For me, Witold Pilecki is one of the greatest, if not the greatest hero that ever existed. I'm not even Polish, but his courage really inspires me. Looking at his life, it was hell. He lived for Poland, fought for Poland, died for Poland. I hope he is in heaven now where he has the peace he deserves.

For those who claim that Pilecki was Russian. Pilecki was born in Russia but he was Polish patriot. His grandparents were deportated to Siberia and North Russia by tsarist secret police because of their struggle in Polish uprising against Russia in 1863.
Witold Pilecki was fighting agianst bolsheviks during Polish Soviet war in 1919 - 1921. Then he was fighting against our both enemies (Germany and USSR) from 1939 till 1947

My great grandparents are from Poland. I'm proud of my Polish heritage, and whenever I hear about the bravery of Capt. Witold Pilecki, Cpl. Wojtek the literal soldier bear, the RAFs Polish 303rd squadron, and every brave person who was involved in the uprisings in Poland (all of that in a span of 6 years), it only reinforces it and reminds me of why my heritage should never be forgotten no matter what happens in my life. In closing: Polska nie zginęła, i dobranoc.

Few events have played and he and chetniks completely lost support from allies who were now supplying and supporting Tito and partisans to infinity. And as everybody knows, partisans won and all chetniks were punished. Draza was no exception. Commies irrationaly judged him and executed him. Threw him away like last nobody, even today, his final resting place is unknown.

If you are in Berlin, pay respect to major gangle and the men of the 9th and 12th infantry.
Gangle and his men helped the US in keeping French prisoners save while the 9th and 12th made an escape route from Berlin to a save spot while the soviet army was killing, raping and destroying anything they saw.
Pay respect tho these men that truly fought for their fatherland, they may have served under an insane leader but they did want they needed to when it came to it
Sadly thats not possible. The soviets dumped his body in some random dig under Warsaw and it still hasnt been found.
I have to thank Sabaton for telling the story of Witold Pilecki. As I type this, I am reading his reports on the conditions in Auschwitz. It's somewhat terrifying to think of the fact that his are probably the most accurate reports of Auschwitz that we have.
Also, just as the song's name is. He says that his number was 4859.

WWII and history in general are of great interest to me and I never had heard of this tremendously brave man. I absolutely love Sabaton for helping to share the history of those who fought heroically for their nations. This was an incredible man.
Actually, I think words fail to describe Pilecki. I mean, we know that the KZs were like hell on earth. And he went there voluntarily and stayed there voluntarily. To help his people and his country.
And do not forget about uprising and his roled in it. True man like he is.

Norway, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Poland, Japan, US, France, Italy, they all have so many stories of bravery, valor, honor, and impossible circumstances. Pilotów, którzy walczyli o Anglię, żołnierzy, którzy polegli na wzgórzu Monte Cassino, marynarzy, którzy chronili konwoje na Atlantyku. A co zrobili Anglicy w zamian za męstwo polskiego żołnierza? Powiedzieli ładnie Polsce "spierdalaj!" i pchnęli ją w łapy Stalina! Polskich żołnierzy nie zaproszono nawet na Defiladę Zwycięstwa w Londynie z 1946 roku, bo "Churchill nie chciał drażnić Stalina". Polscy dowódcy służący w armii na Zachodzie byli kozłami ofiarnymi (Sosabowskiego obwinili za niepowodzenie operacji "Market-Garden), a po wojnie usuwano ich ze stanowisk i odbierano im rentę. Musieli pracować jako robotnicy w fabrykach czy serwować gin z tonikiem w pubach jak Maczek.
Taka była ich jebana wdzięczność!

Za każdym razem jak słucham tego kawałka staram sobie wyobrazić jaką odwagą wykazał sie ten bohater...niesamowita postać.
Thanks to this song, I just finished reading a translation of his 1945 report on his time at Auschwitz and his escape. This was hastily written prior to him returning to the underground in Poland to undermine the Communists. He had one hell of an underground network set up in Auschwitz that was ready to take action had outside help attacked. In 1943, the SS started moving the Poles to other camps which decimated his network... had the Poles remained, he would have stayed in the prison... but he didn't want to start the network over from pretty much scratch and figured he could more on the outside. As luck would have it, it was a good time he got out as the network was betrayed by a former inmate/underground member who was again captured by the Germans. The Polish Underground liquidated the traitor.
Although we don't consider him a traitor, he was tried because he was caught undermining the Communists after the war (you have to read about him a little further because you can only get so much into a song), so he was tried by the Soviet backed Communist government.
He went back into the underground after the war to undermine the Communists and the Soviets. He hated the Communists as much as he hated Nazis. He was caught during this, and this is why he was put on trial.
To fight the Communists... as I said, he hated them as much as he hated Nazis.
+-T-X-M- You see, Poland was basically occupied by a marionette government set up by the soviets between 1945-1989. The majority of the nation hated the communist rule and most of the anti nazi underground soldiers also fought soviets and communist forces after t he war.
Well, Poland was never a part of USSR (wasnt one of the socialist republics that were parts of USSR, say lithuanian SSR, ukrainian SSR, and so on) but was under total influence of moscow for all these years anyway. So basically yes, they have came to control Poland. Hungary, east germany among many other eastern and central european nations shared the same fate.

My God, would be one of the greatest movies ever
Ever since i gained interest in film making I wanted to make a film about Witold Pilecki but cant yet because I lack the skill and resources needed, and I would want to make it the most faithfull representation of Pilecki's life, I'm only studying it now and a project like this cant be rushed. I heard about Pilecki from my dad who was organising an event to reminice about Witold Pilecki and to sign a petition to make may 25th a national remembrance day,(Bieg Przypomnijmy o Rotmisztrzu Witoldzie Pileckim) in Galway after that event he and his friend sent Sabaton and E-mail with the story of Witold Pilecki. You can see them in an interview talking about it, I only wonder if it was my dads email or someones else's who knew the story, regardless im glad Sabaton saw it and made a song, Heroes such as Witold Pilecki should get recignition for their brave actions to secure our safety
