    "If Bewitched was DC and Marvel comics, 'why did Darren transform' would be a whole miniseries'" And yet, The MCU's explanation for Rhodey having a different actor was "Hey, it's me, I'm here, let's just do this."

    Wouldn't it make more sense to say that the old Flash stories actually happened and a comic artist just turned them into comics?

    • @XanderVJ
      @XanderVJ 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      +QueenCloveroftheice Actually.. yeah!
      Looks like nobody thought about that 50 years ago. Someone dropped the ball on that one.

      Because comics are convoluted and simple solutions make sense and aren't confusing.

      Lol no, what I'm saying is your suggestion makes perfect sense. It's simple & does the job.
      Comic book creators don't like to be simple and effective they like to be as convoluted and nonsensical as possible. They use clones, alternate dimensions, & time travel for everything little thing.

    Marvel has One More Day and Dark Reign
    DC had the Crisis Series and New 52.
    No comic book industry is doing well.
    At least DC still has great animation and Marvel has amazing movies.

    • @KazeAizen
      @KazeAizen 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds like though the New 52 stunt that DC pulled more or less helped save the industry.

    • @Luckinji
      @Luckinji 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      KazeAizen If by industry you mean the independent(sort of) industry where a lot of disappointed DC fans went for a while with quite few sticking there...

    • @KazeAizen
      @KazeAizen 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      FrostBandanaDude No I mean the superhero comics industry as a whole. Also the disappointed DC fans really need to get over it.

    • @Luckinji
      @Luckinji 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thing is they aren't and don't need to. So far DC's been doing a lot of back paddlin' towards the previous universe, for example, most recently it turned out that Batman did indeed die and Dick Grayson took the mantle for a while. Yes, within the 5 years superheroes were active in this not-so-new universe.

    • @KazeAizen
      @KazeAizen 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      FrostBandanaDude Yeah kind of disappointed in that. Still wish they would've gone whole hog instead of half way when they rebooted. Either way The New 52 is one of those cases where it got WAY more hate than it ever deserved. Besides having Superman/Wonder Woman be a thing in the main universe. I'm on board.

  • @syafiqjabar
    @syafiqjabar 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    You're sort of right there. It's not that they do not plan ahead (Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis prove that they can), it's that these characters are valuable to DC and the fans are insanely devoted to them so they will never go away no matter what.

  • @jamesmallone
    @jamesmallone 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Ah, yes, that magical time just after Crisis, where Wonder Woman first teamed up with the other heroes in the same storyline that launched the Suicide Squad, and Superman of all people was a "lone wolf" who had yet to join the Justice League. Can you imagine?
    Also, Bob, you seriously couldn't have found a better picture of Huntress? Like say, the Jim Lee or Ed Benes versions?

    I actually enjoy Superman/Batman stories. It's great to see the dynamic of these two diametrically opposed heroes work together, and having their different methods, ideologies, and strengths and skills play off each other. That isn't to say that all Superman/Batman stories are good, but it's a little harsh to write them off as lazy senseless cash-ins.

  • @syafiqjabar
    @syafiqjabar 12 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Marvel actually creates a new universe every time time travel happens in their main continuities. So the future you see in that story is really in another reality. Marvel also treats the movie and cartoon adaptations of their comics as separate worlds, so that they technically exist together with their comic counterparts but in another dimension.

  • @D64nz
    @D64nz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is why shows end. The classic example is Breaking Bad... there is no way you'd want to even try to keep that ball in the air, and almost, it was up slightly longer than it should have been. Pinkman gets beat up too often... you can't unflip Skyler from being hated to loved to hated. Well ok, you probably could, but I don't think it would be good. Actually she could have easily stepped into Walters shoes and used all his contacts etc. Anyway, still mostly happy they didn't go down that road.

    Here's an idea. Mirror universe Joker is a crime fighting psychologist (working in a run down hospital because criminal profilers are old hat now) using his intellect and chemistry (fuck it he's also a chemist, why not) skills and knack for gadgets to fight a sadistic club of wealthy crooks. His arch enemy? Just think Chris Bale in American Psycho. It could work.

    It wasn't Green Arrow who lost his arm, it's his sidekick Red Arrow, or Arsenal. Arsenal lost his arm in a fight with the villain prometheus, he was winning but Prometheus manages to get lucky and get a cheap shot in on Arsenal which cuts off his arm.
    This is actually incredibly stupid considering the fact that panels ago Prometheus had literally took on Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman in a fight and WON. However Arsenal somehow managed to almost beat him barehanded.

    Continuity in comics is the worst thing. Seriously. Instead of telling a good story the writers are forced into retcons and ridiculous explanations for why things are the way they are with characters that have died, been reborn, had kids, and have dozens of origins stories because they've done everything. IT JUST IS. So enjoy the story

    I've enjoyed what I've read of the New 52. DC comics continuity really isn't that hard to follow. In all honesty, I find Marvel much more confusing.

    • @Kaefer1973
      @Kaefer1973 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not Sure about Marvel or DC, but Spirou continuity is a mess as well (no surprise for a 80 years old setting that never was rebooted), but nobody cares since the main series and all the secondary series and spin-off series taking place in the same universe are all great and a bit of continuity mess doesn't matter for the enjoyment of the actual stories.
      So my guess is that you just enjoy Marvel comics less than DC comics and thus tend to notice the details you wouldn't care about if you were entertained.

    batman did f*cking die!!!! he came back to life in the "blackest night" event, then he got zapped into the past, if you have read both stories, you'll see in the "return of Bruce Wayne" storyline, that even though Bruce wayne is alive and in his physical form, his ashes were still in the rocket thing that "zapped" him into the different eras

There was also the Grant Morrison "JLA: Earth Two" graphic novel which was a more recent take on the idea. IE The Post Crisis on Infinite Earths timeline.

    The New 52 is a joke. It should've been a straight restart. No miniseries, no Crisis, just start fresh. We still have those old comics to read but I don't know anyone who's not read DC in a long time who wants to now. They just don't want to follow what's continuity and what's not, what takes place five years ago an what's happening now, etc. It's too unwieldy. I think current readers would accept it and it may get some new ones interested. I don't even read DC anymore. That's saying something.

    DC these days is so convoluted with their history, plus going with the worst storylines and ideas ever (anyone really calling for the one armed, emo Roy Harper or evil Mary Marvel... besides DeviantArt), its pretty much killing itself by making bad choices (IE sticking with their fanbase and ignoring newcomers) the whole company, imo, is a fucking joke. If DC goes tits up in the near future, it'll only have itself to blame for going for the quick fix rather than finding a long-term solution.
