  • marrying a japanese issues and struggles as a filipina i wish i knew when i was younger or before the marriage. This is the reason why I am strongly hoping to share our life stories because I wish to reach out to these younger Filipina brides who are planning to marry a Japanese national. Filipino-Japanese marriages have become increasingly common over the years, but they also come with their unique challenges. Let’s delve into some of the issues faced by couples in these cross-cultural unions. Cultural clashes can arise due to varying norms, traditions, and expectations.Communication styles, family dynamics, and social etiquette may differ significantly. Gaining acceptance from both families can be challenging. Cultural expectations and traditions may influence family opinions. Economic differences between Japan and the Philippines can create tension. Balancing financial expectations and responsibilities is essential.

I am a Filipina in my early 30s and I have been married to a Japanese man also in his 30s for 6yrs and counting. I sort of shared these issues at first but what we did to each of our families is impose strict boundaries and let us live our lives. No monetary help, no "libre" to relatives especially to my family. It cost me some relationships with relatives but it is for the best in the long run. My in laws were concerned at first but it was eventually disproven as I live already well in the PH, as I inherited a house and lot from my parents and already have my own vehicles. We tried living in Japan but we chose to move back to the PH after we deliberately calculated how far our salaries will go with our money. I am fortunate enough to have a well paying job as an IT professional and he, an interpreter in the PH. For now we settle here but nothing is absolute because we might want to live in another country again in the future. What's important is both of us have shared values and life plans. He is my best friend and I'm forever grateful at that.

Hello, Engineer. I thank you for watching this video taken by a 59 years old Filipina, myself. Thank you for sharing your perspectives in life with your husband. About me and my husband, we are nearing the end of this so called journey of life so it is my ultimate desire to voice out my thoughts about these taboo topics. Glad you came and shared your thoughts. Thank you!!

@@livingwithgraceinjapan Ma'am 59 is still young and I'm sure there's still more to look forward to at retirement years. Staying with your husband for years is really something my generation should strive more.
