Yes, Cummins made a V6 engine back in the day. I'm thinking it was a V-378. Basically the same as the 504 and 555 V8's with 2 less cylinders. I worked on a couple of them in Michigan wheel loaders back in the 80's

Ben, back in 1980 I bought a green, 1966 International R-1100 long bed, 3/4 ton, 4x4 pickup with air overload shocks. I can't remember if it had the 304 or 345 ci engine, but man that beast had power! That truck was in pristine condition and the only thing I didn't like about it was it has split rims. I remember the lug nuts were left hand threads on the left side of the truck. I bought the Truck in Casper, WY and brought it back to Bozeman, Mt that fall when I started college at MSU. It had a four speed on the floor and would glide down the highway like a "Caddy" all day long at 80 mph and would climb a telephone pole in four wheel drive in granny gear! Gas mileage was about 12 mpg on the highway and about 6 mpg in town, kinda hard on this poor college student back then.
I loved that truck and drove it for ten years until I got married, then had to sell it. If you ever run across another truck like mine, I would be very interested to talk to you about buying it. thanks, Kevin

    Cummins V-diesel range extended
    • The range of Cummins V6 and V8 diesel engines made in Darlington has been extended with the introduction of the V6-155 and V8-210. The V6 has a rated power output of 15513hp at 3.300 rpm (BS gross) with a maximum torque of 302 lb. ft. at 1,900 rpm while the V8 produces 210 bhp at 3,300 rpm (BS gross) with a maximum torque of 405 lb. ft. at 1,900 rpm. The engines will be applied initially in certain overseas markets, and are at present available in the UK only for vehicle manufacturer evaluation.
The new engine models are developed directly from the Cummins V6-140 and V8-185 engines, the improved performance being obtained by increased swept volume capacity. The piston displacement of the V6 is increased from 352 cu.in. (5.77 litres) to 378 cu.in. (6.2 litres) and the displacement of the V8 from 470 cu.in. (7.71 litres) to 504 cu.in. (8.27 litres). The up-rating has been achieved by a moderate increase in the piston stroke-0.25in.-and there is no change in cylinder bore size.
Piston design is changed by moving the gudgeon pin nearer to the crown and. compression ratio 17 to 1 results. The new gudgeon pin location and a new piston ring pack are said to improve piston stability and oil control. Other alterations include revised camshaft timing and overlap and while the new engines are dimensionally almost interchangeable with the earlier types, there is a significant difference in the package size caused by the fitting of a deeper and larger-capacity oil pan and modifications to the cooling system.
A significant feature of both the V6-155 and the V8-210 is that the cooling water flow pattern has been changed by the intro
duction of a front water cross-over in place of the rear water cross-over in the V6-140/ V8-185 design. The modification allows a greater flow rate and a much improved distribution of cooling water in the engine: this is accompanied by the introduction of a modulating thermostat which controls the flow of water more precisely than before.
i would love to see it run again ,

Found you a answer on that V-6 Ag Talk Forum - The 378 is a 504 V8 with 2 fewer cylinders. It is a 90 degree V6, so it fires uneven. The engine shakes bad at idle. The main problem is that parts are really expensive or unavailable. Cummins sold all their stock to a third party and buys them back to sell to you if you need them. They call this their obsolete parts warehouse.
The only Ag Chem product that I am aware of that used this engine is the articulated 1004 Ag Gator.

Holden Bros. are doing some revivals on some older internationals, having a lot of fun with it.... sadly they as good of mechanics they are, are really not the ones to revive a old international trucks as they just don't get the mystique these trucks hold. Since several million of these trucks were built and there is such a large following for them now, it might just be a common on the road truck again. I live in alaska and have never heard of this company... still they must of been here, most likely the southeast. I was never lucky enough to find the fancier ones like this, mostly just bigger rigs. I did own quite a few and dad had mostly the international K models with twin rears.. K12 size rigs for log trucks
