honestly had the same reaction to call me back. heard the live version so much, hearing the studio version is an other wordly experience especially with headphones. Elsewhere is one of my favorite tracks from him. the ending of it has some of the most beautifully written lyrics from him hands down.
pretty sure Elsewhere is about his friend who passed away sadly. once i found that out the song takes a whole new meaning

seems like all the ppl who liked eden for poppy stuff aren't liking this one too much but those who have listened to more electro and "weirder" stuff aren't too phased by some of the choices here and can enjoy it

my pov is i love music and different types and he is creative with his choices and implementations and i also really relate to the underlying messages. making it like a cherry on top for me. I also loved no future.

      Exactly!
I used to be a normie music listener who would only ever listen to Wake Up. Every time I'd give a listen to vertigo or any of his songs that were not really normal, I'd be like man this sucks. Slowly with time, I started to notice his lyrics were getting stuck in my head and I think that's when the Mere Exposure effect started playing and I'd listen to those songs again and boom! Instantly falling in love with them.
Now I'm at a point where a single instrument or a single quote or even a single word of him can be sung or delivered in a way that makes me tear up.
I.E. the way he says, "what a fucking loser" is just so amazing...
He made me fall in love with music and appreciating it outside of the normal pop zone to the point where I am experimenting with music on my own. :D

Bro I fk with u. I like that this is such a raw take. So many people try to mask their reactions and stuff. I feel like you’re just being yourself.
When you said the thing about a drum and bass concert for whales I was crackin up

@@TGPgrxy also i think ur right that eden fans are not gonna like this album lol. Sucks for them tho, cuz this is the start of a new chapter it looks like. and this man is innovating the next wave of electronic indie music. This album was like James Blake meets Daft Punk, meets Radiohead.

@@philsimons8762 I will always remember how jon called his music genre "conscious" and i love that. whatever he feels better executes the feeling and thoughts work and he makes them work.
Expectations are the thief of joy.

Amazing album from him. This is the fastest one of his albums has clicked for me.
Vertigo i listened a few times but didn’t really feel it until i came back to it a few months later during probably the shittiest time of my life, and that shit hit me like a truck.
Everything he said resonated with me. The ending of forever//over then made me realize things will get better, eventually
    “'Cause everything is not alright
    And we are falling
But that's just life, without some lows there is no highs
    And everything will be okay
    Though we are all hurting
'Cause time flies fast and you know, no pain is forever…ever”
No Future i liked at first but still took a couple weeks of listening for me fully understand what i was listening to.
This? Reminds me of when End Credits dropped, blessed my fucking ears and everything radiates with me instantly. Amazing work.

All of Eden’s music ages so well to me and being able to look back at home much I’ve grown when i listened to his older music and how much he’s grown aswell just makes his newer stuff so much more impactful to me, especially at the early exposures. Start//end changed my life and was the clear indicator for his new sonic direction to me. I also love that he leaves some gray area in his music. I think that’s what really makes it so compelling for listeners and still allows him to put his soul into his music.

You are like me because that's exactly how much time it me to like each respective album that you mentioned. The vertigo part was same for me however, I found beauty in falling in reverse and for me, it's the most beautiful piece of art ever made. The entire album of vertigo being a journey from a regretful piece (wrong) to moving on (love; not wrong) and then waving a goodbye in falling in reverse.
The reversed version melody of falling in reverse just tears me up..

Sci-Fi - to me the video is about his seeking of fame (like Wake-Up), when he leaves her in pursuit of his dreams. Top of the tower looking down he is alone, unhappy and off-balance. She comes back, back he's not able to be with her despite her attempts. He ends up losing what fame he had, being overlooked by models and only fleetingly getting glimpses of fame in their limelight. After it all passes he returns to her without the fame and happy now. At least that's what I got from watching it just now hah.

i get that. it kinda plays into the idea towards the end of call me back where he talks about looking back some day and laughing about the memories.
