And we pretend the suicide attempt isn't there :( Trolls are horrible! Don't you realize that pretending to be blind and deaf can actually trigger someone to attempt suicide by forcing them to keep quiet? Stop it! You are the moral fall of human nature!
@@KatieGeorgieva Yoongi was not taking pills in the video they are mint candy’s he said this himself yesterday on live ever after the accident he took pills for the pain. He also went through depression and anxiety I cannot believe you would say such things have some respect and think about what this man has been through in his life and about what is dealing with his fathers Diagnoses you know how hard it was for Yoongi to write this song having to open up about it all and having to talk about his accident . This man has been through a lot of pain your so insensitive. You have gotten this mv all wrong .do you think it’s been easy for Yoongi to talk about this it’s not. His father is sick Yoongi is a strong man for putting this into lyrics as he had to relive them painful memories all over again. Mental health isn’t something everyone wants to talk about many keep quite for a reason as they are scared to open up and don’t want to be judged by others .
All this happened to him Yoongi in the past in 2012 had a car accident while working as a delivery (just like the video) and broke his shoulder and made a surgery in 2020 because he was afraid to tell the company when he was a trainee to not kick him out and then didn’t want to do the surgery because of his group to not disrupt the group’s work he was afraid + when he was born his mam did a heart surgery + his dad had a cancer + he faced depression for so long and even thought about kîlling himself and went to a psychologist .. it was hard for him because his family was so poor he had to go to school, work and train at the same time .. he didn’t eat to have money to take the bus It shows that he made the scar himself, it represents what he went through, yoongi said he meant to show the scar healing in haegeum unlike daechwita .. he said that mean he is okay now and he said agust d is one of his personalities who faced these things, you can see suga tried to kill agust d the personality with the scar in both daechwita and haegeum , he is trying to kill and forget his bad memories that made that person to continue his life . and he will stop to do songs under agust d again because the scar is healed now but that doesn’t mean the end he said if he found other things to talk about he will do , but now might release things under suga or yoongi He is so brave and we are proud of him that he didn’t give up
@@StylishChicVibes how did you know it’s recent when he never talked about it?also the media didn’t say anything, all armys knew about his father after the release + this is what yoongi said by himself in the interview not my words…
@@StylishChicVibesits not recently if you watch Bon voyage episodes ( i forgot which one) BTS suga went home because of family matters ( it happened when they're shooting Bon Voyage episodes overseas)...he's father is well now ,healthy....

The whole MV is seriously just Yoongi bearing his history and thoughts. It's personal and raw. All the scenes just gives imagery on the things that actually happened. It gets to me so hard, he's sharing this much and he's overcome his struggles. The whole album is amazing My thoughts also on the scar (we don't know all that he's gone through explicitly), but that he 'did that/hurt' himself in the MV in what we see later on as AgustD's mark in Daechwita and Haegeum to then him 'killing' that part is so much to take in
I think that scar is him becoming the Agust D persona to deal with that pain. - And then, in Haegeum, he can let go of Agust D. (He doesn't have the scar when he's eating the soup with the red chopsticks!) My personal take, lol. Yoongi is sooo deep. I love that everyone has different takes on it.
This is not just mere a story plot for an mv but all these painful events actually happened to yoongi in real life. my heart feels so heavy I can’t stop crying. I’m just glad yoongi is still with us today.
I cried my eyes out the first time I watched it the lyrics about his fathers illness really hit me hard as my dad is also going through the same thing so I can relate too it so much .
Basically before the BTS debut, Yoongi used to work as a delivery guy, and during that time he had a terrible accident where he injured his left shoulder and that really impacted him badly because he thought if he'd mention the accident to the label he wouldn't be able to debut with the other members. But BH actually paid for his surgery and his college fees and all... To think he worked with that injury for 8-9 years before getting a proper surgery is just so admirable... And yes, all of this is real. Amygdala basically stores all the memories and fears. This song is basically about his life. From his accident to his parents to all the choices he's made and all that he's done to get to this point.
