This is a lot of great, practical advice. I'm curious for your thoughts on how to jump from no budget, it's only really you, projects to projects with small budgets and crews
i have another video coming about how to direct on your first films, so hopefully that helps! My big tip for that step up is to recruit your crew carefully, balancing temperament as well as skill. If you crew well, then you can rely on your crew’s instincts and give them plenty of room to work, and you’ll have an easier time. Oh, and remember that the director is the captain of the ship, and their mood dictates mood on set, so be calm, nice and considerate, and everything will be fine!
yes that's an amazing tool! You can also see how far low budget filmmaking tech has come in that time - and yet the core ideas / best qualities of a good film have remained the same.

Something that is helping me write my first screenplay is watching old shorts from Big name artists like David Lynch
