- Fanatec have just released updated drivers and firmware for just about all their gear, as well as an updated version of Fanalab, so I thought today was the perfect opportunity to show you how to install them.
There are a few things I do in addition to Fanatec's instructions which seems to help streamline things and reduce problems. So I hope this helps!

Thank you so much for your video on how to update the drivers! Just spent the last two days setting up my DD1 and Porsche GT3 wheel and button module and had a frustrating time getting it to work properly. The reason being is I didn't update the firmware properly and in the sequential order that you use. Works properly now and just need to fine tune the settings in ACC, Dirt 4 F12020 etc. I thought I just made an hugely expensive mistake but finding out that I didn't! Thanks you!

Well good to see fanalab has an updated version that is not classed as beta, now to hope a updated driver/firmware package that isn’t classed beta is coming soon...

Sorry for not knowing anything, but do you have to do a firmware update if you use (a csl elite for instance) on a ps4?

Hi,when running an update is it possible on a laptop or do you need a p.c ?
Hello I would like to ask a question. A friend of mine wanted to update his driver from 328 to 381. Something failed in the update (it says a hex file failed something like that) and the button power on off stacked like it was updating. We waited for about 10 minutes and nothing happened so we unplagged the usb and plugged it again but the usb was not recognised. That button remained the same like it was updating so in simple words it stacked completely. He then unplugged the whole base absolutely and now the base cannot open :((

Yes with the usb cord to pc, not with the cord that goes to the wheelbase and also not with both cords plugged in at the same time, can only be updated while connected directly to the pc
So what happens when you get to the flash firmware page and in the message log it keeps saying "failed to load firmware " now what??? Please help

Just got my DD1. This is really super helpful. Thanks so much. Just have one question before I update mine. Do i need to unplug also my pedal, shifter, handbrake and kill switch from the base before I update? Thanks

Same process. Just choose them from the game device list instead of the wheelbase (needs to be connected via USB)
@@boostedmedia so leave the wheel base powered on, disconnect the USB from the computer, and run a USB straight from the pedal set? Should the pedal set be plugged in to anything at all during the initial base and wheel hub update?
Is this the same process to use on a new wheelbase install? I understand I will not be uninstalling previous drivers and firmware. This will be my 1st Fanatec base and wheel.

My wheelbase doesn’t even get detected on my pc at all anymore... it worked just fine days ago, came back and it just won’t detect on the pic whatsoever...

Hey Will, thank you very much for this information. Please if you dont mind could you make a video of your experience with using the new drivers to see if there is any difference in the experience? Im using an older version of firmware and drivers as i have found these to suit me quite nicely so im a bit reluctant to update.

Week of getting no where then found this video. Problems solved.
Very important he’s right turn off those antivirus I had a base that got locked into boot loader mode. There is nothing you can do from that point on.
I wonder if uninstalling with the wheel not even plugged in to the PC would that leave behind files?
I’m very surprised Fanatec hasn’t released their own video for someone like me who has to start from absolute scratch. I have zero experience with computers and would prefer to pay someone else to remotely update my gear. Also, nobody reads in 2021. That manual is getting binned. 😄
I cant flash anything. Soon as i hit uodate. The firmware manager just goes not responding
I have a CSW V2. It's not showing up in the Fanatec Wheel Properties Page no matter what I do. iRacing doesn't see it. But it will update firmware and shows connected in the Devices Control Panel.
I have tried different USB ports. Uninstalled Driver and fresh install with wheel On and Off.
This suddenly happened after my daughter, out of habit pressed the power button while I had Crewchief, iRacing and irFFB running.
I think I've tried every combination of things and still won't show in the Fanatec Wheel Properties Page.
Any help would be appreciated before the whole thing goes out of the window
I did this but didn't take the wheel off. Now the base refuses to give full torque, as it thinks my Formula Carbon wheel has the light/econo version of the quick connect, which it doesn't. I will redo using your instructions.

You seem to be the MASTER of FANATEC and I have some question. I am a very patient person, but after almost 24 hours fiddling around, the sledgehammer next to me looks very inviting to be honest. I use to drive with an HORI sterring wheel and pedals, never had any problems, besides the fact that I always drove in the back. The opportunity came to buy a FANATEC CSL ELITE F1 SET from a friend of mine who passed away. Installed it on my PS4 and was very excited to start racing in front of the pack. But.....the pedals didn't work at all. Checked all the cables and they are correctly connected. So, what to do next?
-Working on a iMac, how do I update the FRIMWARE?
-My wheel is working perfectly but the pedals don't. What am I doing wrong or what to do?
I watched your videos but I can't find an answer to my questions, I hope you have an answer for me. Maybe Facetime will help me a lot so you can see what I am doing, how everything is connected. PLEASE don't let me get back to my HORI steering wheel and pedals...