@@BlackBumblebee41 I don't know if it was treated in any way after debuting, but he never told anyone that the injury was that serious until a few years ago. And he only did it because the pain was no longer bearable
Okay so, the comments have outlined the basics. This is really Yoongi's story. Yoongi's life was not easy, unlike the majority of the other members (other than V), he came from working poor family. His family owned a small blood sausage restaurant that went back generations in Daegu, which some have referred to in parts as 'the slums of Korea' - not my definition, just what has been said. It's part of South Korea that has larger portions of people who are elderly remaining and still struggling post the korean war. So he had to really fight to make it. He did underground rap for a long time, and his parents were in no way spportive of his music goals, so it was really up to him to make it work. So he hustled and went out on his own working multiple jobs, a lot of the time giving up eating so he could make bus fair to try and perform or sell mixtapes, which sometimes he had stolen and lost money on. It sucked. When he finally made it into the Big Hit trainee program, he was still working those jobs, one of which was as a delivery driver - it was raining out and some asshole ran into him and dragged him up under the wheel of the car and nearly crushed him but it tore up his shoulder. Yoongi knew that it meant he would be kicked out of the program because it would hinder his dance performance, so instead he took a few days down and told everyone he tripped down some stairs - nothing serious. Then spent years dancing around barely able to lift his arm and in excruciating pain until damn near 2016/2017. The first few years after debut were hard all over again, Big Hit Entertainment was virtually bankrupt, and the company was looking at walking back the debut. But he and BTS busted their asses over-performing and pushing to get their names out there and make it work, at times funding money into their own debut. But this crazy schedule also stole precious time from them and in that time Yoongi found out his mom had a heart condition which shortly after re-opening her restaurant in new ways, forced her to close it and retire. He was over-medicating with pain pills throughout and got to a point of nearly taking his own life at this time but Jin saved him. The grittier details of that have not been aired. Then a few short years later BTS nearly disbanded just as they were starting to gain a foothold, their money had run out and BTS was paying to keep themselves on tour, but when they finally broke through the western music gatekeeping tradition and won an award and were recognized for songs like DNA & Idol, they finally started to recoup. The story Yoongi is conveying in Agust D is that he - Mn Yoongi, Suga of BTS, and Agust D are three versions of himself. Agust D is the self-manifested version of himself filled with all the pain and anger he was struggling with and bares the scar from the wounds he gave himself in trying to make his dreams of being a musician real. The first real clarity of how he hurt himself in the process - being him pushing himself through the pain of the ca wreck to keep going. In a way this song take responsibility for the hurt he caused himself, offering himself forgiveness for who he became and the choices he made, and Min Yoongi choosing to save himself and let go of all those hurts and grow from those experiences.
I can't forget the first time his parents agreed to come to his concert and how much he cried because of it. It was the first time I had seen this man cry 😭☹☹☹☹
I'm surprised you 2 didn't know about Suga accident that happened in 2012. Everything in this video, is true. He is sharing and showing army his struggles in the pass. What he went through before BTS. Amygdala is a part of the brain. That controls emotion and fear. 😭😭😭🥵
I’m also surprised by a few reactors that even called themselves “ARMY” or follow them for a long time and are completely oblivious of Yoongi story and other members stories.
@@zuzannabrzeszczak1578 these guys are fans what are you talking about so because they don’t know every detail about BTS they aren’t real fans not even baby army’s know everything. On of their freinds was on the show with BTS in 2014 called American hustle life.
In his trainee days, Yoongi got a job as a food delivery driver to make extra money. He got into an accident that crushed his shoulder. He didn’t tell anyone in fear that he would be kicked out of the company. He finally got surgery to fix his shoulder during Dynamite era.
I love how y’all were unlocking things and figuring stuff out. And yes whatever was mentioned actually happened to him. The surgery he had was on his shoulder from that bike and car wreck
He said "I don't know YOUR name" not his own name. Meaning he doesn't know the person listening but they might have felt the same way he did through the video.
When I watched another reaction for this video someone said "Is he eating almonds?" and at that moment it clicked. The amygdala is almond shaped. Maybe him eating them is a metaphor for trying to get rid of all of the negative emotions and trauma housed there. Also the door opening after cutting his face could also be a metaphor. A lot of times people cut because the pain is like a release of negative emotions. He cut his face, those feelings are out, and now he's ready to walk out that door and let go of it all. His genius knows no bounds.
Along with what everyone else is saying in the comments, Yoongi has talked a lot about his past in different things. A significant one is a song off his first mixtape called ‘The Last’. All this stuff indeed happened to him and Agust D basically represents the angry and traumatized version of Yoongi. The album trilogy is about his story and person growth. As well as coming to terms with his past and healing.
I just want to say that your discussions regarding the mv, and your insights are really deep and interesting!! Despite not knowing his backstory at all, you still managed to understand the symbolisms this mv hold. Loved your discussions here so muchh !
Amygdala is a part of the brain that processes like traumatizing things that happened yk like it gives you the ability to run/recognize a danger those kind of things. Now here yoongi is talking about his own story about everything that happened in his life that traumatized him and cannot escape them. So he is asking his amygdala to save him from that nightmare he’s been constantly living/reminded of . This song has a really strong emotional message and yoongi is such a genius conveying it like this to us .
I really think he would appreciate that people are taking the time to not just listen to his music and watch his MVs but actually paying attention and understanding his story and what he is expressing through his lyrics and MV. I’m so proud of him, to be so vulnerable so publicly takes a lot of courage ❤ and I’m forever grateful that he made it through the hard times ❤
Yoongi has talked about his accident a few times and it’s in a lot of videos. He was delivering food on a bike and a car hit him and he opened his eyes and a wheel was in his face. He hurt his shoulder and he couldn’t talk about it because he was worried he would get kicked out of the group. It all happened before they debuted. And that surgery he had just a couple of years ago, was to finally fix his shoulder.
This song and video is Yoongi's real life story about his trauma. Amygdala is the part of the brain that stores memories and trauma so he's asking his amygdala to save him from the pain and suffering. The accident that injured his shoulder in his trainee days to the OCD, depression, news of his father's liver cancer, mother's heart surgery. All of it building up and how he's trying to escape his mind. His past self is trying to save him but fails and he's stuck in that room reliving his pain. He's really raw and straight forward about his trauma in this song, I was sobbing hearing it and watching the video for the first time.
