    I am absolutely blown away. I have been seeing a pattern of relapse in my life. Every three years I relapse. Since I was a teenager. I would be clean ND then pick up after three years. I am sober now for almost three ND a half years. My date is July 20 th and I was a heroine and meth addict. I was using needles. I have been going through hard times these last few months, and just like you said, I been wondering why I'm feeling the way that I have. Last time I had three years, I relapsed and the time before that, and the time before that. I understand now the importance of the medicine wheel cycle for my life. I am very VERY greatful for this because I have very few elders in my life today to help me. I do go to Narcotics Anonymous through out the week, and always crave for White Bison meetings, but have none close to home. I am on my fourth step in my 12 step program of N.A. I have been fearful of this fourth year coming up. I told myself that I would not relapse no matter what. I looked at the White Bison ND it spoke to me. The bison is made for survival, it lives in the coldest regions and no matter how cold it gets, it remains in his position through the storm. I told my self that NO MATTER WHAT, I was going to be like the bison. I was going to be clean and sober ND no matter how cold or hard the storm gets, I will remain, like the bison. Thank you for these teachings. I was in tears while you taught this because It just brought light to unanswered questions ND worries in my heart. I appreciate you dedicating your time to help our hurting brothers and sisters. Many blessings to you.

    I'm in between fall (23) and winter (24) right now dealing with severe depression again and I am in a state where I cannot answer those three questions. Thank you Grandpa Don for helping me understand that this is a natural process/cycle of growth.

    I met you about 3 years ago in Colorado Springs, went to your workshop and I really enjoyed it. I was coming up on 4 years but I had a bad relapse which seems to happen when I'm close to 4 years. I needed this reminder. I pray I stay on this Red Road. Thank you Don

    Thank you.. I am in my 23 rd year and this is the first time I have heard this teaching, but I can look back and know that there is truth in this. I am experiencing a huge change that began almost exactly on my sobriety anniversary in a relationship that has had some unhealthy patterns for long time. It feels really bad right now, but I believe your teaching can help me see it differently

    Nothing manifests into this physical realm without the origins of its/the creator. So everything is part of creation. How can one be without a creator? Lost, filled with anger and bitterness. One must be humble and grateful always. For this experience with we call life is something from where dreams and miracles come from or are made out of. Thank you for your beautiful book

    Really great teaching, and applicable to so much. So wonderful how The Creator embedded these VERY simple yet profound lessons in the world we are so blessed to inhabit and live through. I'm still in my "first spring" just heading into Summer, although of course I see I've gone through these cycles many times before, albeit not in sobriety. And of course winter is such a magical season, with endless treasures given to us by God, if we've prepared, and if we have eyes to see, and hearts to feel. Stay warm out there family !

    Thanks Don! Just have to say that you look and sound a lot like your father. He taught me a lot in early sobriety in the mid-90's.

  • @AlanWinterboy
    @AlanWinterboy 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Was always unsure whether these cycles really happen, or whether they were self-fulfilling prophecies. It's become obvious that although my ego would like to pin these seasons to precise days and times or reject the concept because I cannot, I definitely go through spring, summer, harvest, and hibernation cycles. But I've also noticed that I seem to be able to jumpstart out of or into another season by returning to basic principles--though I'm not sure how that fits into the general idea; the point is I'm ot necessarily bound by them.

    I saw you back at Fellowship of the Spirit in about 1998 in Silvercliffe Colorado. Frank was there and my friend Jim from the PNW as well. Good to hear of you. I live in a small village just south of you called Pueblo. Maybe our paths can cross again. Go well brother in recovery. If you see my other bro in recovery, a Lakota medicine man named Tony C, tell him he's got a friend down in Pueblo. He brought my 74 Sportster back from Nebraska about 15 years ago.

    3 years now..i have been dating long distance..my twin flame.. She's a half native American woman who i deeply love.. shes relapsed for the 6th time last night.. she so loving kind most timed ..generous and inyelligent when sober..then on a dime she relapses.. calls me.. blames mr.. is cruel.. yells threatens... victim talking etc ..and im a few years sober now over 5 years . I grew up with alchoholic parents..im loyal to those i love but can't accept be blamed for others fallings into relapse again . I already am alone...cut ties with toxic griends family..even my drunk mother also none native . I feel lost but know i can not trust now in any real way that she is going to get sober and work it. I survived 6 suicide attempts myself and stopped blaming the world 5 years ago ..and saw my own toxic bullshit finally in my own life 5 years back and fully own my actions now . I encourage her to seek professional help. My addictions were pills... occasionaly binge drank if self harming but im not even tempted to drink. This woman means the world to me..but i can't save her from herself. Alchoholics i loved had alwayd helped me in destroying my own life and self worth..i was co dependant. I do still truly love her.. but finnaly learned i can't trust this.. i can help noone get sober who doesnt want it. She throws love in my face..screams at me ..turns evil.. is very abusive verbally only . When she drinks. All i know is i wont enable this woman further or trust even that she wants to change at this point . Im a whitb non indigenous wash a shore ..but very native minded ..ive been in cognitive therapy for years..lost many loved ones to addiction..now im alone once more but kept myself..i wont self harm.. i just pray to the Creatorb she can find her own power to stop and stop making excuses . Thank you for the video..i felt perhaps it may reach her better than i can. Aho Mitake Oyasin . All my relations. I feel for the addict.. but can't be their answer or reason to get well. I just hope it doesn't kill her. 🍂🍃i truly love her.💓. but must let her choose her own way too.💔
