I have a show recommendation, It’s called Mobile Suit Gundam Witch From Mercury. It’s an Anime. The show has a strong LGBTQ focus, fun characters, a cohesive and strong story, has this mix of light hearted moments and very dark moments, and some incredible action sequences. After the Owl House ended, Witch from Mercury was the next show I became invested in. As someone who isn’t even that big of an anime fan, I highly recommend this to you.
@@loganrobson8624 I wouldn't really say a show where the queerness is "up to interpretation" gives it a strong queer focus. It's more of a queerbait show then sincere representation like the Owl House.

Camila is such a good mom, taking in five kids from another world, supporting her daughter, both in terms of her interests, and her sexuality despite what everyone around her says, and even saving a possessed Hunter from drowning. And now she's going to the demon realm with Luz to help and protect her. I'm happy to say, she's become one of my favorite characters.

The mom/veterinarian who's shown kindness to random animals and anger at illegal trapping is well set-up as a character to be the one who takes in kids, doesn't hesitate in an emergency (saving Hunter), and is *pissed* when his actions hurt a kid and (functionally) kill a bird.
Slight detail: you say Hunter came up with the fake name Caleb. But that's not entirely true. If you go back to when Hunter calls himself Caleb for the first time, you'll notice he's thinking about a fake name, then Flapjack chirps at him, and only then Hunter says "Caleb".
Flapjack is the one who suggested the name Caleb as a cover, because he knew the original Caleb.
Also, there's a theory that Evelyn was a Clawthorne, as all of the Clawthorne family members have a bird palisman.

Not only knew him; Flapjack was Caleb’s palisman, created for him by Evelyn Clawthorne. That’s why Flapjack didn’t need to Hunter to reveal his desire in order to bond with him; they were already bonded, for 400 years.

The difference in Luz's demeanor compared to Season 1 is staggering here. She used to look so bright and chipper, like she couldn’t wait to go conquer the world. Now she's withdrawn and exhausted, like if she didn't have important goals to accomplish, she might just lie in bed all day.
Also, her classroom tirade scared me the first time I watched it, like "She needs help, that's suicidal talk there."
The number of people who didn't realize the meaning of that scene when it first came out was unnerving tbh

no she stated an underlaying truth about hero stories but at the same time misses the most esential truth like a old weary tired warrior who has seen too much bloodshead and friends die

@mernasi The reason that we're saying the classroom tirade is concerning is that she seems to be projecting onto the protagonist of the story they're reading. She says that he went on a journey/mission that put everyone in danger, and that if his friends and family knew about it, they would hate him. That's just her own feelings about what she did. She thinks that everything that happened is her fault, because she was tricked by Belos. In her mind, that means that even going to the Boiling Isles in the first place was a mistake.
Given all of that, the line that is really concerning is when she says it would be better if the hero "literally never existed". Thinking "it would be better if I never existed" is a type of suicidal ideation, and can signify really bad problems with a person's mental health.
Not to mention her diary video sounding a hell of a lot like a suicide note.
I know it isn't the worst thing objectively, but one of the most viseral things about Belos taking over Hunter that I found really disturbing is his Hair. Belos _makes it grow back_ especially that little lock in the front. I know the other stuff is much more body horror, but this to me is so fucked up. Cutting his Hair was the first time Hunter made a choice about his own body, his first step to becoming _himself_ and Belos forcibly takes that away from him.
Completely agree. It's a complete insult to injury in robbing Hunter of his autonomy, even over his own body.

38:38 a lot of people don’t notice this, but hunters eyes changed colors. They went from being the same pink/purple as every other grimwalker to being brown like Caleb’s and Flapjacks eyes.
30:20 Hunter is also a Grimwalker of Caleb, he isn’t a grimwalker of Caleb and Evelyn’s kid. A lot of people seemed to also think he was their kid. I believe he was created to have the same ears as any other witch in order for him to fit in with the demon realm. If he had human ears like Caleb it would have been very obvious he wasn’t from there.
It's also possible that the Grimwalker spell was designed to create copies of witches specifically and because of that all the golden guards end up coming out a bit of a mix.