The accident was shown in the video when he hit the car. Also the scar in the video which is also in Daechwita and Haegeum was self inflicted because of his inner turmoil. A physical symbol for the emotional scars from his trauma
Yes , you guys are absolutely right when he was a traine in a big hot. He used to to the part time job as a delivery boy. And one day on his way of delivering food in rain he met with an accident and that's way through he is enduring all his shoulder pain till 2019 by taking injections and then in 2020 when it's the end time emdration he gone through his shoulder surgery during the BE era .
I came to your video because the amygdala video was restricted for me but im glad I came because you helped me understand the meaning behind the video ❤❤❤❤
Btw it’s Bighit that’s given BTS their freedom when it comes to producing/making music. Think of HYBE as an umbrella for all these other companies (bighit, plexus, etc) HYBE doesn’t say what BTS does in their music
I'm surprised that you didn't know about "the accident" since he mentioned in interviews, clips, Rise of Bangtan, etc., thus finally had his needed Shoulder Surgery in 2020 after years of suffering. Remember now? These events are seriously real, not a laughing matter. So, are you guys going to his D Day Concert? Pronunciation: Ah-Mig-Da-La
In amygdala mv is yoongi's real life story its not a storyline its actually real, talk about his car accident, suicide attempt, depression In 2012 when suga was a trainee before when bts debuted in 2013, suga work as a deliver boy and accidently hit by a car. It cause him shoulder injury, he did'nt said to bighit it because he was scared that he gonna be kick out in the group. Bighit said that if suga said it early they gonna help suga's education and shoulder injury. But suga just got scared but after a year suga said it to agency. In 2020 suga just had his shoulder surgery and he been absent in 3 months for recover so many performance he did'nt attend and in mama 2020 he was in hologram to make them in complete 7 again
Please do not pigeonhole any artist into one genre. They are capable of so much more. Suga is a great story teller and expressing emotions that are hard to deal with in everyday life.
yoongi making his own storyboard for his mv especially haegeum even since 3 years ago so yeah. the good thing is bts always has freedom to their own craft and they are truly the definition of artists/musicians. and personally, i never see bts as "kpop" anymore. they are truly living legend group.
Listen, I have literally seen your videos from the first one you ever posted since I became ARMY in 2017. I know is no obligation to know their life, but I’m surprised you know so little about Yoongi’s accident since this is something very well known, does this mean you have never watch the documentaries? I recommend them deeply
there’s lots of ppl tht just listen to music at face value and don’t dive into anything deeper or look into the lives of the artists i think they’re just like tht they react to music and enjoy it for what it is but don’t bother to look into anything further about each member etc
Ya'll reacted to 'The Last' by Agust D about 3 years ago. I think this would be a good time revisit that song and reaction because that was the first time he mentioned his struggle with depression and his accident was mentioned in that song too.
this isn’t really part of the story line anymore but more so yoongis life story with his moms heart surgery, dads liver cancer, and the car accident that injured his shoulder.
The accident mentioned in the song was actually way worse. Around 2012/2013 he was doing his delivery job when a car ran him over and drove off (it was raining) and he hurt his shoulder crazy bad and described it as when he looked to his side the tire was right next to his head. He didn’t tell the company or other member’s because he was afraid to be kicked out and kept up with the rigorous schedule and dancing without surgery. He used to love B-Boying but hasn’t done it since because of his shoulder and he only JUST got a surgery to fix it in 2020. He was using that job to pay for schooling and bts were so poor back then but he had to quit his job too. I can’t imagine going through all that not to mention his moms heart problems, Dads liver cancer, training/practicing, the accident, and it’s said that around this time is when his girlfriend broke up with him and his childhood friend went to jail
Younger Suga on the bike at the end has an epiphany moment BEFORE the next residual "loop" memory replays again for the millionth time (as all that Augst D has been able to do up to this point is just re-live the tragedies over and over and over again in a downward spiral). Suga races to the door in a effort to stop the chaos and let Augst D out of his brain/Amygdala...and realizes that he can't change the past nor save himself from what he will have to go though as the door is locked. The 2 identities that make up Suga/Augst D will always be a part of him as we can't change our pasts no matter how much we wish we could. BUT, in that final scene, young Suga finally BROKE the haunting loop cycle memory by finally breaking out of that destructive pattern (him racing to open the locked door) instead of continuing on his bike in his memory and ultimately crashing as he has in his mind every time since the accident, over and over and over again. IN THIS ACTION of trying to take a stand against the mental torment and try and actually save himself breaks the downward spiral pattern because something different, for the first time, resulted in him actually WANTING to save his own life now. While the two entities will always be separate, breaking the mental loop of re-living tragedy every day brings the 2 entities into one and ignites the healing transformation that brings him to today as a prolific songwriter, story teller, survivor and massive mental health advocate and ally. This is literally one of the best songs ever made. Suga/Augst D is a fkn genius.
yoongi talks about his most painful memories. like his mother's heart surgery, his accident (which he couldn't tell anyone about), and his father's cancer. in the chorus, yoongi asks the amygdala to hurry up and save him because the amygdala is in charge of storing memories associated with emotional events, receives danger signals, and develops self-protective reactions. basically, yoongi asks the amygdala to help him forget or develop a self-protection system against all the pain caused by those memories. also, i love your reactions. thanks for that
AGUST D served as an outlet for all the pain and trauma that he held onto. Now as he has released all of it by killing the boss and, as Yoongi stated, ending the Agust D Triology; He can go on with his life freely now.
