Hi Glenda, I am a BERNINA Ambassador but you'll probably see the Triumph pop up from time to time. Thanks for watching and I'll be happy to answer questions for Triumph owners.
You mention at times leaving the knife down when seaming with overlock. I was told a long time ago that one should ALWAYS trim some off if overlocking. Is this because it creates a clean edge if trimming even just "hairs" of fabric? thank you. I always go with what you say because you are such a great teacher. Thank you.
Hi Maxine, thanks for the nice compliment. It’s rare that I lock the knife in overlock mode too because I like to skim off the whiskers for a clean edge. But technically, yes you can lock the knife. It isn’t recommended especially for newbies, because if the fabric edge wanders too far right, it can get tangled in the loopers. And that’s an expensive repair! When more experienced sewists keep the fabric edge out of harm’s way, it’s ok to lock the knife. But again, I typically don’t like to do that. Great question and thanks for watching!
Hi Pam, The wrong side of the appliques are alway hidden between layers so the shapes wouldn't show or fray. The example I showed in the Serger Savvy (with the rivets) was originally going into a project but I didn't end up using it. so it was a good sample. Also, in answer to why not use pinking shears... LAZY!🤣 Thanks for watching, Pam!
Hi Susanne, every serger that is a combo (overlock and cover/chainstitch) or dedicated cover/chainstitch has these stitches. And I believe that every brand, BERNINA, Babylock, Juki, Janome, etc. has a Coverstitch capable model. I was showing it in decorative mode with decorative thread, but if you look at the hem on almost any knit garment, it is hemmed with a utility narrow or wide coverstitch. Let me know if you have more questions about this amazing stitch or anything else. Thanks for watching!
@@susannesmith687 yes, here’s a link to a video: th-cam.com/video/Rqn-QgOnKMo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KYPYAw9eZQbxOHoC. The White Speedylock is a 4-thread serger so it doesn’t have a chain looper for coverstitching. Thanks and let me know if you have more questions.
Great way to use your decorative stitch samples!
It really is and a huge time-saver for projects. Thanks for watching!
I hope you’ll continue also demoing on the Triumph🥰

Hi Gail, just curious why you didn’t use your pinking shears on your facing fabric instead of leaving it irregularly shaped?