Also, given all the owl themed look, red robes, etc... Around Evelyn, the "You're family" from Luz is almost ironic. Since she kinda is the adopted daughter of Eda, and Eda probably is one of the descendent of Evelyn and Caleb, probably.
also what makes it so that Flapjack can help save Hunter is that to make a Grimwalker includes Palisamwood ,

Caleb already bonded with Flapjack 400 years ago, and Flapjack tracked down Hunter immediately after meeting him; after being reunited with Caleb. Flapjack wasn’t Evelyn’s palisman, she made Flapjack for Caleb. That’s why Belos hates Flapjack, because to him, Flapjack is an emblem of Evelyn’s “corruption” that “forced” Belos to kill his older brother.
Did you guys notice that Hunter’s eye color changed after Flapjack sacrificed himself for him? They changed from the violet color to Flapjack’s eye color 😭

It was only implied in the series, but Dana confirmed that Caleb and Evelyn are Eda's ancestors. Which means Eda is related to Belos and technically Hunter too.

It isn't really shown, because, y'know, kids show, but I am fairly certain that when Belos jumped into the water after the Titans Blood, Hunter deliberatly swallowed water. He is doing everything to keep Belos from the Blood, even if it means sacrificing his own Life. And in my opinion, he did. That is why Belos left his body, because it isn't useful anymore. I don't think Belos was posessing the corpses of Animals, I think he was possesing _living_ Animals who died as a result of his posession. Once the possesed Body is dead, it isn't usable anymore. So in my opinion, Hunter died and only Flpajacks sacrifice brought him back. (Note also that hunters eye color changes afterwards)
That scene has always seemed weird to me, this makes complete sense! And yes, it seems like Belos's possession rots away living tissue, which explains why the "goop" caused Hunter to scar so badly.
Yeah, it's easy to tell there was a cut made in the scene. I'm guessing the studio censors were like, 'You cannot show a kid explicitly suicide-drowning themselves!' Probably a crucial 15 seconds were cut to make it much less clear and get away with it...

I'm pretty sure that it was just bad instincts from living in a world where all the water is boiling. He tried to jump in because the water should have been deadly. He might not have even understood the concept of drowning.
Okay as a Spanish speaker I have to say something.
Vee's Spanish is amazing, really. For non Spanish speakers I'm going to say this.
She is saying a tongue twister. Not the hardest, but still really good.
I know she was living with Camilla for months, but that still amazing
I think the character learning Spanish is not impressive I'm quite shocked you give vee the credit by saying the reason is she is living with camilla. What impressive impressive is Michaela Dietz her voice actress she's Korean but she mainly speaks English. I think she just learned Spanish just for vee, mabye she knows how to speak way before but when you said it was not perfect I doubt a little. That's the ture credit that people should give her. I may not have been a fan of steven universe but the show introduced me to her. She has one of most flexible voices on animated media. The ability to fit many different characters without changing the style of her voice and the range of emotions is very impressive.
I have a feeling that basilisks has a knack for stuff like that to blend in easier.

Let's put an example like an action movie.
Imagine you are seeing a scene where the main character is training. Is a heck of a train. There's tears, blood and sweat.
You know that in most cases the actor would just do a couple of exercise.
Is an amazing and complicated job ? Yes it is. But you are thinking that the one training is the character, not the actor.
Is a similar situation, should I have gave the credit to the voice actress? Yes, I could have given it to her.
@@thefirstone4864well as a native Mexican Spanish speaker I’m really glad that they show some characters that they actually speak Spanish. And not just some random Spanglish words that they always do in American shows. Like the excuse it’s that the kids grew up in the states and never learn Spanish because e the parents are too lazy to speak to them and find content in Spanish to practice.
When actually now days it’s much easier to find content. Dualingo was good example in this episode, but now there is TH-cam and any tv streaming service has multiple languages options. This is very thoughtful of the owl house team. They say Spanish speaking as something to be appreciated and not just some language barrier. 😄
@@thefirstone4864 why are you shocked they gave Vee credit for learning Spanish? thats literally what happened. we werent talking about the voice actor, and, yeah, she should get credit too, but we're talking about the character. its impressive that she was able to speak so well. yes, she did spend a lot more time on earth with Camila which definitely helped. what i think is that she was forced to quickly learn at least the basics of spanish to be able to take Luz's place and not raise suspicion. i'm sure Vee being a shape-shifting basilisk somehow helped with quickly learning speech and behavioral patterns as well as the language itself

Gravity Falls was My childhood. I watched the very first episode the day it aired and the very last episode the day it aired
I'm so excited for both of you. The journey you're about to go on with _Gravity Falls_ is going to be wild in the best way.
A few recommendations, if your other fans haven't already mentioned them:
1. It may feel like an episodic, adventure of the week series at first, but give it time. Everything (and I do mean everything) ends up playing a huge role.
2. Mysteries and conspiracies. It's a huge part of every episode. There's hidden details in frames of animation, clues to solving the ciphers for each episode, and audio that contains hidden messages when played backwards. Unless you consult the wiki for all the answers, you'll need to pay close attention to everything.
3. There's several mini-episodes between season 1 and 2 that serve as shorter misadventures of Dipper and Mabel. They're fantastic on their own right and have a very intriguing clue about a major plot point in season 2 when watched together. I recommend watching those as well.
4. After you're done, do yourselves a favor and start _Amphibia_ next.