Yeah he was in a motorcycle accident when was working as a delivery driver. He hurt his shoulder but couldn't tell anyone because he was scared the company would let him go
This is all about his hardest memories, it's one reason it took him so long to write this song because he had to break into some really hard and painful memories. The accident that he couldn't mention is because when he got hit by the car doing a part time job that he wasn't supposed to be doing during his trainee period.
It's like these guys are different person who started their first reaction of kpop with BTS.. and nothing but wishing a good luck for ur future endeavors 🙏
His Amygdala MV was so emotional for me, for him, for everyone who has struggled mentally 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 The end of his concert, Suga finally opened and left through that door!💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
This is his life story you guys everything mentioned in the lyrics and shown in the video actually happened to him.. AGUST D represents all of yoongi's pain...he created this persona out if rage.. remember in the last's lyrics he said that he k!lled min yoongi.. and took on the AGUST D persona and gave himself that scar on the eye
It's a bit more nuanced. The amygdala (which is in both sides of our brain, so maybe amygdalas?) serve many more functions than relating to trauma ;) For one, we have a circuit responsible for human ability to infer the intentions of others from their language, gaze, and gestures and helps with social interactions. Another is the function in regulating anxiety, aggression, fear conditioning, emotional memory, and social cognition. (a lesion in the amygdala often results in lack of fear and/or lack of appropriate social behavior (you don't recognize social clues). The amygdala processes not only emotions of fear, but it is also involved in stimulation of appetite: food, sex, and drugs. It also has a role in memory, the activation of the amygdala has a modulatory effect on the acquisition and consolidation of memories that evoke an emotional response. -- emotional as in good AND bad, not just traumatic experiences. The different divisions of the amygdala nuclei have different functions too: regulates behavioral and physiological responses to stress, in physiological responses to stressors and some drug-related stimuli and also psychological responses such as anxiety and stress So not that simple, either for the MV or for the meaning of the song. ^^
It isn’t really a storyline, it’s actually about his life story. All the different parts are about things that happend in his life. For example the car crash in the beginning of the mv, was the car crash that happens before debut when he was a delivery driver in which he injured his shoulder(causing him to no do any group activities a few years ago)
The story is Dechwita,Haegeum and Amygdala (Ah-mig-duh-luh) I HIGHLY recommend y'all check out the three back to back as Yoongi indeed. If I'm thinking correctly from what I gathered from things Yoongi has said about this trilogy....after this album/concert this will be the last time we get anymore "AGUST D". This was the "final death" if you will.
You guys are only focusing on the storyline but this is the reason and how Agust D was created. Yoongi has a scar from his past trauma, not a real one on his face but it represents all he has went through.... we truly don't deserve him istg. I just want to hug him and thank him so much. Not only for his bravery to be open about all this, but for his incredible art. His passion is like no other, and I thank God he powered through this hardship....the pain in his eyes are real. Imagine reenacting your past trauma. I can only imagine how tough this was, but he did it for us...
He has talked a LOT about this accident I’m surprised y’all didn’t get it, this is real and it happened to him, it is a pretty sensitive topic not only to Army’s but to him as well
He was remiscince about the past from the day he was born, his accident, his mom heart surgery, his father's liver cancer, full of anger when he was young but now he accepted what the past struggle and problem was and be happy and move on with life. He clearly said he is happy and doing well in IU pallette. Motto: can't go back and change the past, accept the past reality which makes you stronger and move on with life and be happy.
btw yes the motor cycle part shown in the mv was really his accident he once mentioned that during his trainee years he doesn't have money so he worked as a delivery guy next thing he knew was his shoulder was crushed under (also remember his song "the last" it was mentioned there too)
I've said it once and I'm saying it again: Yoongi is a genius and I stan tf out of him. Out of all of the members of BTS, he resonates with me more because I've been through most of what he had been. I can't with how much I love this man, since he's the reason why I got into BTS in the first place and I'm glad that I'm still ARMY. The thing is, though, is that I can understand the pain that he's gone through; sure, not all of the stuff, like the shoulder injury, but things like mental health and such, I can understand so damn much of how he must've felt.
He is finally letting the world see what he went through before he was in bts and how he overcame it and how there is yoongi and suga who keeps having nightmares but agust d who keeps rising from it and pushing through it all with this hunger to get to where he needs to be.The trauma from the day he was born when his mother fell I’ll😷 to the day he had his accident and stuffed his shoulder,to wanting to leave the world behind. These are the memories of his life💜💜💜💜💜
One Masterpiece after another 💜 Suga is just a genius lyricist, an amazing producer. His brain is just a work of art in creating music. How many artists like him are out there ?! Every freaking shot has a meaning connected to his lyrics 💜 Thanks guys!
