Frankie Beverly trended a while back as being the epitome of what in the U.S. is called "black famous"...somebody who is hugely famous among African Americans, yet remains virtually unknown to the greater mainstream ("white") public. When people ask me about the best concerts I've ever been to, I always acknowledge Frankie Beverly and Maze as being among the very best shows I've ever seen. There was absolutely nothing fancy about the show: no costumes, no choreography, no special effects. It was just real musicians, with real instruments, playing some amazing songs, led by an unassuming guy in a t-shirt and a baseball cap, with the voice of an angel.
@David Welland true but to be fair, it comes down to finances and accessibility. FB and Maze has a huge black audience. He is just one of those artists that grabs u no matter your ethnicity
I love this song. I attended 3 of Frankie Beverly and Maze's live shows in the late '70s and '80s and their live shows were a true experience that I'll never forget.
If you like their music you should listen to their albums. We are on and cant get over you are two of many incredible songs by them. The most underrated soul group ever.
