Love the video! I learned a lot about side dressing sweet corn! I love the editing! You guys are my favorite TH-cam channel! I love you! Keep up the amazing work!
Very informative video! Thank you! I normally try to keep strictly organic, but things like blood meal are so darn pricey! This is the first year I've used urea. So we shall see!
Im gonna make my final attempt at growing corn next year...worms dogs wind rust and probably the wrong variety will probably kill it but i have researched everything i can find on corn... I hear u do nitrogen at least three times..ankle knee and rear high stages...some people on u tube say use 20-20-20..
Don't give up! I had a mostly failed crop this past season, mostly my fault. We all have failures, all we can do is learn from our mistakes and try again. You are correct about the nitrogen, generally that's a good fertilization schedule. However if your corn leaves are a darker green that means the plant is good on nitrogen. I'm not sure what varieties you've tried growing, but I've had the best luck with Incredible and Peaches n Cream varieties.
I just got back from top dressing 725 feet of silver queen with 15 pounds of 17 17 17 fertilizer. The corn is 8 inches tall, and was spread by hand and all around the stalks. Maybe it won't burn it up. We will see.
I made the mistake of getting it too close to the plants one time and on top of the ground. After it rained I think it splashed on the corn and it all died.
I cover it because I don't want it to splash up on the plants after it rains or during watering. Nitrogen will burn the plants, killing them if it touches them.
We usually get enough rain and I don't have to water, but if it hasn't got any rain I use the water hose and water between the rows. My plan next year is the use drip tape fed by a water catchment system. Thanks for stopping by!
If you want to keep your corn rows nice and weed free you really should get you a double wheel hoe from Hoss Tools. Here's a link to a video I did a review on it. th-cam.com/video/khK_mvuSr2Y/w-d-xo.html

I never planted corn before. I need to know about spacing. Spacing between rows and between seeds. Thanks jim
James on spacing, 6 to 8 inches between plants and 3 feet between rows. Good luck with your crop!
Nice garden
Thanks!

Thanks for checking us out!

Thank you for watching!
You're absolutely right, organic fertilizers are very pricey. Urea does a fantastic job on sweet corn.
Urea 46 lb is basically organic. Not usda or omri approved but totally safe.
Have you ever heard of the Hatfield v. McCoy conflict? Just thought about it because of your username. Anyway, love the video!
Oh yeah I know all about it. Thanks for stopping by!
Thank you🎉
You're welcome!

Can I or should I plant the rows closer.?
3 feet between rows works well.
Where can I buy the nitrogen fertilizer you use
I buy mine at the local feed and seed hardware store. Tractor Supply, Southern States and Rural King has it too.

Maybe I missed it, but what strength nitrogen did you use? I have 33-0-0 hope it's not too strong. Thanks.
I used 46-0-0
How frequently do we need to do side dressing
I like to first side dress when the corn is 12 inches, then again at 18 inches and maybe once more when the corn tassels.
i wonder if I could grow sweet corn in a raised bed? thoughts?
Yeah you absolutely could!
@@Hatfield_Country gonna try that next year!
New subscriber Sir full watch your video because i want to know how to apply fertilizer...
