BMT Song

- A song about BMT in a nut shell. BMT stands for basic military training
This video is dedicated to my 2nd batch of awesome recruits.
As a Tekong sergeant, taking care of the discipline, welfare, knowledge, skills, fitness and personal issues of sixty odd recruits in a platoon is both mentally and physically demanding. There were times when I just wished that the recruits could POP earlier. But with every passing batch, whenever the thundering "one check one" echoes across the Floating Platform, and whenever I see them so jubilantly cry out "POP LOH" while thousands of jockey caps soar into the morning sky...I couldn't help but feel a powerful emotion cantering through my whole body.
This emotion is complicated. It is the feeling of happiness because I finally got to see them conquer all of the challenges that we had set for them. It is also the sense of pride because I knew that I have played a part in making them grow into a better man for our homeland, his loved ones and himself. At the same time, it is the feeling of reluctance because I suddenly realized how difficult it was to say goodbye.
To me, being a good Tekong sergent is NOT about how well you can teach the recruits, be it instilling discipline or imparting knowledge and skills. Instead, It is about how well you can learn from the recruits...it is about how much you are willing to constantly look for imperfections in your leadership by reflecting upon the reactions and performances of those whom you are leading. Through my recruits, I have learnt empathy, composure, efficiency, confidence and many skills which I never knew I will ever have.
To my 04/12 batch of POP-ed recruits from BMTC Ulysses company, I am NOT going to wish you "a smooth sailing journey in your new NS life ahead" because a smooth ride is boring and you can gain nothing out of it. I wish that you will find a rocky road with many junctions that can push you to new mental and physical limits. NS is a waste of time...yes it is...but it is only a waste of time because people choose to believe and act that way. I am not here to promote National Service. I am here to let you know that opportunies for you to learn and grow are everywhere, even in what some might deem as a waste of time, or from people whom you least expect to learn anything useful.
We are Ulysses, AH WOO! - ภาพยนตร์และแอนิเมชัน
When I first watched this, I was a civilian whom haven't serve and knew nothing, here to learn and prepare myself.
The second time I watched this, I was a recruit, trying to relate to this and can't wait to POP.
When I watched this the third time, I was spending the remaining 3/4 of my service in Guards unit, can't wait to ORD.
Finally, I'm watching this as a civilian, again. No matter what status I watch this in, cocktail of memories and feelings always flood in like rain to shellscrape
I just want to say time flies. So enjoy and make good use of your time, even during the darkest days during the service.. it will really gone by in a blink of an eye.. also, your army friends will surely be your best pals for live. Trust me haha
im not in ns but i am in ncc

NS is a bittersweet moment for all Singaporean men... Dread going through it but when it's all over, on hindsight, it is one of the most unforgettable moments of our lives.
This is the earliest TH-cam video that I've watched, as far as I can remember. Almost a decade passed I had the sudden urge to watch it again, so searched "Singaporean army troll song" and this came out...the nostalgia, aiyo aiyo ai aiyo ah
Proud of all the boys who served! Thank you for your service!! ❤️🌈🇸🇬🙏🏻
The memories that this song brings back how i miss the old times
I still remember 2 rs of NS life .. serving SCDF as a firefighter .. 2012 - 2014 .. miss those tyme :)
This video taught me how to pronounce "Ulysses"
David Woodside HHAAHHA
I thoug it was “U-lie-sis”
Ludwig Van Beethoven lol
Me in U coy now : |
I Thought It Was Useless
I found it after 10 years this song has a special place in my heart

That’s all. I hope you learnt a thing or two!
i still remember when i going to enlist to NS i watched this video and i felt sad.. But now i ORDed for 1 year alr. To be honest, I love bmt but i hate my unit. They abuse their power too much.. Those enlisting NS stay strong. The sun will shine at you again..
It is not abt abusing power or playing rank. The whole tekan culture is to put you under pressure and emotional stress to prep u in case of war. When u kena captured by enemy, they wont be nice.
@@johnwig285 I’m fine w tekan but treating you like dogs and slaves are what I meant. Aiyo you won’t understand..
Such a great song! In our country Malaysia we also have a national service program called "Khidmat Negara". It's a three months programme but I didn't get selected, I was damn admire while my friends who went there and share their experiences.
You guys have this thing called Wataniah so u can join and train during weekends. That's why your Khidmat Negara is abolished, due to redundancy. Anyone interested can join PELAPES/Wataniah. Idk the details coz im nt from Malaysia.
negara heheh
Even in uniform group the most common words we hear are SEMULA, WALK SOME MORE, and FASTER!!!! Sounds like NS
u what UG?
Be glad you don't have to hear the other BMT favorite phrase, "You all don't want to book out, riiiight?"
Haha rlly?
Dylan Chew I'm a girl kenna Idk why I still go for NPCC
So true i ncc everytime only here that

2:57 I'm still a pre-enlistee, but I still cried at this scene. I could imagine myself sitting in the mud, and if I were to read this letter from my parents I'll cry
same
just wanna wait till book out then go hug them for entire day
10 yrs already, but I remember watching it when it was only 4 yrs or less
When you go BMT your mindset must always be "Have Fun, Endure, I CAN DO IT and Stay Strong"
Check out my new song guys! A song about our tiny island this time!

+Tiny Red Dot bro care to give me the lyrics for bmt song?

