The Japanese crime syndicates are not fans of zombies either.
Fast-talking Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw reviews a new game each week in this animated series that combines informed critique with cutting humor. Watch the next episode of Zero Punctuation a week early, only on The Escapist.

“It’s be a cool mechanic is as you neared 100% completion Kazuma’s face gradually shifted into a warm smile.” I’m dying 😂
I was kind of hoping this game would be solely melee combat. like think about it, what's more badass? A guy with a shotgun blowing off zombie heads or someone kicking a zombie's teeth in as you switch into an uppercut decapitating him.
I think guns more badass
Constable Blimey Chips: undead rampage
I would buy that
same
"Real" zombies are actually cured by salt.
One piece I take it
I'm imagining Brian Blessed insulting a zombie to till it's head explodes.
531chaz Yes but that would run the risk of zombie Brian Blessed. Which would doom us all.
"Grah? GRAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" - Zombie Brian Blessed
531chaz that should be a game!
I am imagining Queen Elisabeth II insulting you till you learn the difference between "it's" and "its".
531chaz Why has no one done this yet?!
hehehe "yakoozer"
"come for the sushi stay for the stomping" made me laugh pretty nicely
Brian Blessed should be an optional boss in every game, regardless of story, genre, platform, publisher, etc.
Unfortunately the only game I can think of that he was in is Kingdom Hearts. Ah well.
But hes not an optional boss in kingdom hearts...
There was Warhammer 40,000: Fire Warrior too, but we don't like to talk about that one...
@@OhYouInternet good news he plays gortrek in total Warhammer 2, so while not a boss he's a tough hero for whichever army gets hold of him
may the thumbnail for this never change
Did you know?
That the character of Majima was based off of the Joker from DC comics. They even had Mark Hamill voice him for the american English dub of Yakuza 1
Another reason I loved the shit out of that first game.
Wait Mark Hamill voiced Majima in the dub? How the fuck did I not know that??
@@FALG31 Because Yakuza 1 was the only game dubbed in English? So you'd just used to Yakuza having Japanese voices
@@MrPerfect2000Z I know it was the only one dubbed in english, I was surprised by the fact that Mark Hamill voiced Majima and I didn't notice
@@FALG31 The scene at the Batting Cage is the most recognisable for his voice because he starts sounding like Joker. Every other scene he is kind of trying to use a different voice for Majima so understandable if you didn't realise.
when I played the game I picked up a bicycle and hit a zombie with it and I started singing bicycle by queen
I want to ride my BIIICYCLE *smack* BIIIICYCLE *smack* BIIIIICYCLE
since he skipped yakuza 5, hope he'll do a review of yakuza 0
Dang, are you some kind of fortune teller?
Why'd he skip 5?
Would anyone else play a game where you play as Brian Blessed shooting mouth lasers at zombies? I think it would make a good successor to Infamous.
Oi What the fuck
They also did it with Sleeping Dogs, only with Vampires and Undeads instead...
I now use "why the scrambled eggs on fuck toast" in regular conversation, thank you Yahtzee you mad bastard.
Even if the game isn't very good at least it let Kiryu and Majima use guns in Project X Zone 2.
Huh, duel wielding custom pistols, a rather terrible looking vest over the rest of his clothes, fighting demonic creatures. Sound familiar anyone?
Who else saw the thumbnail and said, "Ohhh, this will be interesting"?
"Brick-chewingly psychotic" is a phrase I've found myself adapting into my personal lexicon recently, whenever I start horrifically overthinking edits at my job.
Little bit of trivia: Doogie Horner, the comic who made it to the semi-finals on America's Got Talent, is a graphic designer when he's not doing comedy. And his best known work in that field is the cover art of 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'.
I personally liked Dead Souls. But then again, it was my first Yakuza game, so I didn't have anything to compare it to bar a tiny bit of gameplay footage at the time.
"Why the Scrambled Eggs on F*ck-toast..." Another reason I've always loved these. So colo(u)rful.
we need a bicicle fencing spinoff
there are about 50 eps ahead on thier website
To be fair you can invert the controls to re-invert the aiming to the "proper" way (much like the human eye does ironically)
i really want to use what he does in paper for college cause he uses examples that make sences but there soo over the top that its funny
Is the song at the start an actual song, or is it just an intro? :D
One way that I know I've aged is that when I saw this video at time of release, I didn't know that 'town bicycle' was an actual thing. I thought it was just a non-sequitur to break up the rule of threes.
Oh, to be young again.
Yakuza 5's being localized, in case somebody hasn't heard.
and Project Nexus 2 is coming out soon.
And my boner continues to intensify
If i wanted to play a yakuza game, should i start with game one or can i start with any of them? Does the games have a ongoing story or do they all stand on their own?
BlitzBurn buddy the yakuza series is like an amc show. You can start any where because at the beginning of every game they tend to recap the previous games. But you should really start at the beginning....
Btw dead souls is non Canon
0:31 Omg! I can't believe I never realized that!
We need another game like the first Prototype where we can beat the shit out of zombies (with improved, bigger and a little bit more complex combat mechanics) and fly away Just Cause style.
+Fernando Langalú You just described Dying Light except that it also has parkour and dune buggies in the upcoming the Following DLC. Beat the main game 2-se and cant wait for the Following that hopefully comes as scheduled and not delayed like most AAA games love to do recently.
+Pesok I said "like Prototype", I know there are many games that allow you to beat the shit out of zombies with style and stuff, but they're not "like" Prototype
+Pesok "where we can beat the shit out of zombies and fly away Just Cause style." Where do you see the resemblance to Dying Light?
+Fernando Langalú So... Prototype?
+DarkestScratch That's the thing, the only one that exists so far is Prototype, we need more than just that game
Dead Souls was what got me into the series. At first it was for killing zombies. But then I really got immersed into the story. Because of it, I gave the series a try and now I have all the games.