The first time I watched this video without really knowing what it was about it hurt and it was hard to watch. I didn’t watch it again for a long time because I felt it hit too close to home. It’s a beautiful video with a wonderful message at the end. Perseverance. I am amazed at how you overcame and are the beautiful person and artist you are today. I am 68 and I love August D. His truth in his lyrics is amazing.
As you said, the amygdala is an emotional part of the brain but also manages memories. He seeks to erase all that is bad for him. Agust D was born of trauma, by self-inflicting injuries. We can also see him taking a lot of drugs, it was during the period of his scooter accident, he had developed an addiction to these drugs. At the end we see that he did not come out of the room that represents his amygdala that means that he learned to live with these bad memories and as he says in the song "I bloom again like a lotus flower"
I think trapped in room(Amygdala) isn't emotional side of Yoongi, it's part of Yoongi that appear because of trauma, at first he try to kill himself with knive, and then he do the scar and become Agust d
if some of y'all wondering what a "amygdala" means, here: "Almond-shaped group of neurons in the medial temporal lobes of the brain which plays a central role in the processing and memory of emotions, especially fear" so y'all just dont need to guess.
The crash is from when he was a trainee, and took up a delivery job unbeknownst to the members at that time. He just told them he fell down some stairs to not worry them. (At least this is what I've found after searching) And 'Amygdala' is something we all have located in the temporal lobe, aka somewhere in the brain. it helps you regulate your emotion and encode memories-especially when it comes to more emotional remembrances. Your brain stores all of your unpleasant memories in the amygdala. So that you can prepare yourself for stuff in the future. In the song he’s essentially begging his brain to forget the pain and fear he’s experienced. Edit: I see now that I wrote this before they searched up amygdala....
the accident part is a reference to his car accident that happened to hum while he worked as a delivery guy before his debut, the line "my accident that i couldn't mention". in 2012 he had a car accident and he broke his shoulder, he didn't told it cause he was afraid that big hit entertainment wont let him to continue. he told his parents that he fell in the stairs.
When he was a trainee, big hit had no money, so he secretly started working as a food delivery driver and was hit by a car when he was delivering in the rain. He couldn't tell the agency as one of the terms is not to work elsewhere, so he was frightening he would be cut from bts, he had to continue dancing and training in serious pain and for a signification amount of years, like 3-5yrs I think, then he couldn't continue after the 'on' promotion and had to have surgery in 2020, amaygdala is responsible for emotional learning, so if you get bit by a dog, your amygadala then learns to be weary of dogs in case it happens again. This track is all the feelings he has felt over the last 10years and the struggles he has had as an idol and a son, he worked on the dday album when they did in the soop, if you watch the d day special on Disney+.
It’s clear you all don’t know any of Sugas personal stories.. if you guys were true fans of BTS you would know the symbolisms with their music videos and songs.. this is not just a story line for a music video
this covers PTSD and the brain how it processes things, he was popping pills to handle everything, he joined BTS and preforming with a bad shoulder , this video he said was soooooo hard for him to complete becsuse it kept opening up doors he tried closing so many times one of my fav songs on D day
The he was talking about is when used to be delivery drive and he got hit a car and hurt his shoulder and at that time he was a trainee so he didn’t tell the company of having a messed up shoulder because he thought he would get to debut so he kept it secret until it fully healed
Y'all are onto something. The grey matter that sits on top of and wraps around parts of the subconscious brain (like the amygdala), is where your conscious memories are houses.
Yes - it is a real happening. The amygdala stores all the fears anxieties, and anger of a happening - and will show up as a memory in situations. If you are ARMY you will remember .... Suga had a bike accident delivering when he was a trainee. He lived in great pain through every dance performance and the tons of rehearsals. He didn't tell anyone because back then he was afraid they would drop him. Back a few years ago - you can see how BTS left an open space for him when they did award shows, even called him while they won and he spoke by phone - he had shoulder surgery. He will have a desk job in the military. We all have the same situation when fear shows up. We have to make choices to survive. But the memories will always be there it's how we deal with them. The rain from the outside with Suga on a bike transferred to the rain of AgustD in the room - The room is raining!
Hi, about the accident, Yoongi had a scooter accident because he worked on a delivery thing before BTS so AMYGDALA talk about his life and the accident part was real, he already talked about it in 2016 in The Last
Amygdala is a part of the brain that contains all kind of traumas. This song is about all his tramas. The accident when he was a delivery boy which caused his shoulder surgery, his mom heart's surgery, his dad liver cancer, his s*icide attempt. Lastly, him being unable to save himself. You guys can add in the reply if i miss something 😊
Please don't oversimplify or say it's about trauma :). Amygdala helps regulate all that, it's a good guy! As I replied to other comment... The different divisions of the amygdala nuclei have different functions too: regulates behavioral and physiological responses to stress, in physiological responses to stressors and some drug-related stimuli and also psychological responses such as anxiety and stress So not that simple, either for the MV or for the meaning of the song. ^^
I've been with FQ Squad since forever . So kinda disappointed about how vague you are on this given the amount of time you've spent with BTS and Yoongi is Ous' bias but it's okay since ya'll been very busy. Better late than never I guess.
The whole MV tugged at my heart strings, because the minute I saw the scene of him riding the bike and colliding with the car I knew what the song was about.
