I have heard Matt comment many times in these videos about his having a heavy beard. I had not appreciated just how heavy his beard is until this video. In his last video, he was completely clean shaven. Now, just five days later, he is sporting a full, bushy moustache - astonishing! Seriously, though - I would like to wish Matt, the staff at Razor Emporium, their families, and all the viewers of his wonderful, informative videos a very Merry Christmas!
My R41 is the one I'd keep if I could have only one. Compared to my Ikon Tec (which requires undivided attention), it doesn't seem overly aggressive. I also have their German Slant and the Super Slant, both very nice (although I only need one). I also have a Muhle synthetic brush which is close enough to a badger to use with Martin de Condre soap!
Had a R41 but didn't get along with it, having to baby it to shave just wasn't my desire. Gifted it away. Lots of folks like them though so good luck to those that do. Thanks Matt.
Your pronunciation of "Mühle" is great. Especially if you consider that there are no Ü sounds in the English language (the closest thing that comes to mind is the end of "phew")... I love my Mühle razors, the R89 was one of the first I bought after I switched back to DE razors a few years ago and I still use it regularly. I'm now very impressed with the R41, with enough time and respect it gives me one of the closest shaves possible. Greetings from Germany ;)
My two years of German in high school served me well so I already knew how to pronounce Muhle. I have two Muhle DE razors in my stable. I have the Muhle Companion (lanyard removed) and a Muhle Hexagon in the discontinued Bronze color. The Hexagon uses the R89 head, of which I also have a spare because I got an excellent deal on them. The Companion is more aggressive that I would expect from a razor that is intended for unisex use below the neck that is "Easy to use and ideal for beginners", but not excessively so. The cap design covers the razor blade end tabs but is shaped well so it doesn't feel as wide and bulky as some other designs that cover the end tabs, so it feels quite agile. The base plate is narrower, which accounts for the extra aggressiveness, and can result in the razor taking a bite of flesh is care isn't taken when setting the razor on the face or if you're a blade buffer. Other than that, the head is very well designed and clamps the blade in a way that pretty well eliminates blade flex and chatter. The handle is rather long, which I don't mind, and the "fingerprint" design affords a secure grip even when hands are wet and/or lathery. The Hexagon uses the same head as the R89. It is only slightly more aggressive than my Merkur 20C but not enough to say that it's a good option if you find the Merkur to be too mild. If the Merkur is 4/10 on the aggression scale, the Muhle is 4.2/10. The big difference is the way the base plates are shaped. The corners on the Merkur are more radiused, the corners on the Muhle are more "sharp and pointy". I only feel those corners when I have the angle wrong, so I think of those sharp corners as a feature rather than a bug. The hexagon cross section of the handle is much like a pencil and allows for many options as far as grip goes. It looks very smooth but the matte texture is not slippery at all.
I used a double edge razor for the first time on Sunday. I was gifted a parker 96r, some feather blades, and some stirling soap. Lathering up was easy. But weepers everywhere and irritation on my neck. Lol I know Parker and feather are aggressive and I was taking off a light beard. I think I’ve got the right technique now though. Lol
I have the R89 Rose Gold, beautiful razor, and upgraded the head to R41 You have to respect the R41 or it will bite. Pity there isn't a budget friendly option in between. Considering changing the head for an Edwin Jagger 89 as I heard they are interchangeable.
My first and only safety razor so far is the R89. Love everything about it, but I'm getting curious about the next step up in aggressiveness. Maybe the R41 is a bit big of a jump for a relatively inexperienced head shaver? Tempting though.
Short but nice video. I have had a Muhle R41, a great rasor, that I don' t find, personally, too aggressive, just very nice, smooth !.. and looks great too... ;-)
The Rocca is probably the loudest razor on the market. It could really be a percussion instrument. I remember one of the I'd Lather be Shaving videos where you were blindfolded and trying to figure which vintage Gillette you were holding. You could pick out the Rocca purely by sound.
Hi matt, I also worked with a German guy I mentioned on my channel years ago he told me it's pronounced how you said, then he spelled it out. "MOOLA" 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
I have a super heavy beard. Always looking for another razor that "supposedly" will handle it without multiple passes, even with a Feather. A slant edge is child's play for me. So, is the Muhle R41 really a heavy beard slayer?
Hi Matt. Have the r41 really great razor use the astra platinums with really good results just remember very little pressure and absolutely no sideway movements or you too could be an instant blood donor LOL! Merry Christmas to you your family and all of your staff have another Fatboy on its way to you. Ed
I have a Mühle R41 and there shaving mug which i absolutely love. Even bought one for my nephew, now I have to tell him I was pronouncing Mühle incorrectly.
R89 and R41 owner here. Love them both!

Lol 🤣 thank you! Merry Christmas
I have the Mühle open comb and find that yes there is tons of blade feel but with good technique, a fantastic shave.
I have a few muhle products. Their brushes are super high quality and the rocca razor is really nice. It's one of my cleanest shavers.
I love the Rocca. Very solid instrument with a medium aggressive shave.
Matt is that you shredding guitar in the intro?
No
I have the Rocca and R41(my favourite) both great and beautiful razors. Another good video. Greetings from Spain!
Thank you very much!
@@RazorEmporium I have a super thick whiskers. Does the R41 really take them down?

You've got good taste!
Did not realize they had so many variations. Never tried any. Maybe something to try in the future.
Love Mühle and Merkur. My main razors are made by them. And you HAVE TO do a shave with their wonderful soaps. Affordable and small heavenly.
Nice spotlight Matt!
Had a R41 but didn't get along with it, having to baby it to shave just wasn't my desire. Gifted it away. Lots of folks like them though so good luck to those that do. Thanks Matt.
I have 3. R89 and R41 in the twist model and Rocca with wood handle. All beautiful razors. I use all depending on how long between shaving. Love them!

Appreciate the detailed review, thanks for sharing!
@@RazorEmporium You're welcome.
I don’t have a muhle yet but I’m really thinking about getting the R41
Mulhe is good stuff, would love to have a review on the Muhle Rocca, and find out how aggressive or mild the Razor really is.
Noted! Thanks for the suggestion.

I have a Muhle r89 twist. It’s my favorite razor.

Yup
I have the R108 and R95. Both are nice razors although like so many I own I don't use them anymore.

Ummm...ya
It's pronounced [ˈmyːlə] Great video

Thanks, Ed! Merry Christmas!
The R41 is one of my favorite razors, but I'd say the iKon Tek is more aggressive.
No Muhle products in the den atm. Have had a Rocca on the radar for some time, but yet to rake the plunge and get one.
Wait the minute, mister. This is imposter. Matt doesn't have any moustaches😂😂😂
By my beard, something went wrong 😂😂😂
Film schedule ≠ release schedule
@@RazorEmporium just joking 🤗👍
