The American 3-time World Cup Nordic Ski Sprint Champ, Kikkan Randall, has set elite standards since 2002 when she showed the world what drug-free, Prefontaine-inspired hard work could accomplish. She also demonstrated, with support from teammates, sponsors, and family spirit, what "elite" can be in relation to competition at the World's most prized amateur level competition--- the Olympics. In four visits she demonstrated grace, determination, and fun. Without the basic principles Coach Fleck mentions, and fun, elitism can eventually become mundane, methodical, and pedantic. The European-originated, and dominated by Europeans, sport of Nordic Skiing now has a new direction due to a new form of elite-thinking---the American Team(starring Minnesotan Jesse Diggins). Coach Fleck is on the right path. Make it fun for all---and all will benefit.