I really recommend you go watch Shuga sing the song live on his tour. This song means a lot to him and he cries that he performs it... By the way, the AMYGDALA is a part of the brain that also stores memories
“So all this countless suffering for my own good “ the amygdala stores bad memories so that when similar events come across you won’t repeat them. His memories make him suffer but it’s for his own good for him not to repeat the same mistake
Personally I loved the MV it was amazing, it was like watching a movie! The lyrics was so powerful that it almost made me cry cuz my Amygdala always brings my bad memories back when I don't want them to come back and Suga/Agust D has helped me alot! It helps me see that I can overcome whatever happens just like Suga!
Please note the split-second image of a hand holding almonds at 6:24. This is a reference to ALMOND: A NOVEL about a guy who has trouble identifying and describing experienced emotions because of a neuropsychologic condition (alexithymia). The "almond" refers to the amygdala, an almond-shaped area of the brain. Yoongi was seen reading this book in a preview to IN THE SOOP. The book is on Namjoon's recommended list.
Trapped in his trauma. I got PTSD from my service in the Marine Corps. this video message hit me so hard. Especially when traumas build up and happen again and again. It’s like, ok amygdala, get me the f outta here.
amygdala, region of the brain primarily associated with emotional processes He is talking about being let out of his emotional self bc it is in overdrive all the time (he suffers from OCD) so he fixates. Also.... there is the struggle between Yoongi and SUGA/Agust D. He is questioning whether his choices to make himself crazy as the perfectionist workaholic that he is are the right ones. He was a trainee when all that happened. His motorcycle accident that he hid from Bang PD bc he wasn't supposed to be working a side job while being a trainee; and his dad's illness. All the members talk about how they were so hungry to be successful that they just kept their heads down and worked their asses off. One day they turned around and they are mega stars and speakers at the White House as South Korean dignitaries and getting politicians fighting over whether they should be exempt from their military service!! IT'S the whole theme of the song ON. They also speak of the burnout in 'Black Swan'. Also. AgustD is no longer making music under that moniker as it was a trilogy and only a way to distinguish between BTS music and his solo work.
i took the ending as Suga deciding to forget his past and move forward. by shutting down his hurtful past. witch made him Agust D in the first place. the emotional and angry side of Suga. so now he is just himself and not controlled by emotions like he was when he was younger.
5:41 thank goodness you guys caught on here bc I was slowly feeling my blood boil at the lack of empathy and stuff for the lyrics and the video. But you clocked it and def had a shift in response and couldn’t have known what it was about from the beginning… I get it. I know you guys do a lot of K-pop idol stuff…. But BTS even solo albums are much more personal and vulnerable than is standard for ghat industry. There are insanely talented idols and idol groups… but it’s the message, the lyricism, the honest vulnerability with BTS that’s not a front for support…. It’s truth to provide hope, understanding and knowing it’s normal to feel down sometimes, happens to all of us. Except he’s not just saying that… he’s creating the audio and visuals of that entire sentiment….you don’t find this stuff in K-pop idols. Especially yoongi… the man is a genius and this album further solidified that. So proud of this guy.
he talked about his accident during his trainee days as a delivery years ago, he only had his surgery for his shoulder (from the accident) only 2-3 years ago (he's been in pain ever since)
The shoulder injury from pre-debut was what he couldn’t mention for fear of not being able to debut. It was only during COVID that he finally had the surgery he needed. Imagine living with the pain and fear for so many yeats
Suga, before his debut, was a delivery man who was injured in the shoulder due to a motorcycle accident, he was hit by a car, but he told his company after that and he was treated in the hospital by his company that he is now better than before
He open up everything, his part time job, his accident, suicide attempt, his parents health condition, hi depression, anxiety, hardship.🥹🥹😭😭😭.... he faced so many hardship🥹🥹😭😭but now yoongi we are happy to see you happy and healthy🥰💜💜yoongi is Cold from behind but from under Soft & Innocent Soul🤍🤍🫂🫂🫂💜💜💜
I know people already said what his accident was but in one of their docus yoongi said that after his accident he didn't want to be kicked out of the group before debut (or he was scared to be kicked out) so he didnt tell anyone what happened. He just told them he fell down the stairs. It wasn't until later he told the members
Yoongi released a amazing album that shows reflection on certain things and emotions he was feeling inside and decided to incorporate the song so beautiful and fascinated
I think that when his mom n dad were having a difficult time at home, he was in seoul busy doing work but he decided to stay to earn money. His family"s sacrifice is for his career. He was feeling guilty after all these years but now he is ready n letting go of the past.
This is Yoongi life story, his accident when he was a trainee, his mom’s heart surgery and his dad’s liver cancer.
And we pretend the suicide attempt isn't there :( Trolls are horrible! Don't you realize that pretending to be blind and deaf can actually trigger someone to attempt suicide by forcing them to keep quiet? Stop it! You are the moral fall of human nature!
@@KatieGeorgieva Wtf are you on about?
@@Abii140 Do you swear in this situation? Celiac? That's how far you've fallen as a human being?🤮
@@KatieGeorgieva Yoongi was not taking pills in the video they are mint candy’s he said this himself yesterday on live ever after the accident he took pills for the pain.
