How do I do this basically in reverse. Our company needs to export our entire vault with references to a new production facility

Good Video, perfect We have an engineer who loves to keep everything local until the last minute but that causes issues getting things in the vault pulling from his location even though they are still in the vault. Very helpful. Whenever I say the words, "I wish Solidworks had this feature", they always do if I look hard enough.

In any case, while importing files from local to PDM, Wether it will consider the the existing position of the parent assembly and its newly given mates. If i worked in local environment and uploading the modified subassembly to the PDM?

Not sure if I understand the process you are describing. Once the files are uploaded into PDM all of the mates and references will be recorded PDM and future changes should only be made in the PDM system.

If I use this feature, will I still get automatic dialog windows for the data cards, or do I need to go through and update those separately?

No, you won’t get dialog windows for the data cards. You will need to look at each file and modify any values in the data card before checking in the files. If you have more questions, do the import with a small assembly and see how it works.

What are "References" ? What are "PDMs" ?
