As an ESTJ, it took me awhile to learn that my commanding attitude should be used mostly in situations where things in chaos needs to be verbally/physically brought together. I usually saw patterns in my friend group, since they are usually FP types, to learn and educate myself that everyone is not like me, and that's ok.

So glad to watch your discussion on "developed" ENFPs. In the comments in another video I was slammed by an ENFP hater, when I mentioned the positive traits of my ENFP significant other. I was told that apparently as an INTP I am too naive, clueless and/or stupid to see that a flakey ENFP is going to do "inevitable betrayal" (cue Wash & the dinosaur scene in Firefly). Instead, my SO exhibits the positive traits described here by Frank: mentorship, the ability to know when to stay, creativity, and caring. He absolutely is a chaos-monkey, and he loves new things, new people and he exhibits that in a myriad of ways. He love "authentic" people and he loves learning about people. He is also as steadfast, loyal and committed as they come, with an amazing inner personal "code" that he not only can verbalize, he lives it. While all people are unique, he's a stereotypical adorkable "character" and very much marching to the beat of his own drum. He's a brilliant scientist, but has worn many "hats" over his lifetime. Our NPs positively sing together. So much fun! So much intuitive, creative discussions! His E brings my I out of my comfort zone, in a good way. His Fi speaks beautifully with my Fe. Any type can be well-formed or not. People, such as the hater on the other video, need to understand that MBTI isn't destiny or fate, it isn't one-size-fits-all, that many things contribute to how the MTBI is expressed. Both my ENFP SO and I are poster-children for our types, but we are also more than that.

Thank you so much for sharing such a lovely example of a heathy relationship and how everyone can be more than their type’s stereotype. I’m an ENFP and I have always been loyal and committed in all relationships. I’m currently dating an INFP that has been my bestie for 25 years. I would never hurt him by being flaky or worse. My late husband was an ISTJ and we were so complimentary. I worry slightly that my INFP BF and I are too similar. But your comment gives me excitement and hope that we can be a good team too.

I'm an INTJ and I have friends who are sensory type. The pros are that I learn to live, observe and enjoy the moment meanwhile the cons are... You know, you feel bad about it and you feel like you're losing yourself but when you look at the bright side of being with people you know a lot. INTJs are more likely to be reserve anyway and will become disinterested in th SEs. My advice to my fellow intj's is that get out there once in a while :)

Not sure about INFP. I think this type tends to avoid conflict as much as possible, even to an extent where they ghost/go along with it while hating it/are in pain, etc. So I would say an INFP at their best is one that can handle conflict in a healthy way without beating themselves up about it but also standing up for themselves and taking others feelings into consideration. Just a personal opinion 🌻

Having a certain personality is basically how you are made and there are maybe some chances that you haven't yet developed a personality or have truly figured out yet.
They are like an ability and your IQ/EQ is the level of how long can you take it just like they show in fictional movies / anime. don't be discourage about not being an INTJ/ENTJ or any personality type that has been told to be the smartest of all but they are not the best of all. its just how you perceive your life goals to be and where you find your happiness in your life, a person with 200IQ can be a farmer because they love doing that according to their personality.
I wonder if you just read what i wrote, its harder for people to read long opinions and if you did you're somehow smart.

It reminds of that time not so long ago when my ENTP friend nearly cried because he wanted every day to be different yet all his days are the same. [and it wasn't too easy to convince him that instead of making "every day different" he should just build a more joyfull routine]

    • @harmreductionman4474
      @harmreductionman4474 ปีที่แล้ว +12

As an ENTP, it can feel irrationally irritating to simply repeat myself once in a conversation after someone doesn't hear what I said. However, when I have to repeat myself because someone doesn't _understand_ what I said, then it's much more intellectually challenging and therefore more engaging and less frustrating.
My partner recently asked me why that was. I'd honestly never thought about it, but I realized that it had a lot of relevance for how I live my life day to day. Whether I'm repeating my point in a conversation or I'm repeating my tasks in a day, how I do something is often more important than what I'm doing. If I say the same thing multiple times, but experiment with different framing, phrasing, framing, tone, body language, etc., it can even be fun. If I do the same thing for multiple days, but experiment with different techniques, collaborators, timing, etc., it can be similarly fun.
So, if your friend is like me, maybe he can make every day different by doing the same things in different ways. This might sound strange, but personally even a really good daily routine filled with things I love will eventually grow stale and feel oppressive. Variety is absolutely critical, even if it's just variety in how I'm working out or how I'm commuting to work.