Even though I like the season 3 we got, I will never stop mourning the season 3 we could have had. All of the moments in the montages and pictures shown in this episode could have been an episode for itself, but the cancellation forced the crew to work with what little time they had and squeeze the entire ending into what is basically six episodes. I'm glad the crew at least used that time as best as they could. The fact that we even got a finale with the surge of cancellations of queer content is honestly a miracle, and the fact that it's a pretty great one is even more of a miracle.
I'm going to stop you there. If the show hasn't canceled. We would have way different scenarios, the collector wouldn't even exist and probably we wouldn't even see the characters being on earth. And even if we get the full season there's no guarantee this would be better than what we have right now somthing even Dana said that it opens new opportunities. Just look at amphibia it is designed to be 3 full seasons but 70% of season 3 is just boring adventures with no goal. The confidence that you are sure what full season you could have when it's objectively incorrect.

20:16 You didn't seem to get the joke, but this was a callback to the first episode of the show where Eda mentions that giraffes actually came from the Demon Realm, but were banished to the Earth for being "a bunch of freaks".
Also, Gus's goal in Hunting Palisman was to reestablish communications with the giraffes, so... congrats to him, I guess?

Super cool that you realized that Gus knows Hunter's secret! A lot of people missed that little detail.
A thing that I only really figured out on rewatch was the timeline of Belos's possession of Hunter. In the scene with the goop on the floor, Hunter pokes at it with his injured finger. Immediately after that, he sees something behind him that makes him think Belos has returned. We see later in the episode, though, that Belos can make Hunter see hallucinations to control him. So, the goop on the floor that Hunter poked actually was Belos, and at that moment he entered Hunter's cut, and it was aready too late. For the rest of the episode, Hunter is seeing things while Belos gathers power within hus body.
I didn't see anyone say this but, the beginning words for all three of the Season 3 episode titles spell out "Thanks For Watching"
The reason Belos wanted to kill Flapjack is never fully explained in-story explicitly, but all the hints and clues have already been revealed. Belos hates Flapjack. You saw in the haunted hay ride that Evelyn’s magic was represented by Flapjack. That wasn’t an Easter egg; that was Flapjack. Evelyn Clawthorne, Eda’s ancestor, fell in love with Caleb Wittebane and created Flapjack for him. Flapjack was Caleb’s palisman.
That’s why Hunter didn’t need to reveal his desire to Flapjack in order for them to bond; they already bonded 400 years ago as far as Flapjack was concerned, because to him, Hunter is Caleb. That’s why Flapjack tracked Hunter down himself. To Belos, Flapjack is an emblem of the “corruption of the soul” that lured Caleb away from the witch-hunter’s path, the excuse Belos uses for why he killed his older brother. That’s why he screamed, “Caleb!” in rage when he saw Flapjack on Hunter’s shoulder.
What’s more, in the portraits in Belos’ mind palace, you see one portrait of Evelyn, pregnant. She had Caleb’s child, and Eda is a descendant of Caleb too. On some distant level, Eda and Hunter are related. Eda’s father said the Clawthorne family is famous as palisman carvers, and his own palisman is a yellow version of Flapjack, Caleb’s palisman made by Evelyn. The vial of titan’s blood had a Hooty-like cap on it. The portal that Eda found was buried in the Clawthorne household grounds. Evelyn was an expert at crossing between the human and demon realms. Hunter being saved by Flapjack worked because Hunter is technically part palisman; as a Grimwalker, his keratin is made of palistrom wood, as shown in Belos’ recipe book. Hunter never knew the name Caleb originally; Flapjack whispered it to him when he was looking for an alias.
I think that’s all the hidden lore covered. I wish we could have had a full flashback arc to the history of the Clawthorne family, and what happened between Evelyn, Belos, Caleb and Flapjack. Rest in peace, little buddy.
Omg. I’m glad you wrote this. I didn’t even see the Evelyn pregnancy flashback nor connected Eda to them. I would have loved a full flashback or a book over Evelyn, Caleb, Phillip, and Flapjack.
I don't know why so many people missed the fact that Hunter bonded with Flapjack by revealing his desire to choose his own path and study wild magic during his talk with Luz in "Hunting Palismen". As far as Flapjack is concerned, Hunter and Caleb are complete strangers who just happen to look similar.

