I started raising queens for myself for that same reason, when the queens start loosing control of the nest , its time to put a new young queen, she will get the nest organized. I stop giving queens chances to get better, its working alot better for me now.
After our visit with you Saturday morning, we got back into our hive Sunday. I'm pretty pleased with what I seen with brood production and structure. I learned several things with what I saw with their production on the added frames I gave them. It's definitely interesting!
I've had a few of mine that just want to backfill the brood nest, to heck with the supers....I've been pulling a frame or two every week of nectar and replacing them, all while the drawn supers above just sit there. I've filled a couple of deeps of honey that way this year.
Ive got a bunch that look like yours except i dont have time to check on why. Besides the nearly daily rains i think i should have fed them in the early Spring. I think they are putting the nectar in the bottom because it was so empty.

Homegrown queens are the best. Organization tells me a lot about how things are going inside the hive.
You got some mean girls there Troy! Haha! “Smoke em till their eyes water.” 🤣 I gotta start using that! Lol
Hurt for 2 days and I still didn’t get no sympathy. Lol

I enjoyed the visit. Welcome to the addiction.

It’s always so hard to say and so easy to second guess yourself. Hopefully we’ll still get some honey out of those hives.
Yo! ❤
