I used to complain that the guitar part was stolen from Nazareth-Hair of the Dog, then a couple of years ago I read that Nazareth nicked it from another song.
Years ago a British classic rock magazine did a story on Edward Van Halen and the making of his solo on Beat It . All he wanted was some Coors to drink . He showed up with his amp and other gear and after they miked his rig to the recording studio he did some playing and it started a fire with the recording equipment . Michael loved the solo and quietly talked to Quincy Jones then asked Edward how much he wanted to be paid . Edward responded he didn't want any money . He did it as a favor . Contrary to all the other lies by Sammy Hagar's 💩ty book RED , Edward wasn't always a greedy person always concerned about money . I still don't see how Hagar's book got printed with proven flat out LIES .
It is a misleading title. There's nothing new to the story. EVH only played the solo and he did change the rhythm(chord structure) for it, but Lukather took care of the rest.
I rank a lot of guitar players over EVH. Even those who are "less skilled." I think EVH was good and had his own guitar style but he's a bit overrated.
@@WinterInTheForest you gotta be kidding that no one has heard of Steve Lukather. His band Toto has multiple platinum albums. His list of sessions credits is miles long. He is a frequent member of Ringo Starr's All Starr Band.
