The best opening was when it was called The Texas News back when it was WBAP TV. Theme was called The Texas News March (borrowed from one called The Broad Street March) from about 1948-1972ish
I hope y’all will reply to this I not being rude but why did they say KXAS was the first television station in Texas l?????!!???….. I thought WOAi in San Antonio was the first television station in Texas
whammy3323 WOOD-TV was owned by the same company at that time - LIN Broadcasting. KXAS was the biggest station owned by LIN. The music package was shared across the group, as I recall. I worked at KXAS from 1983 to 2005.
• COMELEC declares Cusi-wing as legitimate PDP-Laban ruling party • PH Consulate in Houston enters 4th day of ballot feeding, their first presidential election to date • OFWs gather for overseas voting in Thailand • Cambodia's prime minister urges Myanmar junta for access to Suu Kyi • Putin apologizes for anti-semitic comments of his foreign minister • WHO: Pandemic death toll at end of 2021 may have hit 15-M people
I noticed that there are captions now, but some of the voiceover info is missing, so I'll be filling in the blanks: - Chuck Murphy did V/Os from 1984 until some time during the "Building a Better Texas" era (most opens from 1:26-6:22 as well as the IDs that bookend the video). - Paul Anthony (who also did V/Os for stations such as WISH-TV and WTMJ around the same time) was used during the first few years of "Primetime News" (7:33-9:09) - Al Vanik does the opens from 9:34-10:04. - Bill Ratner does the one at 11:39. - John Pleisse is the current voice (11:48 on). The V/O on the open at 6:43 sounds like Charlie Van Dyke, but I don't think it's him (the "t"s don't sound right).
I remember lots of these openings as a child.
I love KXAS
The Primetime News era of KXAS has to be my favorite era of opens..
sboudreaux27 I'm assuming LIN had a big part in keeping the star 5 logo (and Primetime News on the Novocom graphics)
airing in the newsroom in 2007

KXAS-TV Channel 5 in Dallas wasn't an NBC O&O station until the mid-'90s!
01:25, my fav KXAS-TV intro. This is before WAVY-TV used the same news theme, in 1989.
Now WAVY doesn’t even show the NBC peacock too often!! NBC dislikes this!!
My favorite chief meteorologists is David Finfrock and Harold Taft was wearing glasses.
NBC 5: The Texas News Channel.
08:15, another one of my fav KXAS-TV intro. KNSD tried it, too, using the logo bug in their news intro.
Channel 5, KXAS-TV.
From about :45--two intros with the same name and theme as WPVI in Philadelphia.
I love the era at 9:08 - the Calvin Hughes/Sabrina Smith opens. Awesome, toned-down version of Primetime News.
the best nbc 5 era. I lived in the area at this time period.
@@gunnlover Wasn't it Fall 1997 when KXAS-TV started using these graphics?, Jon Berry Design did them (pre-Novocom).
Serving the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
anyone noticed how Harold Taft looked like Papa Bush?????!!!!!
11:20 A+

WOW! Reggie Harris! Amazing he was!!
memories
My favorite food in Dallas was spare ribs covered with barbecue sauce.
0:40, besides WPVI-TV, i wonder how much stations used the "Action News" theme.
[4] WNEP still uses a version of it, but it’s a modified version of it.
WPIX 11 Alive New York used it from 1977-84 and WKBW ABC-7 Buffalo has used it since 1973
Dude, I'm surprised that Rebecca Miller is doing commercials on window sills!

Voiceover Kris Erik Stevens Does KXAS-TV from 2001-2003
The nighttime news music from the late '80s seriously sounds like it came from a porno.
0:07-0:42 is definitely WBAP-TV. Channel 5 in Fort Worth/Dallas didn't become KXAS-TV until 1974.
No and no wbap becomes kxas in 1972.
