    The point here is for the kickboxer to improve his boxing technique. That is why they are sparring under boxing rules. There is no point of sparring under kickboxing rules if the boxer has zero plan on transitioning to kickboxing. Spar to learn, not to build up your ego

      @@peterdering8744 I was adding to it. It's like Mcgreggor v. Mayweather, It was hard for McGreggor to compete in pure boxing against one of the GOATs in the sport, though if the roles were reverse and it was in the octagon the same would be true for Floyd. I'm just saying the boxer probably would've had a harder time in kickboxing especially since the dude got some height on him.

      Truth bro I’ve gotten fucked up in sparring , one shot I got hit with changed me. Egos ain’t worth it , when you come from those rugged gyms ppl often look down on light sparring. You still gotta let them know your here to work not to KO each other. Hard sparring should be done getting closer to the fight , but most of the sparring sessions you do should be slowed down so you can see things come. Save the power for the real fight.

    One of the best sparrings I've ever seen, they both focus on everything, strenght, endurance for hits, many ways and forms of defense in Boxing, stamina, cardio, focus, respect and being humble with your sparring partner before, during and after the match. I can see the blue trunks guy has a nice head movement and footwork, while the other is looking more for power punches (but none of them is going to throw a full contact power punch since this is just a medium intensity sparring, nobody would be happy knowing that they just got a head trauma that could pay off in many years later). They both learn from their own styles developing and fighting with other boxing styles on the ring, totally remarkable. That's why I love Boxing, if you're a humble warrior with a great heart and mind, you can be stronger than yesterday everyday.

    I did both boxing and kickboxing. Obviously the boxer would have trouble if kicks were allowed, but a lot of you seem to forget that a big part of kickboxing is also striking with hands. That is the point of this sparring match, for the kickboxer to improve his striking with his hands. Stop stating the obvious when ya say that the boxer would get fucked up if kicks were allowed. This isn't a boxing vs. kickboxing match, this is a kickboxer working on his striking against a boxer in sparring.

    The boxer was very good but let's be real. Every single time he slips and ducks down that's a potential shin/knee to the face. So while I appreciate his skill and the beauty of pure boxing, kickboxing is superior.

      Superior for what ? What's your point ?

    • @righthook5425
      @righthook5425 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It's not that easy. People do slips and ducks in MMA and most of the time it works. A good boxer who doesn't bite on faints and knows how to slip and move would never get caught. (Of course, you can't use all the slips)

    • @levity90
      @levity90 3 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      @@righthook5425 people do slips in MMA but they don't dip their head off the center line nearly as far as boxers do when slipping/ducking. Pure boxing allows for those exaggerated dips/slips. Mike Tyson is a great example. Rose Namajunas does beautiful slips and is a fighter who showcases wonderful boxing in her fights but slipping always poses a risk. Joanna caught Valentina shevchenko with a beautiful right high kick because valentina almost always slips to her left when someone punches her. She barely took her head off the center line but it was enough for joanna to capitalize on it. Slipping always poses a risk in MMA/kickboxing.

    • @levity90
      @levity90 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@righthook5425 to add to that, pure boxers tend to stand very heavy on their lead leg and/or adopt a wide stance leaving them open to leg kicks. Which is exactly what happened to rose in her second fight with Joanna. In a third fight between them, assuming they keep their respective styles, Joanna would probably win because she would capitalize on those leg kicks immediately. Rose's wide boxing stance and heavy lead leg make it nearly impossible for her to effectively check kicks.

    It's always very apparent to me whose who in these types of sparring vids. Boxers maintain smooth, minimal defense since they don't have to worry about leg kicks or takedowns. It's just the natural order of things. Kickboxing/MMA stance has to account for so many other variables, thus the boxing base is somewhat compromised.

      Very true though. We had a boxer come into our mma gym once to try it out, and he got all lectury on me telling me I'm standing wrong, guarding wrong, punching wrong, etc. I tried explaining to him that you can't fight in mma as you do in boxing because you'll get your legs chopped to shit and you'll be tackled on your ass. He just kinda scoffed and nodded his head but said no more.
