I’m a single guy and this concept of dating one’s self genuinely confuses me. When I want to go out and do something by myself I just do it. Will going out and doing things alone have more meaning if I call it a date? I’m at a loss. This confuses me so much. Can someone please explain?

it’s just romanticizing it! and putting the intention in that you are taking yourself out. Could just be doing something by yourself but calling it a date puts a lot of meaning in it for me!