On the 30th October
Go BMTC be soldier
Waving goodbye to my girl
Now it’s time for me to serve
IC changed from pink to green
No. 4 replaced my jeans
No Leticia to keep things clean,
Ownself must do everything ya
Aiyo, aiyo, ai aiyo aiyo, aiyo, ai aiyo
One guy late whole lot knock it down,
Anything also push the ground,
In a file if you move around
jumping jacks unlimited counts
Chiong sua till I want to keng
Sunburn till I chao da skin
Half-full bottle drink and drink
Drink till whole day go latrine ya
Aiyo, aiyo, ai aiyo aiyo, aiyo, ai aiyo
Up the low rope over the wall
Apex ladder down I fall
Pick myself up and chiong somemore
SOC just shag my balls
Every night OTOT
Still couldn’t pass IPPT
Stay back in camp to RT
Weekend kena burnt like free ya
Aiyo, aiyo, ai aiyo aiyo, aiyo, ai aiyo
During field camp build basha
Build too slow tio semula
Sergeants became Godzilla
Kena tekan in the mud
Dig and dig with ET blade
Dig a lobang called shellscrape
Dig till my arms nearly break
Dig till my buddy hyperventilate ya
Aiyo, aiyo, ai aiyo aiyo, aiyo, ai aiyo
Sergeant gave me an envelope
Inside it there was a note
Mama said, “Ah Boy, stay strong!”
Daddy said, “Ah Boy, fight on!”
In the middle of the night
Feeling homesick want to cry
How I wish my boots were dry
Guarding my “wife” with my life ya
Aiyo, aiyo, ai aiyo aiyo, aiyo, ai aiyo
In the blink of an eye
So many weeks have gone by
Marching with friends by my side
Couldn’t bear to say goodbye
Woohoo…hooooooooooooooooo
Eh ya oh ah infantry ah
We are the men from Ulysses
You can list the ones which you don't understand :)
***** Ching sua = charging ahead
Keng = trying to avoid unpleasant tasks by pretending to be weak/ill
So as a whole it means that in army I got to be on my toes and do so many hard missions till I feel like feinting illness
+Tiny Red Dot
Hello there, great effort you did for this song :D!
If you don't mind, could you send me the original audio for personal use?
Reasons: i just want to listen to it while commuting to school :3.
3:17 I listen to this song also want to cry Liao .
So touching
10 years later and this still is fire
So funny! Also very inspiring what you wrote above! Moving indeed.
Watching this before leaving for final route march to POP. Damn all the feels
This song is incredible and funny! Beautiful!
thanks for bringing the memories back
first the song is sad but the ending is happy
Miss the good times in ulysses.04/12 thanks for this awesome song.
Used to listen to this since I was in primary school. Now, I am in the 02/24 BMT batch of mono 3sir support. As I write this comment, it is the day of my route march. What a journey it has been. I am curious what awaits me.
This song brings back memories because my company played this song during one lecture ( I think it was our introduction) and the best part is that im from ULYSSES!!!! " Ah boy stay strong" was the phrase that kept me going through the hardest and darkest days and nights. Ulysses Platoon 4 Section 3, Highest floor, We Wont Fall!! 5 stories high, limits we defy !
This will never happen to me 0:27 "Waving goodbye to my girl" at all when i am in army
But did it?
Did it?
Wah.. I'm only 12 and yet i'm scared to go NS, hopefully in the future not too tough lah. I already scared. Haiyah.
UPDATE : 10th Sep 2023
I’m already in NS & I can’t wait to ORD. BMT was a piece of cake because I ended up being PES C9. Thanks for checking up on me guys 😂
Hello. I hope this would cheer you up but Ns would be 'fun' and you do not need to be scared.
+Jc Tube But first part of NS will be hard right? Like Basic Military Training (BMT)?
Joe Miyori It will because you are not used to it, and that's why you need to adapt, but after a while, you will get used to it.
Ah boy you still small ..
+NoodlesPoodle I know i'm still small (Not physically) but 8 years is a very short amount of time. I need to stop being lazy and go to the gym. I'm good in weights and everything but I cannot jog more then 1.6 km as i'm not that fit.
Enlisted December 2011, ORD December 2013, ROD 2022 time really fly... i miss being happy.. please enjoy every moment you have...
I am so happy to listen to this song so much guys and thank you so much it's the best song I ever heard

Still rewatching this in 2012, its been 8 solid years, 04/12 Ulysses Hooyah!
Amazing song dude
:)
I missed NS!
It's the place where you get to see the very rich, the very poor, sabo Kings, blur King, chao keng, kek kiang, howlian, and many more.
It's also where I found very good friends, because you shower together, eat together and shit together.
Know the person inside out.
Go happy hours,fight with each other etc;
If I could turn back the clock.........
That's one more subscriber for the fantastic use of rage comic faces!
During my time we served 2 years plus 6 months, nowadays NS is so relax.
Aiyo aiyo ai ai yo...wah..very good song
Aww so sweet! They're so lucky to have such an awesome sergeant like you
You know, this was one of the first youtube videos i actually watched, this is very nostaligic (even though i didn't understand this at the time, i was 5)
Same sia

Oh My God i love this song soo much!❤❤❤❤💜💜💜💜💜
The 2 years I spent in NS is the best years in my life, the only time I could eat 3 proper meals a day, the only time someone spoke and listened to me, the only time I felt belonged and proud.
Thank you NS
Wish I could redo NS again
Now after my ORD my life is in a total mess again :'(

are you serious? are you really that poor that you can't even afford the life outside army. and are you really such an outcast that you can't even find any true friend outside? wow. you're messed up...
+looneytuneeeeeeee123 wtf is wrong with you?Seriously....There's is nothing wrong if you're poor..some people could not get friends...either bullied or too shy to talk..