His dad s illness is very recent I truly hope his dad is better soon and I hope is mom is better too
All this happened to him
Yoongi in the past in 2012 had a car accident while working as a delivery (just like the video) and broke his shoulder and made a surgery in 2020 because he was afraid to tell the company when he was a trainee to not kick him out and then didn’t want to do the surgery because of his group to not disrupt the group’s work he was afraid + when he was born his mam did a heart surgery + his dad had a cancer + he faced depression for so long and even thought about kîlling himself and went to a psychologist .. it was hard for him because his family was so poor he had to go to school, work and train at the same time .. he didn’t eat to have money to take the bus
It shows that he made the scar himself, it represents what he went through, yoongi said he meant to show the scar healing in haegeum unlike daechwita .. he said that mean he is okay now and he said agust d is one of his personalities who faced these things, you can see suga tried to kill agust d the personality with the scar in both daechwita and haegeum , he is trying to kill and forget his bad memories that made that person to continue his life .
and he will stop to do songs under agust d again because the scar is healed now but that doesn’t mean the end he said if he found other things to talk about he will do , but now might release things under suga or yoongi
He is so brave and we are proud of him that he didn’t give up
His dads illness happened very recent so how is Yoongi Okay he is going through pain in his life

The whole MV is seriously just Yoongi bearing his history and thoughts. It's personal and raw. All the scenes just gives imagery on the things that actually happened. It gets to me so hard, he's sharing this much and he's overcome his struggles. The whole album is amazing
My thoughts also on the scar (we don't know all that he's gone through explicitly), but that he 'did that/hurt' himself in the MV in what we see later on as AgustD's mark in Daechwita and Haegeum to then him 'killing' that part is so much to take in
I think that scar is him becoming the Agust D persona to deal with that pain.
@@StylishChicVibes You can't relate to mine btw. My father died because of liver cancer in 2016
@@StylishChicVibes I’m so sorry to hear that. I wish your dad good health and speedy recovery. 💜🫂
Damn this man didn't get a treatment for his surgery for 8 years??
@@BlackBumblebee41 I don't know if it was treated in any way after debuting, but he never told anyone that the injury was that serious until a few years ago. And he only did it because the pain was no longer bearable
@@camux223 Oh man :(
Okay so, the comments have outlined the basics.
Джин не спасал его от суицида, это выдуманный момент с Вселенной Бантан
I can't forget the first time his parents agreed to come to his concert and how much he cried because of it. It was the first time I had seen this man cry
😭☹☹☹☹
I'm surprised you 2 didn't know about Suga accident that happened in 2012. Everything in this video, is true. He is sharing and showing army his struggles in the pass. What he went through before BTS. Amygdala is a part of the brain. That controls emotion and fear. 😭😭😭🥵
I’m also surprised by a few reactors that even called themselves “ARMY” or follow them for a long time and are completely oblivious of Yoongi story and other members stories.
They aren't really Armys or k-pop fans. I will never understand how they have so many followers.
@@zuzannabrzeszczak1578 these guys are fans what are you talking about so because they don’t know every detail about BTS they aren’t real fans not even baby army’s know everything. On of their freinds was on the show with BTS in 2014 called American hustle life.
So surprised, so many of these are fake thank god i got to know about this now
@@StylishChicVibes it's not few months they started reacting, it's been more than 2 years :(
Yes... it's not a K-pop concept it's his life story...
It’s also worth mentioning that he wrote the storyboard scripts for haegeum, daechwita, and amygdala! he was heavily involved in the mv makings
This is not a dream, this is his history, this MV is really meaningful and beautiful 💜
Amygdala is Latin for almonds and it's a part of your brain where traumatic or bad experiences is stored. Yoongi has a video where he explains this
This song and video is Yoongi's real life story about his trauma.
I came to your video because the amygdala video was restricted for me but im glad I came because you helped me understand the meaning behind the video ❤❤❤❤
just for your information Yoongi wrote the script for Haegeum and Amygdala.
In amygdala mv is yoongi's real life story its not a storyline its actually real, talk about his car accident, suicide attempt, depression
In 2012 when suga was a trainee before when bts debuted in 2013, suga work as a deliver boy and accidently hit by a car.
@@meowtide.but they watch run bts and bon voyage…
His Amygdala MV was so emotional for me, for him, for everyone who has struggled mentally 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
The end of his concert, Suga finally opened and left through that door!💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
AY I NEED THAT HAEGEUM REACTION RN
He talked about his accident an his surgery so many times before. Everything in the lyrics and mv happened irl.
Each part of the lyrics and mv is about his life and amygdala means a part of brain where all the trauma is stored !
Correct me if I'm wrong ✨☺️❤️
It's correct😊
It's a bit more nuanced. The amygdala (which is in both sides of our brain, so maybe amygdalas?) serve many more functions than relating to trauma ;)
For one, we have a circuit responsible for human ability to infer the intentions of others from their language, gaze, and gestures and helps with social interactions.
The different divisions of the amygdala nuclei have different functions too: regulates behavioral and physiological responses to stress, in physiological responses to stressors and some drug-related stimuli and also psychological responses such as anxiety and stress
So not that simple, either for the MV or for the meaning of the song. ^^
Also, the amygdala is also known as a amygdale, which is Greek for “almond” because it’s an almond like shape.