Yeah, this one is an emotional one. i Literally cried tears of joy and sadness. That's like, never happened before in such a short amount of time with me 😅
I love what they did with this episode. The amount of character development and growth we get to see. I also love the fact that we get to see more of clumsy Amity in this episode.
Also, Hunter is me when he shows off the wolf shirt he made: "They're mystical creatures called WOLVES." *sparkly eyes*
The fact that you can see Camilla has been saving up and clipping coupons also shows how much thought she's putting into trying to make all the children comfortable. She's taking notes, listening to the kids, and trying to find every way to save money while also reading books and trying to do research to be as supportive as possible to all her children(biological and more 'adopted') and I absolutely love it.
I love that Masha(the person who's working at the desk at the historical building) has their nails painted nonbinary colors. I actually did the same thing for a few weeks after watching this episode and really loved it. Something I plan to do again in the future! I also somehow missed this during my first watch, but Masha's nameplate on their desk even says MASHA(THEY/THEM).
Every time, this episode leaves me in tears. I love it but it hits me so hard.

The reason why hunter was able to be revived by flapjack, is because palistrom wood is an ingredient to make a grimwalker, the reason i know that is because at the beginning of one of the episodes ( I don't remember which one) you can see the ingredients of a grimwalker.
And here I was thinking Hunter already had to many scars 🤕and they are still noting compared to his emotional scars 😭
After seeing how accepting Camila was about Luz's magical friends AND Luz's coming out moment, I OFFICIALLY took back ALL the bad things I said about her
he's crying because she said he's a Noceda now. it hit him hard to be part of a family he doesn't have to prove himself in.
Way back, Luz promised her mom she'd stay once she returned home and now her mom realizes that that was a terrible thing to make her promise.
After Flapjack's sacrifice, you can see Hunter's eyes are now brown. Not only is this to represent the powers of flapjack within him now, but it also represents that he's not just a grimwalker now
5:35 - You can still hear Elijah's joyous gay pterodactyl screeching over Luz's coming out video.
5:57 - Take note of the shooting star on Willow's sports shirt. You may find something familiar as you begin watching _Gravity Falls_ (along with the pine tree on the shirt of Kenny's character in the intro).
9:54 - Fun fact: there was potentially going to be an episode sometime in season two or three that would explore the origins of Hooty and explain what his potential purpose may have been in the past before meeting Eda. That, unfortunately, had to be scrapped due to the cancellation, so now we just have these gags and other elements that only add further speculation behind the eldritch bird-tube's history and true nature.

I love and appreciate just how delightfully dominican the Noceda household is. From the dominican flag to the little decorations on the walls, and those colorful, faceless figurines that are so iconic here. Camila's tubi when she sleeps and even a güira in the basement. Just a little extra knowledge. Since season 3 was cut short they ended up using a bunch of episode ideas to craft that intro sequence.

Caleb had long hair, Hunter probably just kept his trimmed.
But it grows super fast to get to Caleb’s hair length
So that’s why it was so long even tho they hadn’t been there long enough for it to get to that length

I was so sad and feeling down when this episode first come out, I can't even watch people reaction to it until a couple of days later its just too heartbreaking
It's great how Amity quotes Luz and tells her the same thing that she told her when she asked her to be her girlfriend before entering the portal, it's so adorable 💕 they are incredible details, just like giraffes, reminding us that they are demons and were banished long ago 😹

Although, not so fun, but kinda cool fact: this episode, and the first episode of Chainsaw Man, came out the same week. The Denji/Pochita and Hunter/Flapjack similarities CANNOT be a coincidence.
While it's not actually confirmed, I remember that in streams Dana was hinting that the abandonded house could have been Phillip and Calebs old house.

17:22 camila’s dream always gets on my feelings. as someone who is autistic+ADHD, and dana confirmed that luz is neurodivergent (most likely autistic+ADHD), it hits so hard the “reality check camp” thing. luz’s “weird kid” arc has been a really good representation for neurodivergent people to say that is okay to be different, weird, and that you don’t have to fit into any box, your loved ones will love you for who you are and you just have to be you. i love how supportive camila has always been, she was just scared that her daughter would end up suffering like she did (which makes me think camila might also be neurodivergent), she is such a great mum and luz is so lucky to have her by her side

When I first saw Luz’s video diaries of when she was a kid, and how she was going through her dad being sick and then passing away and the book he left her… I absolutely cried with such empathy. I mean it is touched my heart, knowing that he left that Good Witch Azura book for her before he passed. I thought that was very heartfelt.
And then, when Belos possessed Hunter… My body was literally shaking with fear and anxiety. I mean, it felt like a horror movie version, and if I was Luz, I would’ve been terrified too.

