    JVC HR-3300U VIDSTAR made by JVC for USA market in 1977.
    The original (released in 1976)was called JVC HR-3300 in Japan market.

    Well the RCA VBT 200 was actually the first VHS VCR in the US, In Europe and Japan this one was the first tho!

    The drop-out spot in the middle of the picture shows that your head switching occurs in the middle of the picture - not fully working after-all :-) it should be just before the end of the picture

      A mistiming of the video head switchpoint wouldn't manifest itself as an intermittent single line dropout in the middle of the picture.
      This appears to be either a tape path issue or possibly even a problem with the tape itself.

      Head switching normally occurs 6-8 horizontal lines before vertical sync. I don't think that's the head switching point in the middle of the frame. Hard to see...

      @@crashbandicoot4everr It might not be but it certainly looks like it, and yes normally that's supposed to happen 6.5 lines before Vsync thats why it would be a fault :P
