Great video! Thanks for all of the tips and tricks. We love our compost bin. It's definitely an art to learn over the years. LOL we've been starting to practice adding our leftover plain black coffee to our bin to add more liquid and nitrogen.
I do not have a smelly compost problem, because I pretty much only use grass trimmings and sawdust. However I do have one side of my compost tumbler that is all clumpy. I may not have added enough sawdust or I added too much water. Is there a way to correct clumpy compost? The other side is looking pretty good. I had a neighbor who was grinding up a stump, so I got a few bags and added some of that to that side and it is looking pretty good. No Clumps...
Mine clumps up too. I think it’s from the humidity and rain here. Once I can tell it’s finished breaking down, I pour it out onto a tarp and let it dry out a bit and that solves the problem for me.
I started my compost on July 2nd. I have a double sided compost tumbler. When should I stop adding to the one side and begin the second side. Also, when I stop adding to the compost would I still turn it on a regular basis?
I usually fill it till it’s completely full but you can really stop whenever you like. Just remember, it will reduce by about 2/3 so it will get a lot smaller. Yes, continue turning it regularly. It will help process it quicker.
What’s your favorite material to add to your compost bin?
Spray paint one of the SOBs! My eye attracts to color coding. Much easier for our brains. Thanks for the awesome gardening tips!!
That’s a really great idea!

@@HomegrownFloridaZ9a Thank you so much. Please forgive me with all the questions. Very new at all of this and I find you very knowledgeable.
@@katherinekalinowski1967 no worries. I love helping. Ask as many questions as you like 👩🌾
I would have taken the easy way out and just buy another tumbler or start a pile on the ground. 😂
🤣 That would have been less work for sure!