I doubt that Belos had a specific goal in harming Flapjack - he was just destroying the last living direct link to Caleb. Belos hates wild magic (magic in general, really), he's never needed a reason to destroy it. He's a fanatic and he thinks it's evil.
And I think Luz not wanting to go back is two things - first off, she doesn't think she's actually been helping when she has tried to help. She's convinced herself that all of her efforts do nothing but hurt the people around her.
Secondly, she's a teen and is carrying a huge load of guilt. She's punishing herself. Cutting herself off from Amity is the single most awful thing she can do to herself.
That's my take, anyway.

Based on the intro, lots of people assume that this special is a condensed version of what would've made up 10-12 episodes of Season 3. During Post-Hoot, an aftershow livestream done via Instagram, Dana Terrace creator of The Owl House debunked this theory.
According to Dana, she originally had a very different endgame planned for the show but when Season 3 was shortened there wasn't enough time to do it. People such as Roundtable have often speculated that this would've involved diving deeper into the lore behind the Collector, which is only briefly touched on in the subsequent episodes.
The most apt comparison would be the series Dragon Prince, which wrapped up several key plotlines in the third season just in case the series was prematurely cancelled. Fortunately, the show was renewed for more seasons allowing the crew to delve into stuff they thought there wouldn't be time for - specifically the Mystery of Avaros.

This is my favourite episode of the whole show, and in my opinion, the best episode.
Of all the cute pop/internet culture references this show makes, "3 Wolf Moon," was always the most surprising to me.
OH MY GOODNESS YES YES!! I just found y'alls channel a couple days ago and binge watched your Owl House reactions- and I love your reactions you guys just got another subscriber, also you both are not ready for the next two episodes it just keeps getting even more traumatic and crazy! Dude when I saw that Flapjack died I legit was speechless but also had a lot to say and I was tearing up it was just WOW they really didn't need to kill off Flapjack I mean I guess they did but they didn't, poor Hunter, poor Luz, just I feel bad for all of them- this show really knows how to pull on your heartstrings! Also I just got to say Vee and Masha are actually very cute- I wish they showed them a bit more and maybe Vee even showing Masha what she is and what not, anyways I can't wait for you guys to check out more of The Owl House, I can't wait for more Content from you guys and I hope that you both are doing well and staying safe and healthy!

It sucks so much that this show was canceled. There was so much that could have been expanded on and explored.
But at the same time, we, as fans, can now theorize and make up stuff that happens much easier because of how short the run time was.

Honestly, I'm glad they're going with Gravity Falls. I LOVE Amphibia but it'd be a smoother transition to go from TOH to GF. Still hoping that they do Amphibia at one point though. I'm interested to know how they'd react to it.

At this point, Luz isn't just at her lowest point in her hero's journey. From all the mounting trauma, loss, and despair she and the rest of her friends have experienced she's started to view herself as the villain in her own story. Any semblance of happiness and comfort amongst her friends is, arguably, part of an act she puts on. From the start of the series, Luz has been a people pleaser that's willing to go to overexaggerated lengths to connect with others and fix any problems she creates (whether she thinks she is the source of them or not).
Now here she is, stuck in the human realm with her friends after witnessing a childish, reality-warping demigod take control of the Boiling Isles and subject everyone there she cares about to an unknown fate. And, in her mind, it was born from her own character flaw of going to great lengths to support and please others and seeing those consequences spiral far beyond her capacity to fix the crises.
Perhaps worst of all for her is that nobody is giving her the blame she believes she deserves. Not her friends, not Amity, not even her own mother. They're acting as amazing pillars of love and support for her, but she can't properly embrace it because of how fixated she is on the notion she is the inciting source for all this pain she's brought upon the world she thought she belonged in. Luz entered the Demon Realm believing she could be a hero for the inhabitants in need and was ejected from it as it descended into miserable chaos for everyone. She did everything she could to be like Azura and instead felt like Villainous Lucy for the pain her involvement continues to inflict.
This episode was special for me since it came out on my birthday of October 15th, truly special for me
