I’m not one to shed tears for an animated character but for some reason this episode hits harder than any other episode of a tv show. It just hurts seeing that no matter how much talent you have or how much hard work you put in, some things like healing simply take time and time is something you cannot control. When Korra watches/reads about the world moving forward without her, I can’t help but feel horrible alongside her. Such a good episode.
This episode is so powerful and it's why I love Korra as a show and a character. It's brave to display the hero of your show in such a weakened and vulnerable state but it adds so much depth to her journey. I've never suffered a serious injury and had to rehab but I can only imagine how someone could identify with her during this.
I like that the show never forgot where it came from but also didn't rely on it. Each season only ever introduced one character from ATLA as fhet are now. Katara in the south in season 1, Iroh in the spirit world season 2, Zuko on the hunt in season 3, and now Toph in the swamp (where techinically Aang and us were first introduced to her in the first place) in season 4
Korra’s journey in this season is so amazingly done, and adding Toph to the mix, and Katara again, as the ones who help Korra, is chefs kiss. Can’t wait to watch your reactions!
Toph showing up at the end as the show's way of saying "this is who can fix her" is like a warm blanket after watching Korra suffer the entire episode.
I feel so bad for Korra 😢. First she almost her bending, then the connection to the other Avatars, then she almost died and now suffers PTSD from that! Not to drag it too far, but I think she suffered more than Aang did!
That's tricky to compare. Aang did suffer a lot, the show just decided to not focus on it. Like Katara says in this episode. From Aang's perspective he left for a couple of days and when he came back everyone he knew was gone. Even worse, they were k!lled because the FN was looking for him. As for injuries Azula did shoot him and blocked the Avatar State; if ATLA had different tone they would've mentioned how desperate Aang was to regain access to the Avatar State, instead they used that as a joke.
1:51 That's actually the Aurora Australis since they're in the southern water tribe. Fun Fact, Borealis means Northern and Australis mean Southern in Latin. That means Australia translates to the Southlands. I always knew Mordor was in Australia
Some believe that wisdom and spiritual growth come from hardship. Aang already mastered the spiritual stuff so his task was the physical side of bending. Korra's task is to grasp the spiritual side and realize that true power isn't necessarrily having the biggest muscles.
Yup her spiritual powers led her to Toph who is exactly the person Korra needs now. 3 year of coddling and being babied really aren't helping Korra anymore so who better than the most blunt and stubborn person we can think of to give her the kick in the pants she needs

As was said during The Last Airbender. "Some friendships are so strong they can even transcend lifetimes."
It's so good to see Toph again.

This season is super underrated and Korra alone might be one of the best in the whole series.

I have been so excited for you to get to this episode! Korra's emotional struggles combined with the surprise reveal at the end.

Korra didn't have an onion and banana juice session with Guru Pathik
I love how soft we all get when Toph called Korra "Twinkletoes".
It wouldn't be far off to say the moment you started this series people have been waiting for you to see this episode
Toph has return

It always makes me sad how much Korra has suffered
Enjoyed your reaction to this excellent episode of Korra.
Old woman Toph is amazing!
13:01 Toph 😢

short hair Korra is the best
Do you really think friendships can last more than one Lifetime. --Toph