Not really too excited about the prospect of graduation still, unlike my peers; I just want to get the diploma then move on to the next big thing. I'm an INFP and I've always had an issue with confrontation, and I've always avoided conflict like the plague. I've recently come to the realization that I have gotten so accustomed to lying about what I believe or think just to appease the other person and make them think that I agree with them. I do not think that my best self is the person I've let myself develop into. I think there is a balance when it comes to discussing beliefs, thoughts, opinions, and values. So no, I don't believe that removing yourself from the situation is an INFP at their best. Obviously, you need to be respectful of other people's beliefs and understand that other people think differently than you and that what they think or believe isn't bad, but it's better to not be so agreeable. It is not worth the distress that comes from a dissonance between what you say to other people and what you truly think and feel.

Great video, Frank! I love that you brought this up; not many people talk about how amazing healthy MBTI are. Fully developed MBTI gives me so much joy.
I do have a few things to add: I have an ISTP dad and an ESTJ aunt, and there's way more development in them than just gaining control over their dominant function. ISTPs start to care more about what makes others happy and actively enjoy communicating with people and finding things in common to talk about, and they are very patient and calm even while dealing with emotions. My ESTJ aunt has developed inner values that she strongly stands by and while those values may come off as imposition when she tries to suggest them (because of her slight inability to communicate them properly because of her Te) it's still obvious that she is just sharing what she thinks is right and may make life easier for another person. They're also really goofy around loved ones and take management errors more patiently.
INFPs as well, I think---solely out of personal experience---that they avoid being too hard on themselves and try to enjoy the moment so they can store it as a meaningful memory. I think I'm participating more than life than simply being a wallflower and trying to exist in an outer world, and try to actually solve problems for my loved ones while understanding their feelings. This might just be a personal thing but I'm taking bluntness and criticism a lot better and there's a zest for doing better and fixing problems rather than chasing for an arbitrary level of perfection, and it's way easier to exist and really invest in real life now.

INFP's can be very difficult. As INTP it's not hard to understand their feelings, BUT since they're so sensitive, they are really defensive and this will not work in a relationship where you have to communicate and be open to keep the relationship going. I feel like it's like a sinking ship with INFP, the way is only down since they hide so much about themselves. That's why they're so lonely. Anyway, probably healthy INFP can maintain relationship but they really have to learn how others feel and not just focus on their own feelings.

But that's hard so we'd rather bottle it up and just run mental simulations in our imagination.

I did not even know people did that until my INFJ best friend told me she does that 😂 I am at my worst when I try to use Ti with Fe, that turns into insanity at its core. I use Ti as my dominant function to make connections to things, Ne allows me to have the idea to execute, Si works in the background that helps me remember key details as visual memory, then backed up by Fe to give me a social purpose of doing what I want to do. INFPs feeling alone in the world makes a lot of sense.

Maybe I’m an infj (vs INFP?), lol. Back in junior high many eons ago, I got yelled at for answering incorrectly, apparently: “do you learn best from your own mistakes, or from the mistakes of others?” Well, I thought at the time, if you are observant enough you can learn more if you don’t wait to make every mistake yourself”.

INFJ and INTJ are both true for me. That third letter is hard for me to figure out.

It's just figuring out if you act more from an emotional standpoint or a logical standpoint. Not the absence of one or another but the prominence

It means you are in contact both with your thoughts and feelings the same. You would speak your mind the same as telling how you feel.
      Quite developing for the personality.

When you learn that as an ISFP, you are basically on top of your game and fully matured. Can't say I was expecting that!

The ESFP one is so true it hurts. My friend got into an argument with an ESFP and his basic complaint boiled down to 'He's mad but he can't tell me why he's mad, he wants something from me but he can't tell me what that is, he doesn't even know what he wants out of life, trying to get anywhere with him at this point is beyond frustrating'
