. Still looks sweet.

    Excellent collection. Are you going to build an airport? 😉 I think it is smart that you’ve lately pre-assembled some of the body before painting. They probably fit together more snuggly and you don’t have to deal with the powder coating cracking when you bend tabs into place. 👍👍👍

    Really nice restoration! Always amazes me how well the UV+peroxide treatments works taking the yellow out of old plastic. I also like the old school heat + oil anti-rust treatment - I like it a bit better than cold blueing. I think the coating you get is a bit more resilient (probably only useful for small parts like nuts and bolts and such).

    Great work, always love to watch your work. I do have two questions this time however.
    1- what did you use to heat those parts up with
    2- how did you do the rivets in the back. I have never seen anyone use anything but pop rivets in the back due to the fact they cannot get their rivet tool in the jeep

    • @TRGRESTORATIONS
      @TRGRESTORATIONS  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was a magnetic induction heater. My rivet tool fit in the back of the jeep, it just ended up not filming well, so it didn't make the final edit.

    The trilogy is completed Tim and all look great. Question: It might be none of my business, but I'm curious of the investment you've made in tools and the many specialty machines you have, not counting the laser printer to turn old neglected toys and tools into beautiful and functional toys and tools. Just a ball park figure Tim. I look forward to your next episode.💖 👍 🍻 ✌

      Hmmmm, if I counted and added up everything in my garage, I'd guess around $25K. A lot of what I have has been acquired through advertising and brand deals though, so out of pocket I've probably spent $15K

    • @robewalk2
      @robewalk2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TRGRESTORATIONS I'm guessing that investment must help you turn out some beautiful restorations. I've watched other channels doing similar restorations but without those tools and machines the results are not in the league as yours.