@@names._.alexx18 yeah i saw that explanation somewhere. He was eating it in the mv too
Correct.
It isn’t really a storyline, it’s actually about his life story. All the different parts are about things that happend in his life. For example the car crash in the beginning of the mv, was the car crash that happens before debut when he was a delivery driver in which he injured his shoulder(causing him to no do any group activities a few years ago)
The story is Dechwita,Haegeum and Amygdala (Ah-mig-duh-luh)
I HIGHLY recommend y'all check out the three back to back as Yoongi indeed.
It's all about him, he's great. I'm proud of him
This like a hard slap on the face of those who talk sh***t about BTS without even knowing them .
Suga is such great actor...all in one wow
he's not dreaming he's literally opening up about his past trauma
btw yes the motor cycle part shown in the mv was really his accident he once mentioned that during his trainee years he doesn't have money so he worked as a delivery guy next thing he knew was his shoulder was crushed under (also remember his song "the last" it was mentioned there too)
I've said it once and I'm saying it again: Yoongi is a genius and I stan tf out of him.
Istg reactors starting from zero by reacting to BTS all this time and then they ask if it's real or not, it pisses me off
He is finally letting the world see what he went through before he was in bts and how he overcame it and how there is yoongi and suga who keeps having nightmares but agust d who keeps rising from it and pushing through it all with this hunger to get to where he needs to be.The trauma from the day he was born when his mother fell I’ll😷 to the day he had his accident and stuffed his shoulder,to wanting to leave the world behind. These are the memories of his life💜💜💜💜💜
One Masterpiece after another 💜
Suga is just a genius lyricist, an amazing producer. His brain is just a work of art in creating music.
How many artists like him are out there ?!
Every freaking shot has a meaning connected to his lyrics 💜
Thanks guys!
This is suga true story please do some research abt suga and his past .. This song is very emotional for bts fans that know bts life stories 😢
I think trapped in room(Amygdala) isn't emotional side of Yoongi, it's part of Yoongi that appear because of trauma, at first he try to kill himself with knive, and then he do the scar and become Agust d
if some of y'all wondering what a "amygdala" means, here:
"Almond-shaped group of neurons in the medial temporal lobes of the brain which plays a central role in the processing and memory of emotions, especially fear" so y'all just dont need to guess.
The crash is from when he was a trainee, and took up a delivery job unbeknownst to the members at that time. He just told them he fell down some stairs to not worry them. (At least this is what I've found after searching)
And 'Amygdala' is something we all have located in the temporal lobe, aka somewhere in the brain. it helps you regulate your emotion and encode memories-especially when it comes to more emotional remembrances. Your brain stores all of your unpleasant memories in the amygdala. So that you can prepare yourself for stuff in the future. In the song he’s essentially begging his brain to forget the pain and fear he’s experienced.
Edit:
I see now that I wrote this before they searched up amygdala....
the accident part is a reference to his car accident that happened to hum while he worked as a delivery guy before his debut, the line "my accident that i couldn't mention". in 2012 he had a car accident and he broke his shoulder, he didn't told it cause he was afraid that big hit entertainment wont let him to continue. he told his parents that he fell in the stairs.
He explains this song in the latest episode of Suchwita. He explains that self inflicted scar as well.
Why did you do it
?
Someone cast Yoongi in a movie asap. His acting in music videos and the VCR’s from his concert are superb!!!
Lol not them realizing that Suga’s “Storyline” is just his life story from his mind
Watch again.
I love the depth of your conversation and brainstorming in this reaction
Yes that's his accident, he was a delivery guy when he had the accident.
I want to cry 💔💔 The song is so deep about his past and what Yoongi went through..the accident and everything is real💔😭😭🫂
-- emotional as in good AND bad, not just traumatic experiences but also remembering your grandma and her pastries type of memory.
The different divisions of the amygdala nuclei have different functions too: regulates behavioral and physiological responses to stress, in physiological responses to stressors and some drug-related stimuli and also psychological responses such as anxiety and stress
So not that simple, either for the MV or for the meaning of the song.
It’s like, ok amygdala, get me the f outta here.
amygdala, region of the brain primarily associated with emotional processes
He is talking about being let out of his emotional self bc it is in overdrive all the time (he suffers from OCD) so he fixates. Also.... there is the struggle between Yoongi and SUGA/Agust D.
So proud of this guy.
he talked about his accident during his trainee days as a delivery years ago, he only had his surgery for his shoulder (from the accident) only 2-3 years ago (he's been in pain ever since)
kinda surprised you didn't know about the accident..
The shoulder injury from pre-debut was what he couldn’t mention for fear of not being able to debut. It was only during COVID that he finally had the surgery he needed. Imagine living with the pain and fear for so many yeats
Suga, before his debut, was a delivery man who was injured in the shoulder due to a motorcycle accident, he was hit by a car, but he told his company after that and he was treated in the hospital by his company that he is now better than before
3 personalities… Min Yoongi, Suga and Agust D… trying to figure out who he is… adore this video and his message.
This man sugaa is not from our world definitely..he is amaaaaaazing😭😭
