    All you people that talk down about MB let me tell you something. I am in my 70's now and have worked on cars my whole life under the shade tree. I have owned a couple of mercedes and can tell you that these are fine vehicles with German engineering. I presently own the GLS450 4matic and love it. Just pay for the after market service warranty and you will be fine. I can not work on vehicles due to several health problems so after market warranty is a good deal to me. If properly maintained they will last a very long time with no problems. This current MB will last me until my end time. They really are luxury vehicles with lots of fun driving power, which is what I want.

    Purchased a CPO 2018 C Class Cabriolet last year as a weekend cruiser. Currently still under warranty and 37,000 miles. Spent months researching trims and options as well as the AMG versions and the CLA. Was worth the wait. The W205 is full of options so buyer needs to do research imo to confirm they get exactly what they want. Also the 2019 refresh added digital dash and a few other changes, worth noting for ppl in the market for a W205. Personally I wouldn’t buy before 2018 unless you are looking for an AMG version.
    As far as the non-touch screen, I love it. Wanted a convertible to be involved in the environment and driving experience, not the tech. I don’t think the 2019+ is touch screen either FWIW.
    My best mpg is 32.7 using 93 octane and driving like miss daisy lol. However most of my time is in Sport mode.
    The W205 is the great last ‘low-tech’ C Class as the W206 has gone all-in with the large screens, digital dash, and ambient light. Great overview and you have a beautiful couple as the model.
    Once last thing, I recommend having the auxiliary battery checked and if the vehicle you are looking is under warranty, have it replaced. This is the only issue I’ve had and noticed it via message on the dash. Was easily identified and replaced under warranty.

    Pretty happy with the car - I normally run this at the weekend as I use my 2017 Mini JCW daily.

    if you want to transform your C class, get rid of those POS Continental run-flats and put on Michelin PS4s (non-RF) I did that with my wagon and the car is quieter less harshness over bumps and way better performance. Also oversize the rears to 255/40-18 as that is the actual diameter of the fronts (the stock 245/40-18 is actually 1/3" smaller than the front tires 225/45 -18). Also that shifter will not switch when at speed, so no worries...I tried to switch it to reverse on the highway by accident as I was used to my partners Golf and needed the wipers -nothing happened

    • @ECPP
      @ECPP  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome thanks for the advice and I agree on the wheels. I was thinking wider wheels or spacers to bring them close to flush and then throw the small amg style wing on the trunk.

    • @YYZ-SRQ
      @YYZ-SRQ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ECPP not sure why MB does the 225 / 245 split on 18's but does the 225 /255 for the 19's. BMW does the proper 225 / 255 splits on all of their 3 series. Asked in the forum and people at MB and no one can answer the reason why they undersize the rears on staggered sizes for the 18's. Anyhow the 255/40 18 fit great on the rear (I have a 2019) fills out the wheel arches a bit better and comes more flush with the side of the car in the rear, the diameters are exact @ 26" (the diameter of the 245 is 25.7 and does an extra 8 revs per mile more). These are based on the online tire calculator called tiresize dot com and select calculator and select compare tire sizes. My wagon has 17,000 km half of which on snows and could not stand the ProContact GX SSR so sold them on Kijiji for $900 and used that toward the PS4s @ $1609. Be careful of RF tires, sidewalls too stiff and potholes will crack a rim, also if you get a flat it cannot be repaired so you could be in for replacing all 4 tires if the others are warn because the AWD systems don't take kindly to variations on tire depth. Also RF wear out quicker than non RF. One other thing the 2019 and later had a different engine giving you an extra 14hp which feels a bit more spirited and seems that 2015-18 have issues on piston 1 on M274 engines, 2019-21 have M264 engines and does not have this problem.

    No offense, because I think you’re a great guy, well spoken, with a great channel, and extremely knowledgeable. But I am putting two and two together and realizing you may just be a Mercedes fanboy (nothing wrong with that). Not that I don’t like Mercs (because I do very much), but you’re always putting down BMW, Audi, etc. But in reality from my experience (here in California) with all four major premium brand German makers, I see more Mercs in the shops than I do Bimmers, Audi’s and especially Porsche. BMW only uses M badging “loosely” inside the cabins when there is a base model “M trim package”. When you see M badging in front of a model number on the trunk lid, it is a true “M Technic” (M Performance) model (example M240i or M550i, etc). Those “M Technic” models are absolutely full M-cars in every way with slightly tuned down engine power specs of a full M-car. This is why they’re referred to as “M-lite”. Anyway, still love your channel and you do have a beautiful Merc.

      I’m not getting fanboy vibes as much as burned hardcore by his previous BMW vibes. I know a few BMW owners that had massive problems with both Audi and BMW who’ve moved onto Mercedes and experienced better reliability. He also gives Lexus major props in most of his videos as well.

      Big difference between seeing and actually knowing for sure. You would need to own/work in a shop and see hundreds of car from each brand to do an objective comparison. Anything else is just a subjective point of view, just like everyone who "ranks" these brands has.

      @@sivu22 I’ve heard mechanics bash both brands heavily, so I don’t even think you can go by that either. And all these JD power ranks are just pay for rankings BS. All you got to go on is subjective experience and number of NHTSA recalls.

      @@sivu22 I have owned one Audi, multiple BMWs and a handful of Mercs. I have never experienced the dramatic issues with any of my Bimmers, that he constantly purports. Not saying that he hasn’t had those experiences, but it seems the experiences always come from cars that had crappy previous ownership from people that didn’t properly maintain the vehicles. At that point you have to put most of the blame on the previous ownership, and not bash reputation of the engine or auto-maker. Also, I run one of the more predominant German automobile clubs here in Southern California, and many members are luxury brand mechanics, many who own their own shops here in Southern California, so I’m not just talking out of the side of my neck, but I am relaying actual correct information from my experiences and from the mouths of bona fide mechanics.

      @@TONEScott that's true that previous ownership is a big factor in how reliable the vehicle is. I also owned multiple cars from the 3 German brands, but I couldn't say which is better - because it would be biased. Besides, there are so many engines and generations and screw-ups, it would be impossible to generalize on a brand level.
      The latest B engine series from BMW are really good. On the other hand, my B48 had to be towed to the local BMW dealer because it lost all water while driving, after only 6 years and 102k km. Some plastic part broke because that's BMW for you - plastic crap under the hood. BTW the previous (first) owner and I did all maintenance at BMW, so yeah.
      I will not even mention my N55 experience. Personally I still recommend the engines and BMW as a great car for driving, but the truth is they were and will be money pits.