Should the motor firmware show 0 or should there be a number in there? I've had a problem with the base not going into Xbox mode (green ring) and staying in PC mode. Fanatec repaired it and sent it back but it still won't come out of PC mode. They're trying to get me to go back and install old drivers but each time I do the motor firmware shows 0.
Super fun experience before finding the video... now things appear to be working a bit better. At least all my software is seeing all of my Fanatec Hardware... Thanks, Sir.
Am now seeing that Fanalab is not seeing my pedals - I've read through readme files and troubleshooting and not seeing anything. Any help would be appreciated.
Nothing has worked . Im still trying to update my 2.5 . I keep getting the program is not responding. Grrr

It might be interesting (in order to be complete) to mention that the csw2.5 switches to Xbox-mode after a firmware update.
It's because he's using a DD2. My CSL Elite switched to PS4 after the initial firmware update.
@@TheBrennanSchafer no, it's because when you have a Xbox compatible wheel attached then the base will always default into Xbox mode after a firmware update, on all bases.
@@momorious hmmm, that was not the case for me. Mine started in PS4 mode even though I had the xbox compatible Formula V2 wheel on it.
Well I bought the Fanatec DD1, F1 wheel bundle, followed the instructions, went to the Fanatec website downloaded what I thought were the appropriate drivers, but they were not, and Fanatec would know it, I followed your intructions and the beta driver you recommended worked on my American Truck Simulator, but does not recogness my DD1 on my Project Cars 11 no matter what I do?
Hey Will .. great video, very helpful! All pretty smooth on my CSW2.5 with a Formula 2019 rim. Only thing is, it doesn't appear that there was a new motor firmware? Mine was running FW22, and I cannot find a Release note that says there is a newer one!
Followed all the steps but when I start the firmware update process The message log says "Default Hex loading failed" and I can't update the firmware.
I’d try downloading the driver package and installing again. Make sure to enable administrator privileges too.
@@boostedmedia I've tried that now several times same result sadly. I'm already the admin so that shouldn't be the problem hopefully. Thanks for the reply.
what can be done if the base is possibly bricked - after updating to 402 and accepting firmware update, the unit no longer responds
with power on, pressing the start buton, it operates as a momentary switch and only the fan runs
I found rolling back the motor firmware while keeping the latest driver is best
You don't need to remove the steering wheel from the base when updating the WB firmware Will, it actually is better to leave it attached for the following steps.
I disagree. I’ve had problems in the past with flashing the base and motor firmware while a wheel is attached.
@@boostedmedia Ofc you need to detach the wheel for the motor firmware, but it's not necessary for the WB firmware
I find it more reliable to have the wheel disconnected for both. Just sharing my personal experience having flashed hundreds of times.
@@boostedmedia I think it goes well both ways. I always flash the WB FW with the rim attached, also a thousand times already :P Nevertheless great video, which will help alot of people having trouble updating driver and firmware! Keep it up!

my hub works and it shows up in fanalab but when im in "fanatec wheel properties" and go to update tab all that shows up is the "wheel base firmware" and the "wheel base motor firmware" it does not show any version for my hub at all so i cant check for a firmware update im using the latest beta drivers . if i plug the wheel out of the dd1 and put it back in i dont get a prompt to update drivers like you did for the hub at all neither does the hub show up in "fanatec wheel property page" . i just bought the whole setup and was just wondering was i doing something wrong .im not savy when it comes to software etc if ya could help that would be great .also there is nothing showing up on the hubs little screen thing !!should there be at all times? thanks in advance
Hi will, im having an issue with my csl elite pedals input not being read by the software. The RJ12 cable is fine (alot of people said that was the cause of the issues but mine is fine). When i press the throttle or brake the bar that should indicate they are being pressed does not light up. I literally just got these and would hate to send them back already. any help would be greatly appreciated!
Just done it fingers crossed it works okay i have a csw and mine seemed to be a little different when i open fanalab wheel properties it only shows csw 2.5 ×2 it doesnt show my pedals and my shifter
Do you know if the new beta drivers like v381 will work on a old CSR Elite wheel? If not where would I find the newest drivers for windows 10 for the 8 year old CSR Elite wheel?
You skipped a step in 8:59. When you look for a firmwarefile and you return without choosing one the flash-button on the left gets greyed, you can't continue using the default file, the wheelbase is still in upgrade-mode and it gets stuck there. How to get out of upgrade-mode to restart the upgrading-process?
I explained in the video that you only need to do that if you’re selecting a file manually.
To get out of bootloader mode just disconnect the power. Then reconnect and turn the base on as normal.
I have the regular CSL Elite with the Official F1 wheel and I only ever got Wheel Base Firmware and Wheel Base Motor Firmware. I never got any other updates for the wheel itself. is this a bad thing?

