People here complaining about the 7k price tag without realizing that 16 channels of any decent rackmount compressor would cost way more and do way less in comparison.
I would definitely want to see this thing compared to high-quality plugins and high quality 500 series compressors before reaching any conclusion that it is worth anywhere close to this price.
You couldn't cram 16 high quality 500 series compressors into that box so it makes me wonder what compromises were made. Might be amazing, but it's easy to get hyped up about something new as we've all learned.
The drums at the start of the video sound exceptionally awesome. One must be a genius to design such a device, very cool product.

I don't get it, how's that analog if you are sending digital through thunderbolt? Does it convert d/a and than process it as electrical signal? Sounds more as DSP like UA chips but ala mcdsp...
Its analog processors that can be reconfigured for each plug in offered. Sos said its sounds better than uad and acustica stuff which are the top analog emulations. This is actual analog so its gonna sound better than a emulation of analog

No, this is actual analog circuitry, the Apollo unison plugins just change the impedance of the preamp so the mic reacts similarly to how the actual preamp would influence it. But the actual plug-in is running on DSP (digital signal processing). The McDSP has actual programmable analog circuits.

Well, did you listen to the product explanation?? 16 channels of analog processing is why it's $7k. If you can't afford it, then you should absolutely just use plugins.
Beau Stephenson Music Channel No way this is true analog sound. Yes it’s an analog signal path, but it lacks the transformers/tubes to give you that big sound.
Allan Curtis sounds better than any plugin I’ve used. It doesn’t have tubes, but I’m sure it has transformers.
And yeah your going to keep spending on those plugins. They will become obsolete
Aaa 940 I don’t use plugins except for autotune on occasion. I mix through highest quality outboard equipment.

This is like saying "hey I see you ran your $50 modeling amp direct in, and recorded albums just fine, but you should come buy our $5000 Hughes and kettner tube amp cause it's the real thing!!" Outrageous
Yeah that amp will last you probably for the rest of your life, and possibly retain its value or gain in value. The modeling amp will become obsolete and lose all of its value tills it’s worth nothing