Not a huge Yak fan, but haven't all of them had guns. Just did 4 a couple months ago and not that i mained guns i know i had a couple of them. That 1 of each type of weapon trophy didn't exclude guns.
As someone who's played every Yakuza game released in the west aside from Dead Souls and Judgement, yes, there are guns in Yakuza games, but they're treated like every other weapon in that they have durability (or in guns' case, ammo) and once it runs out, you can't use it anymore (period if it's picked up off the ground, or until you get it repaired if it's one you have in your inventory), only in guns' case, the heavy attack button is used to shoot.
With a thumbnail like this, who could resist watching?
Scrambled eggs on fuck toast... fucking gold!!!!
yakuzer
“OMAN they seem to say”
Thanks man! Forgot about the Good ol' website!
He has, on the website.
what is the name of the begging song?
In war of the roses: kingmaker you can play as his voice
yea, youtube is just used to give ads to their actual website(Which is sickly popular after all, ZP gets 4 million hits per week and sometimes not even the most popular)
"Why the scrambled eggs on fuck-toast..." THAT IS FUCKING WONDERFUL!!!
He already did. It can be viewed on the Escapist website.
iv got his voice stuck in my head :D
YAY ANOTHER ONE!
Gordon! nice to see ya buddy!
Yes.
Why is this video only in 240p?
my i ask what you use to make these videos ?
How could I not click on a thumbnail like that?
Once you learn get the hang of the shooting controls, they shouldn't be a problem. Just because it's not what you're used to doesn't mean it's badly designed. Or you could just use melee weapons and fuck guns altogether.
"Scrambled eggs on fuck toast" Fucking Awesome
Hilariously, Resident Evil 4 uses the left analog stick for aiming as well... :p
+SuperArppis I only played the best RE4 version (the Wii edition), so I can't relate.
Andre Gon
Lucky you! :)
SuperArppis aye, but then again it wasn't until later in the series when people started being able to move while aiming so you would kind of expect that if you are familiar with the series (in the old games you also had to aim with the movement controls, was more than a bit unpleasant as a transition from the silent Hill games for me.
@@andregon4366 You can Pat from Two Best Friends Play flipping his shit over this comment, to this day.
Jesus Yahtzee you slay me. My god you're just damn funny. I don't even care anymore when it's a game I like that you're ripping on.
True, I do
this is actually a very interesting yet fun game. a couple weeks ago i cleaned out my game inventory yet i decided to keep a couple of games i had suprisingly chosen this game as one of my keepers
I really want a game to feature Brian Blessed shooting lasers out of his mouth.
0:17 - okay, seriously, is Yahtzee EVER gonna tell us who that guy is? He's in soooo many videos. Who is he?
Actually, in an episode of the original anime, they show some normal fish. They are then never heard of or seen again.
This made me laugh more than it should have. xD
I agree completely.
rot wilers are nice depending on how you raise them
Nice review, as always.
Is it me, or did anyone else get a Japanese ad because of the title of the video?
Agreed.
Anyone here going to talk about that Masterpiece of a thumbnail?
I would like to see this list of yours, Yahtzee.
yes! absolutely! I love it, I'll have to come back to it soon and finish my Dead Souls Mode runthrough, feels like an entirely different game like that
Brian blessed would be an amazing Warhammer 40k commissar
THEY KEEP CALLING MEEE
Weird how this was the game that got me into the Yakuza series.
Check his website, it's there
escapistmagazine(dot)com/videos/view/zero-punctuation
The aiming controls are only hard for a bit but are easy to use once you get the hang of them.
Yahztee knows his Honeynut.
Yes...
Did he do a Killer review?
observation noted.
why the scrambled eggs on F*** toast! LOL
the piss comment in the beginning was amazing because its me
It's arguably pretty good.
It's a full song composed for Zero Punctuation, just google Zero Punctuation full theme and you'll be bound to find it.
I’ve encountered aiming with the left stick in other Japanese games. Maybe it’s a typical Japanese developer thing?
Ok, I look down at the featured videos column and think to myself: " A rather obscure thumbnail that consists of five or six themed characters crowded around a tanned arse like they're about to dance around it naked and sacrifice to the flying spaghetti monster? Don't mind if I fucking do!!!
this is so old it's still in 240p
I'm going to be that guy that points out the 10mm smg from Fallout 3 used as Yahtzee's gun in the credits.
Game of Thrones and X-Files references in the same episode... Christmas has come early :D
You my friend have yet to play Condemned.
Actually, Red Dead Revolver was designed to be a western horror shooter where zombies would be the main enemy. It devolved into a western and it's successor Red Dead Redemption followed off it. UnDead Nightmare was simply Rockstar getting to utilize their original idea.
actually the term doesn't stress the U as an oo sound. It's more of a "kuh" than a "koo".
a book suddenly appeared yesterday on my desk, and today when watching this video I saw the same book at 0:35
wut... :D
Hopefully Yakuza 5 gets localized so Yahtzee can review that one as well. From what I've seen, there's now a pop idol dance battle minigame. Can't wait to hear his opinion on that. If he thinks the story and gameplay in these games are two cards that are driving in two different direction, Yakuza 5's story and gameplay might as well be a car and a spaceship at the opposite ends of the earth; one moving toward the moon and one toward the sun
It's still a good game though.
Oh did not notice you beat me to it.
Ha, the town bicycle because everyone's had a turn XD
They should add pirates in the next installment.
There needs to be a game where you play as Vaas Montenegro from Far Cry 3.
omg its back
Yes :D
There needs to be a game where you can play as Brian Blessed.
UGH I felt the sewing needle under the fingernail!
Why didn't they just have them fight zombies in melee then?