I have just bought a Wheelbase V2 with pedals V2 and I need download new firmware. For this, I plug my wheelbase and my pedals via a usb cable, I download the new update, I inject it and then I just have to calibrate my steering wheel? That’s correct ?
The latest firmware i found is 64Bit v328

I have just got Fanatec gear to use on my Xbox One X. Do i need to update this new gear? If so, is it the same process? I assume Fanalab is a PC only thing?

Hi my name is damien and over the last few days I had a problem with my v2 wheel the buttons completely stopped working so I decided to update everything and thanks to your video it went well until I got to the last part and attempted to do the wheel... the update is getting to 100% and says it is complete but does not say i can close the fanatec update... when I go in to the fanatec property page the wheel says firmware 0... any ideas... I have tried to update multiple times

I’m trying to do this but it’s not showing my wheel up when I put this in it only shows the V2.5 base so I’m unable to update my wheel as a separate update advise you can give to help
Go to the updates tab and all the connected Fanatec devices should be listed
@@boostedmedia thank you so much for you response as it’s driving me mad lol so I’ve gone in and the wheel icon is greyed out I’ve done the firmware update then reset pc then it says put wheel on to calibrate then press ok so I put the wheel on and press ok bit it doesn’t appear that it’s recognising the wheel being added and doesn’t offer me a wheel update. When I go into properties and across the wheel is greyed out I’m worried it’s faulty
I’d try disconnecting power to the base and rebooting the PC.
@@boostedmedia Thank you I’ve managed to get it to work. Can I be a pain and ask one further question I’ve set it up with the brake performance kit and set it to soft and nbr 1 on the pedal dial but I find it to be really hard as the travel distance from low to hi is so minimal, on my previous pedals I was used to much more throw on the break. Is there a way to use the performance kit but have more throw on the brake peddle. Thanks

The issues are not updating the firmware. It's finding the correct one that work for what you have. Each wheel works on different Beta firmware and Fanatec has dropped the ball here. I would have liked to have seen something hey the V2.5 runs well on 347 and so on. If you put the best option in that be not be the latest firmware. As many have nightmares trying to drop back to a early beta firmware. One of the main reasons I'm looking forward to your Simucube reviews coming up. I would like to buy one of their wheel DD bases just not sure if it's the sport or Pro. Keep the info coming. Fantatec has approved firmware that is 3 years old yet many Beta firmwares release have come that never become approved because they don't work. Just read there forums.
The new 372 driver is suitable for all current model wheelbases
@@boostedmedia Sorry to disappoint you but, my wheel knocks and feels very grainy on 372. With my V2.5 347 works much better. Some wheels are working with it and some are not. Spend some time in the forums as I'm not the only one.
@Fast C The best driver for V2.5 is 347 IMO I run Heusinkveld sprint pedals so I'm not sure if they work or not.
@@logo8009 i'm on driver 311 & firmware 628 and have a v2.5 everything works any need to go to driver 347 or 373. I dont have the podium shifter add on and that the only thing i saw on the change log that hand something about drift

@@juster2432 I feel the 347 is the best feeling and a little smoother than 311. I have not tried the 373 but, it's because many have had issues with it. I also installed Fanalab with the drive 347.
Looks like this video is a little outdated now. It appears there is no need to use Fanates wheel property page. Doesn't even show up for me at all.
Should I do the same for CSL DD? Mine is on the way here but read many are having problem updating their CSL DD. Very worried.
I didn’t have any issues updating mine but I’ve seen a few people having issues. Maybe wait a week or two to see if they release another update.

It’s best to if you have access to a computer but not required.

Click on the update rev and see if there is an update suggested from there. I’d not then don’t worry about it.

It will only show in Fanalab when connected with the USB adapter, not when connected to the base.

When updating my DD1 to 373 following your instructions all went well (DD1 and Podium hub with the R300 rim updated Firmware. My F1 black, BMW GT2 plus Round 1 and Classic brown - both with the gen1 hub works fine no update needed) all except my F1 2020 wheel. Then update stopped halfway with error. Now the F1 2020 is not recognized and motors inside the rim are vibrating. Tried “repair” but the no luck. In FanaLab the F1 2020 shows up as a CSL Elite wheel. Help would be appreciated. Contacted support no answer so far.
Have you tried removing the wheel from the base and then putting it back on?
Other than that you may have to wait for support to respond.
