My favorite line of the song! First listened to this as I was crossing the border to go to Mexico when I was 18. First time away from home, and George brought tears to my eyes with that line. I found the strength and now listen to this every time I'm ready to move. We move to a new city on Saturday and it's scary... but George makes me calm!
George to me has always been "true" country music. He has a quiet self confidence , free of over the top promotion. Most importantly he is what he sings about, I'd be extremely shocked if those closing clips are not of him personally.
To anybody reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind may clarity replace.
I'm Cuban and I'm in eternal debt with the people of Amarillo and the Texans, for ever. Now in Virginia but missing my adoptive city of Amarillo a lot!!!
First heard this song while in Amarillo assisting the Marine Corps Reserve Center in 84-85. One of the local tv stations played this at the start of their broadcast day. Country music has George Strait, the Blues has BB King and Rock and Roll has Elvis, The Rolling Stones and Chuck Berry. Country music and Blues are the two best genres of American music that this country has given to the WORLD. George Strait is in my view, THE MOST prominent country artist since Merle Haggard to come onto to the scene and I thank GOD for the talent he has given this man. A George Strait comes along only once in TWO lifetimes as far as I'm concerned. I'm a Southern boy at heart and ALWAYS will be and George gives all of us a darn GOOD name. Outside of two people who just had to go into a negative racial tone , THANKS to everyone else here for keeping it decent and recognizing like me what is REAL country music. Cheers and GOD bless.

Terry Stafford, sole writer of this song, was raised age 7 in Amarillo, Texas & died there at the young age of 54.
This song was named "#12 country song of all-time" by Country Music Television.
What is the number one song CMT named number one..😊
They knew what they were doing !
I like Terry's original version much better!
"I ain't got a dime, but what I got is mine.. I ain't rich, but lord I'm free."
El Lobo Ron Paul was the epitome of freedom loving politicians
We need to speak that more
1994 AWSOME show
My favorite line of the song! First listened to this as I was crossing the border to go to Mexico when I was 18. First time away from home, and George brought tears to my eyes with that line. I found the strength and now listen to this every time I'm ready to move. We move to a new city on Saturday and it's scary... but George makes me calm!
LOVE IT!!!! I can never hear it enough.
George to me has always been "true" country music. He has a quiet self confidence , free of over the top promotion. Most importantly he is what he sings about, I'd be extremely shocked if those closing clips are not of him personally.
His movie Pure Country touches on that very subject.
Most GS fans don't surf uou tube. A lot more GS fans than anyone
30 years of listening to George. Never get tired of his sound. He has so many great song, I'm not sure if this is my 10th favorite or top one?!
Who’s listening? Everyone…. You’re dead on, the man is an American legend.

Wow, he's so young...and looks like the guy on the cover of one of those cowboy romance novels😍
I just discovered this song. I feel deprived. This is a jam. Just wish it was longer.
To anybody reading this, I pray that whatever is hurting you or whatever you are constantly stressing about gets better. May the dark thoughts, the overthinking, and the doubt exit your mind may clarity replace.

First heard this song while in Amarillo assisting the Marine Corps Reserve Center in 84-85. One of the local tv stations played this at the start of their broadcast day. Had a Marine named Cates from Amarillo and his dad owned a bar. On my way to Quantico to become a Warrant Officer, I tried to find his dad’s place and let him know I just left him in Saudi before the Gulf War started and he’s doing good.

If you grew up loving the country music of the 90’s, you have George to thank.
This is one of the greatest songs I’ve heard in my entire life. I hope I’m listening to it when I’m 90.
@George Strait wow, thank your for your response George. I’ve only been listening about one year, I’m totally new to it. This girl I was dating left me high and dry but she did introduce me to your music…worth it.

Hello dear, how are you doing?
I just bought a vintage t-shirt from your tour from 87' here in a local store in Chile, I was feeling very happy because the t-shirt was from the year that I was born ❤ After that I started to listening all of your greatest hits I just became a huge fan and now I care the t-shirt with all my heart ❤.
The right voice for the right song. The "marriage" of the two are perfect
I think you said it perfectly. I have loved this most simple of all country songs for years on the radio and today thought "Is that Jimmy Buffet?" and looked it up. Good ole George Strait.
Playing this for my newborn to calm her down. She loves it. As do I. King was so young
I was travelling east on I 40 from Albuquerque to Dallas. I was 20 miles from Amarillo & this song came on the radio. Beautiful horizon ahead as the sun was coming up. The colorful clouds made my trip I'll never forget. ☀🌈🐂🌲🔊🚗

I love the attitude of this song. All the hardship he faces in his life, all the setbacks he’s had, but all that’s on his mind is making it to Amarillo by the morning. Don’t let set backs on the way to where you need to be stop you, we’re all just trying to make it to our Amarillo.

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. I was there for the King's first performance and was there for his last. I have met him several times. He's as humble as his music.
Must have been very special. He doesn't seek the spotlight, it finds him
In life, we will have good and bad days but we have to go on forward and keep our heads up. Thanks George.
@George Strait Dear George, thank you. Not yet. I am not in the US right now. I am having to deal with some extremely wrongful activity that has really negatively impacted my life. But I am hopeful, confident that I will conquer it.

Best country song ever made 💯
he didnt say nothing about a train, a truck, or mama?!
OR GETTING DRUNK!
Ohhh, that dog of mine!
Omg! He was freaking gorgeous back then
My favorite George Strait song.
Takes me back to my younger days two stepping along. We'll never see those days again. Appreciate the ones you had then let it go and move forward. Always forward.
Take notes youngins, this is real country!
I ain't got a dime but what I got is mine...I ain't rich but, LORD I'M FREE!!!!!

One of the greatest country songs of all time. Top 5.
true
I was raised on mainly on gangster rap and rock. I used to hate country so much, I would plug my ears whenever I heard any country song (with the acception of Johnny). I never thought I'd be saying this back in the day, but this is not just one of the best country songs of all time. This is one of the best songs ever and one of the best artists out there. George you are a beast, right along with Floyd and Pac.
Friedrich Schmidt
Easily top 5
I could listen to this over and over..love it.
Always love George Strait!! Fantastic song as is all of his other hits💖💖✝️🙏🌹🌹
