    Well done on the de-watering, I like your no tools approach. 👍

    Just watched a Chris Burch video and he seems to suggest not using the front wheel whilst crossing creeks in order to keep the air inlet dry. Instead, he just keeps his front wheel dry and up out of the way preferring to only use the rear wheel. Thought this advice may help your mate avoid any further drownings. 😂
    Seriously but, thanks for the wisdom sharing. It’s awesome and respected.✊🤪

    Little tip for next time, you can blow the water out of the filter with the exhaust once you resuscitate the bike ;-)

    Will remember that little gem

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but the process should be:
    1. Drain the water pooling the intake by "wheelie-ing" the bike.
    2. Put the bike in gear without starting the engine. Then rotate the rear wheel. This in turn will crank the piston, helping to push the water out of it.
    3. Back to neutral then try to start the bike.
    4. Profit???
    Also, incase you are alone and this happened to you. Rather than getting stuck out of nowhere, turn the bike over. Like whole-handlebar-on-the-ground over. Then do this process. Also, CHANGE YOUR OIL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

      Whatever the technique, you want the water out of the engine via the intake and/or exhaust. Turning the wheel backwards, in gear, reverses the compression stroke and opens the valves so you can get the water out. Beats trying to pull sparks plugs on some bikes. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers.

      @@malsadventuresoz Thank you very much for sharing this! This should be a common knowledge to those who are riding the unknowns.

    Great tips. Were you all on 690’s?

      I was on my 890 on this ride, and Greg was on his 625 I think. The other boys were on 690's

    One to know is when sitting up the key needs to be on to open the throttle and let the water back (before thinking about hitting the button)
    I have seen a 701 started while vertical. Don’t do this, there is no oil pick up and destruction awaits.
    Spot on for third gear and kicking it back gently. Good coaching.

    Was going backwards on the dewatering the important thing to remember?

    • @malsadventuresoz
      @malsadventuresoz  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's the first one I've had hydrolocked like that. Usually by getting it up on its end is enough to get the water out of the intake, engine and exhaust. But yeah, turning the engine backwards might save you from having to remove spark plugs. Cheers.

    I have watched about 10 videos lately that are all this same theme. I have a question ; Doesn’t ANYONE carry a spark plug wrench anymore ?

    • @malsadventuresoz
      @malsadventuresoz  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Chris-i3p yes, but you'd be there a lot longer messing around removing a 690 plug. Although that would probably be the only option if you were by yourself. Cheers.

      @@malsadventuresoz The ONLY way to be sure that all the water is out is to have it come out of the plug hole.

    Wonder if you need a top end rebuild after drowning it

    • @malsadventuresoz
      @malsadventuresoz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn't expect so. I'd just do an oil change ASAP and I'd think you should be fine. I guess you could do a lot of damage if you revved it as you ingested a lot of water?

    As a solo 690-rider I just realized that I’m never going to drown my bike.. 🫣
