Swim form is when your ink/octoling turns into a squid/octopus.
I recommend trying this challenge out for yourself, it's really fun :)

Fun fact, if you beat Ink Conservatively or whatever that limited ink level is called- without firing a SINGLE shot, you get a special message and it gives you something like 40 extra power eggs.
somebody else commented something about this a while back, and I thought it was a really neat secret
@@Ansel_G Yeah, I thought it was cool- considering how I got it on my first attempt on the level by pacifisting the whole level and just jumping around the enemies’ shots and ink.
I thought that you were going to have to use all your ink at the end for some big finish so I didn't use any of it on my first attempt.
I didn't know this when I did the level and was surprised that was in the game lol
I would love to see a 100% run! I’d love to see how you handle all the levels! Keep up the good work, I love this channel so much.
I also really want to see what wacky strategies I can use for this game.

It’s INSANE how underrated you are!! Your challenge videos popped up one day in my recommended and I assumed these videos had at least 500 k views. It’s criminal how low the views are for these videos. You find such great strategy’s and put so much thought into these challenges. And the quality of them is amazing too!! Sitting down and watching them is easy and fun. I cant wait to see your other challenges and 100% the game!! Good luck!!

You can actually use little buddy to attack the last octarian, and get on the platform before it rises so when little buddy finishes off the octarian you are already lifted by the platform.
The platform is elevated though, so I don’t think it would work. Update me if you manage to do it
@@Ansel_G Well turns out my brain was scrambled and I mixed it up with a different challenge, so no it's not possible (At least with my skill level) Although with a splashdown on top of the boxes near them, you can get enough height but not enough mobility to get onto the platform.
@@guest4320 yeah unfortunately the splashdown doesn’t let us move at all..
@@Ansel_G I mean it is possible, you just need these things called "exploits" and "hacks"

I'm pretty sure you didn't need to grind for all that Sardinium to get the splat bomb upgrades in order to beat Frye. Whenever you use a special it will fully fill your inktank. In this clip at 6:45, you were able to get 2 splat bombs up there and you still had a splashdown charged up. I'm certain if you time the bomb throws and splashdown just right you might have enough time to get 3 splat bombs up there without the upgrade.

8:50 I encountered the same problem!! For some reason the wheel things (idk what they’re called) don’t spawn in correctly! It happened to me in the finale of the game
I found out that if you wait on the black platform in between the two areas, and do a 360 they just pop into existence

I'm fairly sure that it was discovered that you can use splashdown to clip walls and get up them with out inking the walls, so this could probably help save a few squids!

You need boost pads on the ground to help you with the trick

Return of the Mammalians was insane. Heck, I’d say it is better than Octo Expansion. Not for the difficulty, but the story and the characters. Also, this was a great challenge to see

5:18 You can also use the pause glitch in this level as an easy way to grind for power eggs

If you keep quitting and coming back, the balloons that float around alterna respawn, so in theory you only need to do the boss kettles

Really awesome job. The tacticts that you use are really good and overall everything is perfect. Btw I actually used squid form in the deadly jumping level just to make my hitbox smaller when touching the ground. Good job.
In the third level actually has a skip used by speed runners that might reduce the amount of squid form uses. If you don’t fully ink the button that revels the locked box you can actually squid jump on it and reach the key above it sooner than expected. It does require you to use the squid form though so I’m not sure if it would be helpful
Edit: accidentally said the wrong level but I fixed it now

12:43 I believe you can actually activate the boss kettle with a little bit of jumping while shooting from the layer below, so squid form #13 should be skippable
I will try it later, but I do not believe it is possible.

You should attempt after alterna with minimum squid form! I'm pretty sure u do need squid form A LOT in that level so it would be fun to see how u get around it!!

10:10 curling bombs are the only subs that can damage kettles because they deal “melee damage” instead of “normal bomb damage” when hitting them.
Yup, but since the only kettles we have to swim to are on higher ledges we are unable to do any melee damage

15:53 Actually, you can say that if you use the squid form at the VERY SIDE of the grating, you dont go on the rail, so you COULD see it as a level opening meaning that squid form and one other entrance wouldn't count
You still have to move to actually get through though, it’s not a one tap thing

I feel like for some of them you could use the super jump to save some squid forms. They count as animations by your logic, but idk

15:00 In this area there is a speedrun glitch called Rocket Skip which skips level 2 and 3, it requires a squid transformation so i dont know if it will be worth theres one downside tho, at least a while back this some reason makes it so that after alterna doenst unlock, i dont know if that bug has been fixed or not and it it very difficult to test that without ruining your whole safe file so in dont know
I used that trick in the 100% run
technically you didnt really finish it off if you count after alterna (which is hard) but you never finished all the levels so it explains a lot, though i'd love to see that happen

@Digital Coder 0, you can shoot balloons to get orbs (they infinitely respawn)
Now beat it without using kid form

Have you considered throwing a bomb up in the air, and then swim tgrough the grate to unlock the box before the bomb lands, so the bomb can activate the rail?

I don’t think Nintendo knows if they would add another playable species so they probably called it swim form just to be safe (it also isn’t as long as cephalopod)
